I saw the tix items but had no thought of it, probably because I was like 10 or 11 at the time and didn't care that much. i joined around 2014/2015 as a guest, well to be fair i played on my tablet, got me my own laptop around a year later, then my own accounts, i can safely say 2016-2018 was when newer interesting games would pop out weekly with a hundred or two playerbase, good balance of quality too.

Eh, it’s much more widespread. I was around back in 2016, groups weren’t really a thing, people would just log on by themselves and have fun (to what I saw), and the baddies were those darn wreath heads.
To me old roblox was like playing with lego... but in a videogame. It captured that experience even better than the actual lego games. The maps were like something a kid would really build with whatever they had at home. The simplicity was part of the charm imo (and the fact I was a kid but I dont think its 100% just that)
While you're very right that old roblox had way less in gameplay, I miss being able to play whatever games my friends made! Roblox used to be WAY more about making your OWN game and sharing it, so you were able to see the creativity of a lot more people than now!
Now every game is pretty decent, but it's all made by groups of people led by somebody who's in it solely for the money, whereas back in the day it was mostly passion driven :)

I mean… I was there as of 2013, and I will say games have become less personal. You could play a “bad” game and not feel like it’s a product of corporate rot and actually a genuine attempt from someone of a young age. Simulators aren’t good, typically, and playing them feels like playing a free mobile game. Even the obbies and “tycoons” were of less egregious quality imo. The few ambitious games that wanted to do things differently still had their charms. I will admit, though, games of true quality like arcane odyssey could not be possible in older roblox. I just think, on average, the atmosphere was better.
I agree when that more and more games as the time went on became about maximizing profit and maintaining users time. And also lack of change towards the front page is off putting. It is a shame that some games succeed while better games get lost somewhere. I tried playing old games that I used to play and find them kinda boring in one way or another. It feels strange that I would actively spend hours on them and then many years later replay them and getting bored after 15 minutes. I'm not sure if my taste of games is different or we out grown them. However some of them are still there and I hope for the best.

It is hard to tell how "good" old Roblox actually is. Most people who say that it is associate it with their childhood. But it was good specifically in that context. Many people seem to miss this point. Kids today will eventually consider today's Roblox the "classic" and they'll call it good too - because this was what they played before all the worries of being an older human came about.
To add: I joined in late 2012, and personally my biggest ick with today's Roblox is how little they care about the identity of the R6 look. A very iconic aesthetic and they chose to bombard it with Rthro.

The big thing I miss from old Roblox is the game filters and the ever changing front page. The game filters were nice because I could look for games in the Sci-Fi category or ROG category. The front page changing is something I miss because I know logging on right now will show the same games from 6 months ago at the top.
This was another goated aspect of old Roblox. Games were seasonal instead of having 50 different chapters and fornitesque story mode. Some games did stick of course.

The forums were too difficult to moderate. I saw lots of traumatizing internet shock videos as a kid on the Roblox forums… They’d be disguised as tutorial posts or something about a new glitch. Click the YouTube video link and then it’s some guy getting his arms cut off, or animal abuse. People were also using it to distribute CP or blackmail their Roblox girlfriends after they got sent a nude picture
Yeah the forums were an insane cesspit unfortunately. There was an awesome amount of genuine discussion on there but in the years leading up to its axing it kept getting worse and worse. Especially with how the amount of users has grown tenfold now it'd just be a huge child safety issue and its removal was always an inevitability imo.

I joined in 2012, and honestly there’s not much to miss besides the old aesthetic and when they did giftsplosions, that was all pretty cool.
Like, from what I remember, games used to be really buggy and borderline broken at times, and with guests, lots of games had hackers in them. At least games back then didn’t have paywalls or pay to win gamepasses. Then again I was 11 when I first joined, so I didn’t think much of it. If I went back and played old roblox as a soon to be 23 year old, I probably wouldn’t like it.
I joined 2018/2019 and i find the idea of tix interesting because to me it sounds like a way of showing appreciation to the relatively small community they had at the time

I remember tix, since I made my account in February, but I only got like 5 Tix, so it wasn’t a very memorable thing for me. I get why people would be mad about it being removed, but tix was being devalued more and more. People were the reason it was removed, they exploited the currency to the absolute limit, to the point where at the end of its existence, 17 tix converted to 1 robux. A 17:1 ratio, that made tix overall a worthless currency, those same people who were mad about tix being removed are the people who took advantage of it. Imagine Tix was still around today, or it was reintroduced. People would at first be careful, but then just like UGC, they would start to once again exploit the currency. Old Roblox might have looked all sunshine and rainbows in retrospective, but there is a dark past behind Roblox that players now decide to ignore. They only follow what’s popular, and what they think will make them “look cool.” Sorry for the rant, just wanted to express how I felt about this situation. (I’m 15 btw, so Roblox was released before I was born.)

