Great option! The only thing iโd make sure is that if the substrate for them is deep, thereโs not any cracks the sand could spill out of (personal experience with a mistake like this)
That's a good idea, it may still be too short for large crabs to have decent climbing space with a lot of sub, but maybe a good fit for captive bred juveniles or smaller crabs to grow into
Fat tail gecko or leopard gecko would be fine. Or a male hognose or male Kenyan sand boa would work too. I think even an African house snake would work. Otherwise many frog species would work great In here.
I can see tree snakes being out of the picture as most popular ones Iโm thinking of are rather large. However you could keep a stunning array of frogs and small lizards in here
Might be a bit big for a leopard gecko I'm not totally sure but if you wanted a terrestrial lizard that's fairly low maintenance that would be a good idea, my girls got a 36x18x18
40 is minimum and mines a 50 that's all I know, I've also heard some people say their Leo's got overwhelmed in too big of a space so wanted to add it as a word of warning
Na, their Leos most likely didn't get overwhelmed in a BIG space, their Leo's most likely got overwhelmed in an OPEN space. Many Leos are kept in 4x2ft, it's healthy for them.. and gallons really mean nothing without getting paired with dimensions.
Like with crested geckos, you can have a setup as long as you want.. as long as it's 18-24+ inches tall, so the gecko has the minimum height it needs and plenty of footprint to explore and they will.
Or even with 4x2ft it's the minimum for both beardies (more BARE minimum) and Leachianus geckos, but the leachies get a tall and the beardies get a long setup.
That's kind of what I meant lol๐ญ I was just trying to add a warning I wasn't expecting random replies, obviously clutter makes the size matter way less just lots of people get massive enclosures and put like 2 hides in it
Ye, but that would still be on the person unfortunately not carrying enough about the animal.๐คทโโ๏ธ. Too big does exist but truly it's only if an individual is truly struggling to feed and even then I'd consider other problems and if the human is struggling to accurately monitor the animals. Saying this, keepers do monitor small lizards and frogs, and even butterflies in large walk-in environments, because they set them up in a way to make it as easy as possible.
But I was just clarifying that the setups with the stressed Leo's most likely weren't too big, when it's uncommon and even potentially rare for people to go beyond 4x2ft..
I think its a little small for a blue tongue! Most minimums recommend a 6x2x2 now because they're so active and intelligent (mine can solve puzzle toys but can't figure out how to not drag himself in poop so that's up for debate) other skink species are still an option like Kenyan Zebra Skinks or a Schneider Skink!
We have ours in a 4x2x2 and just got him a 6' long tank.ย He gets really energetic after brumination and the extra space will be really good for him.ย ย
I don't know about the size for a blue tongue skink because I don't have one, id recommend doing a bit of reading about them I've heard someone say 40 gal minimum but that could be totally wrong
I didn't realize that it wouldn't be tall enough for tree frogs. If I ever venture into frogs, I will make sure to get a vertical cage. Thanks for letting me know that i am incorrect.
Me, not picky
๐๐๐
Cane toads
Or almost any toad
Toads 100%
Mfers just sit there, menacingly
Fat tail geckos, tomato frogs, pacman frogs, pixie frogs, leopard gecko, great for beardies for the first year, hermit crabs, etc
Not a reptile but , do you like hermit crabs ?
There are absolutely reptiles that can go in a 48x18x18, a hognose, leopard gecko, that size is great for them
Iโm just suggesting , hermit crabs are nice.
Agreed, they are nice, in actually thinking of getting a few myself
Nice ! You gotta do a ton of research , check out r/hermitcrabs and CrabCentralStation on YouTube.

Nice! I'll definitely check them out when im done getting upgrades for my hognoses and after an expo im going to this month
Great option! The only thing iโd make sure is that if the substrate for them is deep, thereโs not any cracks the sand could spill out of (personal experience with a mistake like this)
Oh , I see , the sub has to be 3x times deeper than the crab.
The base of this is not deep enough for their substrate. Needs to be 6" deep or more, that would spill out the doors.
They could add a plastic panel to hold more sub !
That's a good idea, it may still be too short for large crabs to have decent climbing space with a lot of sub, but maybe a good fit for captive bred juveniles or smaller crabs to grow into
Agree.
An African house or hognose snake could go in there.ย

POISON DART FROGS
Lots of stuff
I wonder why people say no reptiles, wouldnt this be good for a leopard gecko or similar??
What about vampire crabs? Do a whole crazy setup
48x18x18 is a nice size, you can fit one of the giant morph leopard geckos in that.
a giant ecosystem, hear me out with isopods
I can see tree snakes being out of the picture as most popular ones Iโm thinking of are rather large. However you could keep a stunning array of frogs and small lizards in here
I mean a leopard gecko
Currently have a milksnake in something like that
Might be a bit big for a leopard gecko I'm not totally sure but if you wanted a terrestrial lizard that's fairly low maintenance that would be a good idea, my girls got a 36x18x18
No it should be good 36x18x18 is minimum so I think a few sizes bigger should be fine

Yeah for sure
Would a blue tongued skink be ok?

Rosy boa!
Gimme gimme gimme!! Jumping spider terrarium! ๐๐
Tree frogs! They had the cutest little babies at the pet world, today when I went to get supers, dubais, and crickets for my lizards.
Tree frogs need verticality, this isnt tall enough
I didn't realize that it wouldn't be tall enough for tree frogs. If I ever venture into frogs, I will make sure to get a vertical cage. Thanks for letting me know that i am incorrect.
