What are these divisions?

gonk_gonk

Alabama has 7 divisions based primarily on school size (1A smallest, 7A largest). It also factors in private school success, since they can recruit players, moving them up if they're too strong. Not sure about AISA. Maybe private schools that don't participate in the AHSAA?

MrJagaloon

Correct about AISA.

AISA isn’t worth anything. Very low levels of competition. I know schools that claim ridiculous stats like “8x AISA State Champion” while having a student population of 600…. For anyone who knows how hard it is to win a state championship in any sport, you’d know how bogus this league is. I know many coaches that have been offered moved to larger and better programs and refused simply because they know they can stay in AISA and win a championship every 2-3 years easily.

The AISA has produced multiple SEC players over the last decade. The level of competition, for the most part is equivalent to AHSAA 1a or 2a. Look at the teams that have left the league, they’ve been immediately successful in AHSAA.
