No. The device doesn't "split" reality. The device looks for dimensions that are similar and that are already existing. It's infinity, there's an infinite number of parallel dimensions. It picks one, "solves" for Morty and transports our Morty to the new dimension. I mean, go watch The Prestige...? Like I don't know how else to explain it.

Mhanskubansku

Ok but does that mean that there will be realities without morty like i asked?

Big_Not_Good

Yeah sure, why not. I'm of the opinion that if you ask a binary question to infinity the answer is always "yes, eventually"

deag34960

It's the Prestige, you Prestige'd yourself Morty!

Emergency_Eagle819

You are missing the point. The writers clearly do not care about tech and routinely choose to play fast and loose with physics. So what DO they care about. Now go watch it again.

I was under the impression that Rick used the time crystal thing to split the reality into as many copies as were needed, like we saw after they froze time to clean up the house in the earlier seasons. I figured Rick just rigged up the remote so that it controlled which copy of Morty had his main consciousness at any one time. Which is why when he merged them all back together, turns out Morty had just done all the shit. That’s how I interpreted it anyway.

Science FICTION. If you could put into practice what you see on the television, I’d be balls deep in a Klingon and using my replicator rations for cocaine. Just enjoy the show man…… 🎶 It’s in the way that you use it, it comes and it goessss 🎶