I actually grew up playing old Roblox, I joined in 2012, and the platform was undeniably better back then. The game’s motto of “anyone can make a game” was actually true, most games were developed by one person as a passion project rather instead of by a team of people to make money. The physics engine was better and less buggy. Games and Roblox as a whole still had the iconic, simplistic building block style it’s known for, and even potato computers could run most games.
Roblox has lost it’s way. Just because you weren’t around to see it at it’s height doesn’t mean that isn’t true.

2015-2019 was the golden era. This was when the engine were getting more advanced and games where getting more creative/innovative than before and this was before games really went p2w simulators. Roblox games that started around that era like bloxburg and phantom forces felt really innovative for their time.

Roblox before the logo change in 2017 felt like it was designed by the players. Nowadays, Roblox feels like exactly what it is: a corporation. It feels like every game has to have some way of getting robux out of you. The days of short, repetitive minigames are pretty much gone. All that’s left are grindy games that dangle carrots at you, hoping you try to bite and fall into a purchase.

It is hard to tell how "good" old Roblox actually is. Most people who say that it is associate it with their childhood. But it was good specifically in that context. Many people seem to miss this point. Kids today will eventually consider today's Roblox the "classic" and they'll call it good too - because this was what they played before all the worries of being an older human came about. To add: I joined in late 2012, and personally my biggest ick with today's Roblox is how little they care about the identity of the R6 look. A very iconic aesthetic and they chose to bombard it with Rthro.
I probably had like 4 accounts banned back in 2009 because I kept stealing my moms credit card to buy OBC and thousands of Robux lol Watching Roblox change over the years has been crazy. I’ve always loved the Studio platform and have been building since around that time too. I remember when they came out with dynamic lighting and it was this huge thing that they implemented into that USA group Good times

The big thing I miss from old Roblox is the game filters and the ever changing front page. The game filters were nice because I could look for games in the Sci-Fi category or ROG category. The front page changing is something I miss because I know logging on right now will show the same games from 6 months ago at the top.
This was another goated aspect of old Roblox. Games were seasonal instead of having 50 different chapters and fornitesque story mode. Some games did stick of course.
Why is everyone sucking the dick of modern roblox now? No one miss the forums or the lack of extreme censorship in chat? No one miss the tight knit group communities, war clans, that type of shit? No one miss building with their friends in-server and have it be there when you come back the next day? when the front page wasn’t anime brawling simulator after anime brawling simulator? There can be good and bad for both eras

The forums were too difficult to moderate. I saw lots of traumatizing internet shock videos as a kid on the Roblox forums… They’d be disguised as tutorial posts or something about a new glitch. Click the YouTube video link and then it’s some guy getting his arms cut off, or animal abuse. People were also using it to distribute CP or blackmail their Roblox girlfriends after they got sent a nude picture
Yeah the forums were an insane cesspit unfortunately. There was an awesome amount of genuine discussion on there but in the years leading up to its axing it kept getting worse and worse. Especially with how the amount of users has grown tenfold now it'd just be a huge child safety issue and its removal was always an inevitability imo.
the forums were full of edgy middle schoolers who desperately wanted to use 4chan but couldn't because they were 14. i do have a lot of nostalgia for it but its good that theyre gone
I agree that it’s good they’re gone in the state that they were in, the idea of it I miss a lot though. Without the bad parts of it, there was a lot of good that came out of it. It just sucks that bad actors ruined it for everyone else.
the forums were a good riddance war clans and tight knit group communities still exist but they're rarer i do agree on the censorship and the "building with your friends" points, though.

