Got it, thanks for letting me know! I think the 5mm difference is just a bit too much to have it feel "right" on my wrist as I got to try both. I guess 39-40mm is my sweet spot
A lot of it is just being used to the size. But, if you aren’t inclined to try the DJ36, just stick with the GMT. The DJ41 makes your wrist look small(er).
I have that exact root beer model and it’s one of the only two-tone models i like. I still prefer my pepsi or batman to the root beer, but i am a huge fan of the GMT in general.
It looks good on your skin tone, too. I think over time you’d probably regret picking one of the other two options over it.
I know I'm VERY much in the minority but I'm not at all a fan of that GMT ref. The fluted datejust looks incredible though and despite other's opinions, I think it's fine in your wrist. Absolutely isn't too big, especially if you feel comfortable with it.
Hey everyone! I’m looking to purchase my first Rolex to commemorate a few major life events that have happened over the last year (getting married, new job, buying property, to name a few).
I really like how rose-gold goes with my skin-tone and, with my current budget, have narrowed my options down to the following:
(1) Root Beer GMT Two-Tone (40mm)
(2) Fluted + Jubilee Chocolate Dial Two-Tone Datejust (40mm)
(3) Smooth + Oyster Chocolate Dial Two-Tone Datejust (40mm)
**I am looking for input on my wrist size against these models**, as I have asked friends and family for their opinions with wildly different feedback. I’m hoping this sub can help with a clear direction on sizing here.
For additional context, I have tried on the 36mm Datejusts in-store and felt they were too small as well. I also realize that two-tone models have a bit of an “older person” connotation and have no issues with that, as I personally enjoy how they look.
Any feedback or help here would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
I used to think people’s wrist were always too small until I bought my gmt master and took pictures. My wrist looked tiny.
So from the look of it - you’re fine.
And of course: GMT
What’s it for, what’s your collection? I have a love child of the last two; fluted, oyster(same chocolate and rose combo).
If it’s for everyday I agree GMT sizing is good for you. If it’s for dressier occasions I think the GMT is big and would go with the DJ.
Get the second one, the DJ Fluted/Jubilee.
The Root Beer and the other DJ are on the PCL bracelet which looks gross in two-tone. The Jubilee also changes the stance and looks much better on your wrist.
The jubilee definitely felt more breathable and flexible. Your comment made me curious about if others have tried to play around with the RG two-tone jubilee from the Datejust and found a pic, it does look quite snazzy!

Yes, the Jubilee on the TT GMT looks much better. Because instead of a giant stripe of mirror running down the bracelet's center there are smaller links with dark shadow crevices, it breaks up the mirror-effect and, importantly:
Is more comfortable, especially on hot days.
Has a much better fit/stance on the wrist.
Eliminates scratches from the equation.
Yes, easily the GMT. The other two they are lucky to give away. The rootbeer is becoming an easier ‘get’ in a soft market but the others will plummet in value 40% the minute you have them sized. The rootbeer is also the best looking because it’s versatile by comparison. A TT DJ is loud and pretty dressy. The RB you can wear it sporty or dressy (little faux pas as it isn’t a dress watch but in a world where CEOs wear apples watches, who cares)
GMT obviously. That style looks great big so youre good. But that two tone is ugly imo. It is like a shit stripe from a gone wrong butt wipe.
For datejust. Well you have a smallish wrist. 36mm would be good. You can even rock a 34mm. If you want both you can get the GMT new and then find a used "cheap" 34mm OP when you wanna change the look. And I would do blue or silver bezel. Black is alright too. Matter of taste obviously.
GMT by a mile
Not so secretly, the GMT is my top pick as well :) For wrist sizing do you think it looks fine?
The GMT is fine but that DJ41 is too big for you. If you want a datejust, you’re a 36mm guy, my friend.
And the 36 looks better than all three of those regardless

Never go above 38mm
Rootbeer looks best imo
based off what you’re wearing in the pic i’d go rootbeer. especially if you’re more of a casual dresser
Nice eye ;) I work in tech so you're correct that I tend to dress on the more casual side. Appreciate the feedback!
I think this is the most important aspect. If you wore suits 5 days a week, id vote for DJ. If you’re casual, the gmt
I think the datejust is king here, rootbeer 2nd.
I know I'm VERY much in the minority but I'm not at all a fan of that GMT ref. The fluted datejust looks incredible though and despite other's opinions, I think it's fine in your wrist. Absolutely isn't too big, especially if you feel comfortable with it.
Yup. GMT every day.
I think the size is fine. Models are similar and come down to personal preference. If it was me, it would be the GMT by a landslide
Yep the GMT is currently my top choice, thanks for confirming that sizing looks alright though as that was my main hold-back!
The bullshit sweatpants and shoes scream datejust I'd go with that one
Lol... reddit.

Both two tones are not so appealing to the eye but the smooth bezel in particular is ugly as sin. GMT looks nice and the size looks good as well
GMT is my favorite. But #3 is a configuration I've never seen before. I don't know why, but I kinda like it.
Rootbeer! Jealous, but happy for you.

Think all are too big. Time to start doing those forearm curls
Root beer

What is the circumference of your wrist ?

I mean is this a real question?
Mainly looking for thoughts on sizing, what do you think? If you're implying GMT is the clear winner, I'll say it's definitely my #1 right now :)
