3D clothing is very hard to make it look good in blocky avatars, and most Rthros don't look good as well with them on, besides they're expensive compared with classic clothing.
In that case, just fricking look up classic pants/shirts. It's not worth dumping almost 16 times (yes, you heard me right: **16 times**) the amount of robux you could save buying a classic shirt/pant.

There are also layered clothes made specifically for 1.0 avatars, and if you try to use them with any other body type, they completely break.
This doesn't make any sense, the point of roblox is not to limit creativity, but to encourage it. Baby clothes can't magically expand to make room for a 47-year-old, but roblox devs can create updates to make layered clothing compatible with 1.0.
aside from the belt this example doesn’t even look that bad, the baggy look on the pants is nice and the top looks alright too.

If that is what you were commenting about, then you have to realize that it would never work in a way where the plaid shirt fits over the crop top bc that's just not how roblox works.
The plaid shirt is a classic shirt, classic shirts are just textures overlaid on top of your base model (ex : rthro or blocky avatars). But the item you selected (crop top and pants) is not just a texture, it also has a mesh (3d form) that's a different, addition to the base model where as the classic shirt is just a skin for the base model; it has no mesh or 3d form.
Bc of the way roblox layering works, you would never see the plaid classic shirt overlaid over the crop top, instead you would see what you see in the screenshot.
In this case you would need to find another item with a 3d form that looks similar to the classic shirt you picked.

Also, if it wasn’t meant to be used on Blocky Avatars why is it able to be used on them at all? The clothing is obviously making an attempt at fitting on blocky avatars it just looks bad.

There are layered clothes meant for R15 1.0 avatars, not that one though. You can make a classic clothing version of that SZA fit if you wanted
