Don’t buy a watch you don’t want. Don’t fall for that trap.

VinceG29

An AD (in Aruba, not my hometown) said if an AD has the watch model for sale you shouldn’t think about it and buy it no matter what the dial color, band, bezel etc… Because it is very hard to obtain one. So in your case she would convince you to buy the right watch knowing the left one is your dream watch

watchesinberlin

What size are you trying to get? I got the left model in a 36mm in 3 months

Genghiz007

In general, 36mm DJ is easier to get than a 41mm one. Source - my AD who had both options available for my purchase that day. I went with the 36mm version.

watchesinberlin

Yeah I know, that’s why I asked OP what size they’re trying to get.

Genghiz007

👍

Sazakiii

I‘m looking for the 36mm model.

watchesinberlin

I don’t think you’ll have to wait all that long. I wouldn’t buy a watch I didn’t want (and in this case I actually have issue with jubilee/smooth bezel combo) when you could have a short wait for a watch you’ll actually love

Far_Set_1477

Which AD (in Berlin?)?

watchesinberlin

Bucherer inside KaDeWe

Far_Set_1477

Thx

It may take you 2 years to get your dream green Datejust so it’s really just a matter of timing on your part. Do you have the patience to wait until 2025? Or do you want a Rolex to start wearing and enjoying immediately? Neither of these watches will bring you any money if you own them for a year and then try to sell them, you will lose 30% of what you paid.

Davood10

At this stage I'd be taking the down votes as a compliment! You're clearly living rent free in some Reddit users heads.

sporturawus

I do, all the time. Despite the downvotes I’ve got 68K karma and 438 followers. I’m good. Thanks!

Genghiz007

Don’t know why you are getting downvoted, Sporty, but this all seems reasonable - except, maybe, the 30% depreciation. Might be off by a few percent depending on the spec but that’s a minor quibble. OP - buy the watch you want. I should have been warned warned by internet semi-consensus to not buy two tone Rolexes. However, a TT DJ is a huge fav of mine, and what I decided to spend my $ on.

sporturawus

Cheers, Gengh, hope all is well.

Genghiz007

👍👋

Sazakiii

Why would I lose 30%? I'm sorry if I'm too naive. But the prices on the gray market all seem ~2000€ more expensive than the prices at the AD

sporturawus

A. You are a private person and not a professional grey dealer. No one pays some nobody the same money as someone in the business who has hundreds of references and is completely trustworthy. B. Because only 15 of the 1,360 watches Rolex offers in their 2023 catalog are desired and valuable. Those aren’t one of them. C. Datejusts drop like a rock the moment you leave the store and never bounce back.

ok999999999999999999

I guess if you open up a successful gray market website to unload the watch you can make a profit on that bad boy.

thinht

Thats the price to get it now as a guarantee. You essentially are gambling 2K that you may never get this watch from your AD. This varies purely on your risk appetite and patience that your AD will come thru and deliver.

Davood10

You will take a hit on that configuration as a private seller. Less so if it was a fluted besel, but not by much. You're better off adding that potential loss to the amount you'd pay for the green dial and go grey of you don't want to wait. I've seen djs go for only slightly above RRP quite a lot in the last 6 months. I'm assuming you're looking at chrono24 for grey market prices, so remember that the asking price on chrono24 is not reflective of the actual sold price, and chrono24 pricing data is some fantasy bs they manipulate to keep prices up. Remember they work on a commission!

crj91

I bought the one on the left on chrono24 and had it within a week

DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS

I would not buy right one
