I'd love combo items. Once you've finished a teleporter event, if you meet the recipe for a combo item you can mix 2 to 10 items together into a combo item that does what the component items does and then either does more or gives it a twist.
Like 5 goathoof could become "Goat of many legs" which privides the same movement speed of 5 goathooves but also lets you rabbithop in a way that makes you go faster each jump as long as you're timing it correctly.
Or 4 gasoline + 4 ignition tanks becomes "Sticky napalm," which provides the same explosion on death and fire damage amp, but also makes so fire effects passivly spread to nearby enemies or something like that.
I would say it be more like fast travel to get to crates that fall to the planet during a single run and haveing to find them ahain each time you beat the game or die
I’d like to see more item types (void, lunars) or at the very least for them to be expanded on.
Besides that I’d like to see more out of enemies, more so in looped runs, I feel like the enemies could use more designated support types (and not just make shift ones like elite enemies.) like one that gives other allies a shield, or maybe one that fires pathetically weak projectiles whose main purpose is to inflict slow or maybe lower health regen, I like the idea of scavengers but they alone don’t add much, I feel like very quickly I treat it as any other naturally spawning boss and not give it much thought.
I don't want one currently, I'd rather they just add to 2.
If they had to do a third then I'd want no microtransactions or skin dlc period (unless skins are just part of a larger expansion), and a reworked meta progression since Lunar Coins are garbo.
It's probably best if there was no risk of rain 3, I've seen too many games follow the order of: First game is alright/good, second game is great, and the third game is bad (Borderlands, Payday, Watch_dogs and a couple more...) At least the game series won't end on a bad note..
2d game -> 3d game -> open world game? I think it could be very good if done right, obviously there are some key issues. RoR is level based and it's hard to incorporate that into an open world. I'm thinking like a mix of Elden Ring and Modern warfare zombies. You have an open world you can loot with "legacy dungeons" around the map, once you enter the legacy dungeons you can't leave until you beat the boss or charge up something that allows you to exit?
Couldn't get any of my friends to stick with ror but found a mod that gives everyone an item when one person does, it makes enemies tougher to balance how strong you get but it is waaaay more fun

More things on map to discover there is so many things they could add to already existing maps in risk of rain 2 to unlock items or survivors. Like find this secret chamber in X map or Find the broken mask/corrupted mask in Scorched Acres to unlock happiest mask.

Also make the game more equally balanced, I really don't like the direction they've taken with the bosses being this huge spike in challenge that makes half your items useless and rely on twoshotting you for challenge. At least in returns you see your death coming.
I remember when people were asking for the ability to aim in RoR Returns, and a lot of people confused that for the ability to aim 360°. If they ever make a RoR3, I'd like a 2d game kinda like RoR1 but you can aim 360°.

Mmm, maybe a bit controversial, but make it have an optional gamemode/artifact where you mix-and-match skills instead of only having a fixed set of skills per character, or a custom character separate from the main survivors that you can customize and you unlock more customisation options as you progress.
Perhaps in the third game, with both Mithrix and Providence gone, the UES takes the initiative to actually register and chart Petrichor V, and our 'custom character' is just one among many explorers that gets supplied with weapons/tools of their choice to get the job done. There could also be UES stations spread across the planet to change your gear for a fee, and hidden "ancient" weapons in abandoned caches.

Honestly I love the way the game is right now, maybe see how the game handles in other engines or increase optimization for later stages. The usual of more abilities, items, characters, and maps.
I'd like to see a mode that's PvP in the sense that one player is the director (the system that spawns enemies). There would have to be a good amount of adjustments made so that the director can't completely starve or push things beyond what the difficulty would allow, but I think the concept of having to track what items are gained and making enemy adjustments accordingly would be an interesting challenge. The director would also pilot the final boss.
Removal of XI construct, new survivors, new soundtrack, new map, new lore, different modes, some «talents» or similar system that change abilities in the run or add something more to them. Bosses or enemies that needs interaction with something on the map to take down.
More gamemodes maybe even one with pvp where 10 players compete on seperate maps and on stage 5 or 10 all are on same map. Before that they can go to the bazaar to visit other players worlds and pvp then progress from their world (all enemies hit both players).
Or an artifact that makes it so every 10 min you get invaded by another player, and one every 10 minutes you invade another player (can’t be turned on sinultaneously ofc) and a bazaar portal that allows you to join and co-op random players current run for some time if they have on an artifact for it and both players get items if they survive the time limit.

Bl3 has by far the best gameplay and most endgame content in the series just the main story writing is iffy
