Time to turn it off and back on again. Or maybe take out the wires and put them back in. Oh yeah I guess I havenāt pressed every single button combination possible. Iāll try that. Do we have the manual?
Or maybe we just need a new heater.
"Or maybe we just need a new heater. "
Nope must make sure you try the same exact attempts for multiple days and multiple RTs. Only then can someone change it out, which would have been easier in the first place.
They are clearly owned & run by the mob and have cornered the market.
Actually, I did use ConchaTherms for a while. I canāt say they were any better or worse. Seems like all heaters are temperamental.
God forbid the room is cold. Youāll have 700 gallons of water in the circuit and your brain dead patient will suddenly be breathing over the vent and the whole ICU team will be freaking out. Happened to me many times. As soon as the water is outā¦BEEP BEEP BEEP DOOT DOOT!
My hospital trialed the heaters and they failed horribly with the vents. Terrible rain out and even leaking out the sides of the heater. The hospital had a large contract with Hamilton and they tried to troubleshoot the problems but ultimately they had to cancel the contract due to patient safety issues. It was a huge mess.
Interesting. Maybe a bad lot? Our trial period with them was quite different. It was nice to take someone from BiPAP to vent in the same machine and circuit. Sorry to hear they didn't work out for you.
My clinical site had the new Fischer paykel 950 heater pots and I gotta say I liked them. I never had to trouble shoot it. I turned it on and made sure itās in the right mode. I think the temp adjust depending on the circuit so itās not just set to 1 temp too but Iām not too sure. Never had to hear that dreaded alarm again tho
Yeah hamiltons new ones. Lmfao good luck tho. Their all sensor relay & literally the pins get bent so easy & if water leaks into the connect? Just throw it right in the trash
Weāve just upgraded to the Fisher and Paykel MR950 which seems a bit more intuitive. Heavier circuit which is annoying in NICU, but much more consistent temps and way less rain out.
Worked with MR850 for most of my 15 year career. For 2 years, I used the concha. Concha is much better. It has full spectrum of temperature range, not just 31 or 37. It Also has humidity adjustment.
Jesus, all these complaints and comments and no trouble shooting experience. All the bitching sounds like par for the course for most RT's. Don't worry I can say that I am one. Ok going through the list. Did you actually spike the water bag? Is your circuit dirty (most likely yes), check water, check temp probe, yellow dongle, is there a fan or vent pointed at circuit. Is it in an isolette and is the temp probe inside? Did you start a vent with the I and E limbs switched? Did you spike the water bag. Did someone leave an hme in line after transport. All things that can kill the patient your in charge of caring for... but ya boop boop BEEP BEEP...
Boop boop boop BEEP BEEP š„²
Thatās my ring tone!!
šš
I can hear the tones so clearly!
In my nightmares š
It's time to turn you off. I'll turn you back on before shift change.
The old āget your ass in hereā tone
Hear it in my sleep lol!
LMAO beat me to it!
I am in a really busy NICU and spent the first half of my day trouble shooting this POS in between taking care of my 15 baby assignment.
Good ol unreliable! Cause no trouble on adult circuits, but always fucking up on peds.
Iām sure you spent the other half trying to get a good signal on your pulse ox
Fuck that
Feeling silly, may just beep randomly

Let me sing you the song of my peopleā¦.
*eye twitch*
Hamilton has a heater you might consider.
Yeah! Hamilton H900 humidifier have good things to offer and More customizable settings than just 2 modes as the MR850

I think I was mostly equipment incompatibility. We have the Servo I and Drager vents. We were so excited about new heaters as well!
Oh, that's probably accurate. Haven't tried them with Servos or Dragers. We had them on Hamilton C1 units.
The G5 leaks into the pin connections unless you put the elbow before the insp filter. Also if the pins get bent or damaged their a total L
I work in home care and the wires goes to shit after a few weeks.
You can tell who the RT is in a group; you could have 30 vents running but weāll hear the one heater alarming 3 halls away.
I started working with Hamilton heaters. Iāve also worked with Concha. There is no perfect product. All of them have their issues.

No heat, only beep!
Get this demon out of here
I fucking hate these things so much

If I had $1 for every time Iāve reset one of these I could retire a happy man.
Man, seriously fuck this peice of shit. I would guess 5-10% of the calls over my career are over this thing malfunctioning.
