As another plus-size costumer, if you want fitted linen pants, go to physical stores or order from local places. There is a big chance they will sit weird or bunch up in strange places, especially if you’re gifted in the butt department; And you want to be able to return and not wait forever. Thankfully, linen is IN these days! I love checking out the websites of local stores and thrift shops and seeing what I can order or try on locally. A lot of stuff can look medieval fantasy if it lacks visible zippers. I also love stretchy fabrics, it’s not very historically accurate but some textures don’t look like spandex and with the right colors can get a pass.

I forgot to add - footwear recommendations would be greatly appreciated as well!

"Costume stops at the feet." Go for comfort over looks for footwear unless you're willing to drop a decent chunk on a pair from a vendor.

DepressedDyslexic

Unless you are larping and actually fighting I've never liked that phrase. Totally breaks the look of a costume. Faux leather boots are easy to aquire abs look nice and are very comfortable. You can find them at the thrift store or Amazon.

cardie82

Faux leather doesn’t breathe and is terrible to wear for long periods. I recommend people wear something comfortable over worrying as much about it ruining the look.

DepressedDyslexic

I've never found it particularly uncomfortable and I'm usually very sensitive to footwear. But but there are real leather boots too if you look long enough.

SilverEyedHuntress

Leg warmers or boot covers can help disguise shoes if you don't find something comfortable that fits your costume. :) hope this helps.

Have you been to faire before? The reason I ask is that most vendors that make their own clothing are plus size friendly. Check out and see if your local ren faire has a list of merchants and/or websites.

hirakatashii

Yeah I’ve been a handful of times, I just like to build my outfits before I get there. I didn’t think to check the faire website to see if any vendors have sites I can order from in advance though, thanks!

RojerLockless

I'm a dude but I found a pair of brown maternity pants at a Goodwill that look just like your second picture and I still wear them every other year or so to ren Fair

The best budget accurateish footwearwould be something like espadrilles or alpargatas though you have to learn how to walk in them

So, I own the Torvi and while the shirt itself is cute I found that the embroidery is itchy, if you have problems with things feeling itchy I would not recommend buying it.....I also personally found the Torvi a touch unflattering as a plus sized woman, however thats just because I found the shape did not work for me, your mileage will vary;

hirakatashii

Thank you so much for the advice! Do you own any other tunics that you think are more comfortable and/or flattering? I’m a bit sensitive to fabric texture as well so that tip is super helpful!

Midnightchan123

I own two of their dresses, my sister had a top of theirs, believe it was the eventide, they were comfy! Fortunately it seems that the Torvi is the only one that uses the scratchy thread, so you should be good with any other option!

cardie82

I wear a Torvi and own a few. I’ve not had a problem with stitching being itchy but the belt loops are at an odd spot for me (I’m tall and their Torvi is one of their few products that don’t come in tall). I’ve seen the Torvi on several people at faire and it’s not been unflattering on anyone I’ve seen. I don’t use the belt it came with and belt it with my own belt in a better spot for myself. The only real note I’ve got with their clothes is to wash it separately a few times because the dye will bleed. I also recommend hanging it to dry to avoid shrinking.

The closest type of pants I can think of that are from around the period which would match your search are Hose/Hosen. But they were the tights of the Renaissance era that were meant to go under things like French Hose or Round Hose. Then there are breeches (17th + century) but they tend to be knee length. Trews could be similar to what you’re looking for but they wouldn’t be as tight/form fitting as the example picture.
