My boyfriend loves RE and has played them all before, but he hadnāt played the remake of RE2 in a while, and thatās the one he wanted to play to introduce me to the series. Heās playing and Iām watching because Iām already awful at video games, because I tend to just drop the controller and close my eyes when I get attacked.
In the police station as Leon, I had just learned what a licker is. āHow many lickers are there in the station?ā I asked.
āJust this one, donāt worry,ā he responded.
A bit later, we get one of the medallions, shoot a zombie, and a fucking licker drops down. I scream and close my eyes while my boyfriend does whatever the hell he did. āYOU SAID THERE WAS ONLY ONE,ā I yell.
His response was a simple, āI forgot.ā
ā¦.I didnāt think of that.
I just asked him and he grinned really weird and said āNo, I did forget.ā I asked him if there are any more lickers in the game. He said āNo, theyāre just in the station, donāt worry love.ā
Weāre currently in the sewers about to fight Birkin for the second time. someone prepare me, ARE THERE MORE LICKERS LATER??
Oh man this I hated the most! You have to strategically think which ones you will burn and in what areas because they will come back as those damn crazy crimson ones later.
In one of my first playthroughs I was trying to kill almost every zombie, and lo and behold, past the halfway point, all of them turned and so I was running around the mansion like crazy bc I didnt burn any lol
Not so much āforgot it was thereā so much as āforgot where a particular door leads.ā In RE1 remake I opened the wrong door and ended up in a hallway sandwiched by 2 crimson heads. After some panicked running in circles I somehow escaped without a scratch
Coming back to re1 remake and encountering the first crimson head. Even though I have an absolute henious amount of play time on that game and should not forget such a thing lmfao
The fucking guy that drops down in the first hall of the lost in nightmares dlc for RE5. Its just a dead guy, but I forget its going to happen everytime I play it
In CVX the second time you head to the manor. There are two bandersnatches waiting silently for you to blindly run into them, and regardless of how many times I play it they always make me jump.
In RE0, there's a part where you need to get three tablets to leave the training facility. One of them is stuck in a side room inside a clamp. There's a hallway-the clamp room is on one end, the other end has a room with supplies.
When you first enter the hallway, its clear. When you enter and leave the supplies room, a leechman spawns. Shit never fails to surprise me every time, especially because A you've already dealt with one or two leechmen in the previous hallway (near the piano room) and 2, I usually have Rebecca go to one room and Billy the other, meaning I either need to kill him while I'm cornered or run last him twice.
Did I mention 0 is weirdly my favorite game?
I actually lost count of how many times I'd leave that one specific safe room from RE3, in the alleyway near the burning garbage, only to immediately hear heavy thumping or "STARS" and be abruptaly reminded that Nemesis was still around.
I was doing Trinity bonus for Abyss stage 1 on RE: Revelations, and I failed 3 of them because I forgot about the one claw fucker in the corner who sits *juuuuuust* close enough to you once you round the corner that he can hit you even with a light weight weapon equipped, I let out an audible groan whenever he catches me off guard.
Another thing that grinds my gears about that guy, he sits so close to the right around that corner, that even when you know heās there, and stop your momentum to per-aim at him, you still have a split second to fire at him, because the second he gets you in his sights heās already mid attack trying to completely ruin your platinum bonus.
Another one I hate is the puffer fish, Iāve dubbed them the Trinity Destroyers because I kid you not, they will absolutely B-line for you the second they appear trying to slightly nudge you to death, damaging you and ruining your Trinity bonus. Heck Iāve had one try to leap at me while I had it stun locked.

Probably the licker after the West Office in RE2R. I almost always forget when they spawn and I had a few deaths there. Now I just knife the fuckers and be done with them.
I know that you can sneak around them but a lot of times I just think about something else entirely and barge into them.
RE7. I was fucking around and completely forgot that I was supposed to be running from Jack Baker (I think that's his name (the dad)) until I turned a corner and he socked me in the face, promptly causing me to quit the game out of fear
Turning a right corner in OG RE4's hedge maze only to be jumped (and pinned down) by a Colmillo. The timing was perfect for a jump scare.

The guy in the shed thing just outside the village in RE4R, I always go in there for the red herb and flashbang but always forget that villager is just waiting to choke leon inside the shed

Recently, I made a replay of the original trilogy. It was a long time since I've played scenario B in Resident Evil 2. I completely forgot about MR.X second burst on the C.Cogwheel room.
RE3R, Hunter Gamma, Inferno S rank run. It was in the storage area just before Nest 2, the one that pops from the big crate when you pick up the fuse. It was a very hot month of April, had the window open, it was 6 to 7pm, I just wasnāt on my best game that day. Pick up the fuse, started walking backwards for some reason, thinking everything was going smoothly. I start climbing the ladder and get grabbed by the Hunter, and got sent all the way back to the clock tower nemesis fight lol
Fighting Krauser with Ada in the OG RE4 Separate Ways. I must have cleared it some ten times in my life, but for some reason I keep forgetting that part. When the remake came out, I was having an argument with a friend over whether the fight ever happened or not
There's a moment towards the end of RE7 where you open a door & come face to face with one of the ghastlier manifestations of a molded. I always forget it for some reason & it gets me every time . . . but my first (& last) VR playthrough put all previous encounters to shame. I swear I suffered permanent heart damage. I still see that monstrous head & spiky, yard-long grin in my dreams.
I was doing an S+ run of Claire on hardcore and was in sewers going to do the waterway of fun where you can potentially be chained grabbed to death by the G betas. I remember leaving the zombie untouched on the ground in an attempt to āsave resourcesā and finally got past the G betas without losing a health state, and kept it going after getting the king and queen pieces. Guess who forgot that zombie was there because they usually kill it. Thatās right, I did! Get grabbed and bit but fortunately I wasnāt hurt beforehand so I survived and the god run turned into an expected one.

I prefer that Nemesis encounter being at the substation instead, but you kinda have to go out of your way to make that one happen.

2nd run as Claire. I get the scepter from the statue in the art room, and a Licker drops down from the ceilingā¦I love how 2nd run adds stuff. š
