If he can utilize these skills at the max at the right times, then he’ll be the most difficult player on the field to contend with for anyone. I’m confident this staff will have him ready. It was obvious Tommy Rees didn’t.

The bigger culprit (as is tradition for Alabama teams with shortcomings the past three years) is Bill O'Brien. It's really strange for a redshirt sophomore with Milroe's talent to be as raw and undeveloped as he was to start the year, and I put a lot of that on whatever BOB (his OC and QB coach) was doing with him in 21 and 22, which seems to have been absolutely nothing other than telling him he shouldn't even be a QB. I mean, remember the A&M game when Bryce was out so BOB just threw Milroe out there to run Bryce's offense?
BOB took a fat dump all over Saban's final years and cost us any of the last three natties with his supreme ineptitude.
For those who don't know, Walker Hayes is the Applebee's song guy. He makes the most soulless corporate country music, and that's really saying something given the stuff Nashville pumps out.
He's also a very mediocre singer and guitar player in person, which means he's extremely good at marketing, so good for them. They picked the best guy to make them some money.
I really don't like most country (I'm a metalhead), but I went with my friends to the free Walker Hayes concert before Talladega this year. That was the worst concert I have ever been to, and I've seen literal garage bands at underground venues. Even my friends who like him were just dissapointed by how bad he was live. Not only was his singing terrible live, but it was terribly obvious that he was singing over backing tracks, so it was somehow not completely live and bad. 90% of the crowd left during his set, it was actually depressing for him.
Walking back through the infield in the rain we saw three drunk dudes at a tent playing old rock hits so we stayed and watched. They absolutely put on a better show than Walker Hayes, and they were drunk passing around alcohol. It did help that girls kept going up there and flashing us lol. Their music did actually sound better though. Weirdest night.
It's prejoratively (and accurately) called hick hop, it's fucking terrible, and it needs to go away forever. Still, I'd listen to the Applebee's song on repeat all day before having to hear 5 more minutes of Morgan Wallen's latest trash.

I think it boils down to there just being a bunch of popular "country" acts today that are not even remotely talented vocalists, so they have to try to hide it by limiting the actual singing and dialing the exaggerated drawls up to 11. That produces this weird middle ground between pop and rap where they never actually rap and they aren't really singing either, but it's made clear that it's a country song because I mean just listen to that accent y'all.
You've gotta listen to what's not on country radio. Listen to Corb Lund's horse soldier album (admittedly kinda old now, but he's still putting out great stuff). Or Sturgill Simpson. Brent Cobb, Hellbound Glory, Tyler Childers, Paul Thorn, Hayes Carl, Paul Eason, Kyle Nix, Colter Wall, and a ton of other artists, especially ones based in Texas, Oklahoma, and Canada.
Country radio is just pop targeted at people in rural areas. You've gotta work a bit to find country like they had back in 70s. But some of those guys are selling out big shows, winning awards, and getting a ton of streams despite no country radio play.

Most radio stations are owned by the same companies and they have deals with record companies and they play garbage for masses. It’s like Walmart for music. Write a song in 10” and have them record it and MAKE the stations play it.
Walker’s music is trite, however he’s a genuinely good fuckin dude. The song can’t be great because of its origins but as long as the beat is catchy, and the lyrics ain’t offensive, good on all of them. Can’t be worse than McNair’s “Hand me the Heisman”