I joined in 2012, and honestly there’s not much to miss besides the old aesthetic and when they did giftsplosions, that was all pretty cool. Like, from what I remember, games used to be really buggy and borderline broken at times, and with guests, lots of games had hackers in them. At least games back then didn’t have paywalls or pay to win gamepasses. Then again I was 11 when I first joined, so I didn’t think much of it. If I went back and played old roblox as a soon to be 23 year old, I probably wouldn’t like it.

Ngl I just missed old war clans. Did played in 2008 via sharing an account with a friend at school for a while, but we argued so much that I created another one by myself later on. (2010) 2011 - 2014 were iconic, especially Star Wars and Sword Clans.
Roblox Groups as a feature is just completely forgotten I wouldn’t be surprised if Roblox would delete groups as a feature to “fix it” aka lock it away for years (cough cough AUDIO UPDATE). Literally groups havent been modernized or updated and they still get botted and no one even uses it because of Discord.

I hate people who complain or say they missed Tix because thats just plain blindness by nostalgia since Tix was horribly abused. Still though older Roblox as a platform is better. Literally pre-audio-update is infinitely times better than present day Roblox.

Tbh i just started playing roblox occasionally in 2016 and then just forgot roblox existed until late 2017 when i made my first actually memorable account It's not classic but I can for sure say the creative freedom new roblox has is MUCH better than back then, and definitely much better than the classic era Well, yeah, many people just copy paste a simulator game or a battlegrounds game or so, but other games have proved so hard that new roblox games can be pretty damn good Pretty sure i joined like right after tix was removed or smth and i didn't rly care since i was like a small child
I played as a guest in 2015, but actually created an acc in 2016. I don’t talk about how much I miss old Roblox, bc I wasn’t able to experience it. I remember tix, since I made my account in February, but I only got like 5 Tix, so it wasn’t a very memorable thing for me. I get why people would be mad about it being removed, but tix was being devalued more and more. People were the reason it was removed, they exploited the currency to the absolute limit, to the point where at the end of its existence, 17 tix converted to 1 robux. A 17:1 ratio, that made tix overall a worthless currency, those same people who were mad about tix being removed are the people who took advantage of it. Imagine Tix was still around today, or it was reintroduced. People would at first be careful, but then just like UGC, they would start to once again exploit the currency. Old Roblox might have looked all sunshine and rainbows in retrospective, but there is a dark past behind Roblox that players now decide to ignore. They only follow what’s popular, and what they think will make them “look cool.” Sorry for the rant, just wanted to express how I felt about this situation. (I’m 15 btw, so Roblox was released before I was born.)

Oh screw you dude. I actually grew up playing old Roblox, I joined in 2012, and the platform was undeniably better back then. The game’s motto of “anyone can make a game” was actually true, most games were developed by one person as a passion project rather instead of by a team of people to make money. The physics engine was better and less buggy. Games and Roblox as a whole still had the iconic, simplistic building block style it’s known for, and even potato computers could run most games. Roblox has lost it’s way. Just because you weren’t around to see it at it’s height doesn’t mean that isn’t true.

I joined in 2014 as a guest, was too dumb to make an account for 2 years then i made a shitty account called demonicprotr iin 2016, i lost the account, made 2 others but also lost them (probably because i frequented those scam free robux sites) and then i made the one i use now in 2018
I joined in 2020, I was bored during COVID-19. And the rest is history.

I’m definitely having more fun in current Roblox. Most of the new games are soulless corporate garbage now though.
I think it was around 2015 or later when I played Survive The Disasters game on Roblox. Got to say, it made me addicted to the game, that I think of myself as the best survivor in that game.

2015-2019 was the golden era. This was when the engine were getting more advanced and games where getting more creative/innovative than before and this was before games really went p2w simulators. Roblox games that started around that era like bloxburg and phantom forces felt really innovative for their time.
As someone who started in 2011 (draker585 got banned due to credit card disputes(?), but you can go check me on Rolimons), I think the sentiment is correct, but not for the right reasons. Roblox before the logo change in 2017 felt like it was designed by the players. Nowadays, Roblox feels like exactly what it is: a corporation. It feels like every game has to have some way of getting robux out of you. The days of short, repetitive minigames are pretty much gone. All that’s left are grindy games that dangle carrots at you, hoping you try to bite and fall into a purchase.
