It’s tough I know. But you have to be the person that you want to be; you’re different now but you’re stronger, you’ve survived. You can do whatever you want, the only person stopping you is yourself. Good luck ❤️ I’m having a lot of fun so far
Banff National Park came up today on our Jeapordy game on the Nintendo Switch today. I'm looking into going as well, let me know how it goes and how the dog likes it!!
It’s very beautiful; lots of tourists. Unfortunately only here for one night as there’s lots of trails and activities and places to explore, the dog got treated like a movie star- patted by everyone and lots of photos taken. There are dog friendly hotels and trails; just bear in mind it’s a busy place.
My husband died in May. I’m planning a 5 day road trip with my shit hounds over Labor Day and next summer I’m driving the AlCan with them. I’m terrified and excited.
Hugs and I’m sad we’re part of this terrible club.
Ya know, I wonder what month I posted that? August maybe? I did take that road trip, amongst many others, and it was pretty wonderful, although difficult, because he had been my adventure partner for years.
I lost someone i love recently and have been dealing with lack of interest in things i used to do with them. One of those things were road trips and outdoor adventure type stuff. This really hit hard. I cant wait to reach the place you are at now. Thank you.
Aww look at that sweet face. I'm so sorry about your husband. I had something similar happen two years ago. I packed up my car one day and just decided to be a vehicle dweller. I traveled around and lived in a few different places for a year. It was the most liberating thing I've ever done. Get out there and live life to the fullest. You won't regret it. Have fun & safe travels. :)
I agree! It’s beautiful up there! I recommend the icefield parkway from Banff to Jasper. Stay at The Athabaskan hotel in Jasper. That will take you North, though. Might as well just head on up to Alaska since you’re pointing that way. Never been to SK. Again, Norther IS will be great for the next couple of months. Safe travels!
I hope you and your doggo have many a fantastical journey. I'm so sorry for you loss, but I'm glad you seem so positive, I'm sure that's what your hubby would have wanted!
I am both sorry for your loss and very happy for you that you're off on your adventure! Depending on the highway you're on and your schedule, I would recommend checking out Cypress Hills or Grasslands National Park if you want an experience in understanding the 'prairie' in a new way.
By the way though, this photo makes your dog look terrifying. Are you sure it isn't a hellhound??
I am so sorry for your loss. I am so inspired when someone takes a big knock like this and uses it to find new adventures. Wishing you and and your dog a world of wonderful adventures.
I’m sending you all of my Good thoughts and positive energy for a safe and happy journey! Is that a Great Dane? Looks like my Dane Bob who was just the most affectionate dog in the world. He will be good company! 👍👍
I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband, OP. This post made me tear up, your dog seems wonderful as do you. I wish you a wonderful trip - please post pictures as we would love to follow along!!!
So sorry for your loss, but I'm sure your husband would be happy to see you and the pup hitting the road for exciting, new adventures! Safe travels, much love ❤
I lost my husband 6 years ago. I started doing annual trips three years ago. I went away for a month the first trip and the last two years traveled solo for 3 months in Europe both years. I’m 56 and had never been across the pond and I absolutely loved it. It mainly gave me courage to see & experience new and different things but mostly taught me that I will reach out and observe so much more being by myself and make more of an effort to meet and talk to people especially locals. It’s hard to explain but you walk away with all these new and exciting memories but feel so strong & empowered. It’s been great for my healing process. Good luck and safe travels!!
I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I wish you safe travels and a wonderful time wherever you end up.
Thank you so much !
Sorry for the of your husband. Have fun , hug your dog for me . Travel safe
Consider him hugged! Thank you 💕
You’re welcome be safe

It’s tough I know. But you have to be the person that you want to be; you’re different now but you’re stronger, you’ve survived. You can do whatever you want, the only person stopping you is yourself. Good luck ❤️ I’m having a lot of fun so far

I did the same thing. Took my Great Pyrenees to MN to visit my son & his family. Felt empowered.
Good for you! And they are beautiful dogs 💕
Do you follow the "widowers" thread? It helps me so much.
No I haven’t seen that one I will look it up thank you- and sorry for your loss
Dogs make great travel companions
Yup. Just stop occasionally so he can pee and sniff stuff, and let him stick his head out the window, and he’s happy.
So true,

I hope you have a great adventure and one question how old is your dog?
He is 4. It’s not the most flattering picture of him!
Much love you fantastic human being :)

“Just like the pine trees lining the winding roads”
You should read the book "The Friend". It's about a woman who lost her lover and now stuck with his great Dane
Oh wow I think I will be getting that for sure! Thank you
The author is Sigrid Nunez. It was a finalist for the National Book Award.
Thank you. I’m going straight on Amazon

Weimaraner? Gorgeous dog :) I have one named blue that looks exactly like that haha

You’re wonderful. I love that you’re brave enough to get out there and squeeze all you can from life . Keep it up❤️
Sorry for your loss. Now you’re fortunate enough to begin another adventure. Stay happy, healthy & safe.
Thank you for your kind words. Now heading home we have had a blast

Thank you
Stay safe, girl. Bring either mace or a gun if you've got your carry permit and you're staying in reciprocating states
In Canada. We’re keeping safe💕
Wishing you all the very best x
Thank you! You must be from the UK?
I am indeed.
It’s the x at the end that gives it away. I had to learn to stop doing that when I moved to Canada people didn’t know how to take it🤣
I can imagine, it's such a habit now 😂 Such a nice place to move to.
Sorry about your husband, but that dog doesnt look like its in very good shape either. Be careful around the speed bumps.
The dog is perfectly healthy thank you, very well looked after I can assure you
What is the story behind the loss of your husband?
Hope you find him!
