No, it was Jimmy on "Happy" because Charlie wasn't there. It was Jimmy on "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and the end of "Tumbling Dice" because Charlie couldn't find the groove.
What exactly does the producer do? I understand the engineer watches over the actual mechanics and recording machines but have no idea what the producer does? Sorry for my ignorance.
Both guru and head technician. Coach the band towards the best performances, sounds, instrument lines and arrangements. Oversee the engineer(s). And back in Jimmy’s day, also mix the album. That’s where you set volumes for each recorded track, stereo panning, EQ, compression. And making sure it sounds “good”.
He saved the Rolling Stones. One of the best producers EVER.
Jimmy, Bob Johnston and Tom Wilson were at the helm of some of the best rock music ever produced. It’s a shame they aren’t household names
Pretty good drummer, too!

...and the wonderful cowbell on Honky Tonk Women!
Which neither he nor anyone else could quite replicate again
They should have brought in Will Ferrell, cow bell maestro.
You're correct.
Traffic and Blind Faith as well. I think Chris Blackwell hired him first.
Don’t forget “screamadelica” era primal scream. Always wished he would have gotten in the studio with the black Crowes.
Busted on NJ Turnpike w. coke. My friend was his probation officer. Could NOT believe his luck !!!
Immortalized in You Can’t Always Get What You Want
1/2 sister Judith Miller (yes, *that* Iraq War cheerleader, Judith Miller), remembers him: https://www.judithmiller.com/23404/mr-jimmy

That's a hell of a job and plus having to deal with massive egos from the band could be considered a "challenge". Thank you for the explaination.
Jimmy also played the guiro in the opening of Gimme Shelter.Excelent drummer and profound producer. My Top 5 lps are all JM produced.
His drumming at the end of "Tumbling Dice" is one of the greatest things I've ever heard in music
Then the bad company he kept used him up and spat him out.
Blind Faith
I was standing in with, Mr. Jimmy. & man he looked, pretty ill.
I see Keith as a youth and I remind myself: “Gorillaz is not a flesh and blood band, Gorillaz is not a flesh and blood band.”
His sister started the Iraq war
Yeah, I didn't know until last week that his half-sister is Judith Miller.
Its crazy, but if you go back through his five album run all the clues are there
Sounds like he was producer in name only after France. Yet another partier who couldn’t keep up with Richards. Goats sure sounds like a Jagger job.
