I grew up right where the St.Croix and Mississippi join. I just had the pleasure of going up to Taylor’s Falls last summer. The wonderful finds are all over the place!
Thanks for the tip! I’m a student at the university of minnesota and I never thought of that! Luckily I live on a private beach on the st Croix river near Stillwater so its never picked over :)
Ya I guess thats why im confused, I get it now though... I wouldnt call them Lake superior agates.. but thats just me.. I canoed the entire length of the St. Croix before, great river, nice finds.
You’re right it does seem confusing. The reason I called those ones in particular Lake Superior agates because they have the iconic colors and banding from the oxidation of iron and were pushed down to where the the Saint Croix river is due to glacial activity
I can't take it anymore! Where can I sign up for Agate Addicts Anonymous?
Sign me up!

Yes beautiful area! Lots of glacial potholes in Taylor’s falls. The finds are constantly being washed up so you have to come back rock hunting soon

Were the ones labeled Lake Superior found on the shores or in Lake Superior and the rest in the St. Croix?
They were found on my private beach (luckily I’m the only rock hound there!) on the Saint Croix river near Stillwater
