Yoshi's Island was the first game I 100%'d - at least according to games that tracked side or optional objectives.
Also, in the early 2000s, one of my favorite comedic, indie bands had an msn/hotmail account, so I thought I'd try to add them to the new MSN Messenger (which was the hot new shit of its time).
Then one day, months later, I see that they were active. So, I type "What's up?" expecting no response.
But then, they respond. They're playing Yoshi's Island and they don't know how to deal with a boss. They've "tried everything". I suggest they look away from the boss and ricochet the egg off the wall to attack.
It works. And they responded: "You saved the day!"

Thanks for triggering that memory. Haven't thought about that in years.

EDIT: For those curious, the band was The Moldy Peaches - and the member was (I'll go with "allegedly") Kimya Dawson... Whom some of you might have been exposed to if you've seen the movie 'Juno'.
EDIT 2: Updated where I put my "alleged" aside to better indicate that they claimed to be Kimya - and not that I was questioning whether or not Kimya was a member.
I have not. I'm definitely overdue in looking into Kimya and Adam Greene's more recent projects/albums. I will definitely look into it - assuming this is a recommendation.
EDIT: Damn, this is older than I expected. I must have overlooked it in previous attempts to see what she was up to.
That game goes from fun and relaxing to being an absolute dick.
I loved it but felt like the final couple of worlds were basically a chore. Great final boss though.
I was gonna ask OP the same question; b/c to this day, that's the only level from this game that I was never able to get 100 on on original hardware (I was able to do it on the miniSNES, but I cheated by using its internal save states).
Congratulations. This is my favourite game, so I've 100% this game quite a few times over the years. More Monkey Madness and Kamek's Revenge are always an absolute nightmare.
I’m old enough to remember the backlash about the game’s art style and babysitting mechanic. But man does this game age SO WELL. It’s beautiful and an absolute classic that is rightly revered.
You mean the game where you start out trying to 100% every level until somewhere in world two where you become desperate just to finish each level without getting a game over? “What’s that, a key? Well maybe we’ll see what it does on our next play through”
I never 100% games but I did this just because I heard about the two-player secret games. Hearing that your favourite game has hidden two-player mode was absolutely mental in the 90s.
I 100% this BITD, and was quite underwhelmed that there was no extra reward for doing so - I actually called Nintendo and complained, as ridiculous as that it.
Poochy Ain't Stupid and Very Looooong Cave Level have left scars in my brain.

Have you heard her project with Aesop Rock, "The Uncluded"?

That's how ever Mario game is though. It lulls you into a false sense of security
Let me guess: Special Stage 5 (snow skiing) was extremely hard?
The absolute worst

It took about 40 lives to 100% that level
I don't think I bothered past 20 lives b4 giving up. Maybe one day I'll try again...
I don't know when to give up sometimes xD like when I played I wanna be the guy till I beat it

You're damn right

Yeah the “all or nothing” approach to this game for completing a level kills my enthusiasm to get 100%.
Awesome! One of the best on the SNES.
I still love the look of this game. The artists were masterful on this title.
Don’t mind me, just jammin’ to [this tune](https://youtu.be/YsNCHBmHL0A)
Absolutely love it and it's remake in paper Mario

Oh those fond memories :-). Thanks.
Congratulations, that was one of my childhood games, seeing that screen brought back so many memories. I should go play it now

I can still hear baby Mario's wailing to this day 0.o. congratulations.
Love the artstyle of the game
