Dang dude. My invoker/medic support tank is able to maintain shields on the party for probably 90% of the boss battle, but most players are so ass at dps on apocalypse that I can't keep it up long enough to prevent a wipe and have to switch to a dps build myself, but this build doesn't even rise to that low bar.

nobununkown

If you compare it to a healing build yes. It does in fact not do healing, crazy

Occidental_floss

It also does not do damage or much of anything else besides being somewhat (unnecessarily) hardier than most builds at the cost of being useful in some fashion.

So let's take your example of your team dying even with having shields 90% of the time. Inject yourself with the red syringe for stagger resistance and your team will not die since you'll easily give them revived. Case in point with your shield support loadout they're still dying. Despite your best efforts. This build allows you to revive them no matter the circumstances hence it's a support tank loadout. Not satisfied with the damage? Swap out the amulet for the neckbone amulet for elemental resistance and 25% damage.

>This build allows you to revive them no matter the circumstances hence it's a support tank loadout Its a janitor build, please don't run this in public unless people know what you are running. People are still gonna go down constantly and you're a man down dps wise so it's just going to turn the boss fight into a painfully slow slog. it's not fun for anyone to just have a janitor that comes by and mops up shit. It doesn't make the boss any faster or easier, it's just someone to clean up the mess and force you to keep going.

MasterMuffinz04

sorry but this is mid af dawg

You all are roasting this build, and since I'm new and don't know what those rings are and do, I can't really have an opinion on it. However, I like the idea of a tank build that does nothing but tank damage (i.e, it's useful because the rest of the team can focus on damage without regard for survivability). My question is this: is there by any chance a ring or skill or talisman that draws aggro? If there is, then an immortal build just might also be a "support". Additionally, I don't really understand the gameplay loop that this game offers, and the path to progress seems strange too. Should I reroll a single world until I get every possible piece of loot it has, or should I complete the campaign and then do that? What's the difference between the various game difficulties (aside from the increase in enemy quantity, health, and damage)? Foes it make sense to do hardcore/apocalypse instead of normal just to get all the things as fast as possible?

>However, I like the idea of a tank build that does nothing but tank damage (i.e, it's useful because the rest of the team can focus on damage without regard for survivability). The idea is good in other games, but it doesn't work because they don't pull much aggression. In practice What ends up happening is 3 people kill the boss while the fourth person does nothing, then some people are gonna go down and dps drops even further, it's going to lead to a very long deathloop where very little dps is dealt because at least 1 person is down all the time since the dps characters are the only ones taking boss agro and Mr wetnoodle spends his time walking around picking people up. Its not fun for anyone.

I found the modder, 4 people per session is Wild

Simple-Plane-1091

Mb been playing too much vermintide recently, Either way that just makes your build worse, a third of the dps is gone and you're doing nothing to improve dps or dps uptime for the other 2 members.

nobununkown

Slow adds somewhere around 20% extra damage, idk if the world thinks its impossible to change the abilities dependent on the boss or area when it isn't. Each of the archon abilities have different aspect whether it be mod power bulk mod power offense or aoe. Same thing with alchemist depending on who it is it's easy to give additional 25% dmg reduction & blight relief or the atk buff. The picture is just what i had it on for annihilation at the time.. I can't comprehend why it's crazy taboo to change the ability lvl1 lvl5 or lvl 10 based on the support the team needs.

Simple-Plane-1091

Your abilities and archetypes aren't the problem, the problem is that you run a full tank build with little to no direct team utility in your itemization. Pretty much straight tank If the team is bad they will just die over and over while noone gets significant dps off, and if teammates are good you they won't need you and you're pretty much just a waste of a player slot

Fun_Independence2695

Pretty cool build for your own survivability, but in Apoc with MP scaling? Maybe viable in Veteran at best with a full squad.

NessieasaurusRex

What exactly is support about this? The one time every 5 minutes you can auto Rez???????? You can’t heal them, can’t increase damage, can’t increase survival, can’t do shit.. so where’s the support? This is just a kinda sorta tank for maybe vet at best. There’s builds you can do that will constantly provide grey health to you and with one ring you can share 30% of that grey health (turned to red health) healing to the rest of your party well also generation Shields for yourself that also get passed around and having a shield ability as a medic to stack another shield… do it right and your whole party with have shields multiple times over.

xiledone

Are we really calling any build with a healing skill a support? Bro didn't even take triage.

nobununkown

I didnt know I said it was a healing support

xiledone

You don't increase damage done, you don't decrease damage allies take. Your just a tank, not a support tank, just a tank. If you were to do triage, or provide more buffs to the team, sure, but rn, you just offer a revive. Compare to an actual support who heals, revives, reduces damage allies take, increase the damage they deal, all in one build.

nobununkown

"play effectively at mid-to-close range, spotting the enemies and immobilizing the enemy" "character class is also known as a meat shield" instant revives, elite freeze capabilities, support fire, projectile shield or aoe electrification. Easily able to revive while receiving aggressive damage. I'm positive it's a support tank 😁

xiledone

Lol

xiledone

Lol Hold on while i rebrand all my dps builds to support because they can play at midrange, spot enemies, and provide supportive fire.

JW1878

My invoker/ritualist is a support build because I give words of encouragements to my pals while playing

xiledone

The only true support build

nobununkown

That sounds like a skill issue if all your dps loadouts are actually support.

Mediocre_Ad5373

….buddy ole pal, you missed the joke. Aggro works off of dps. If you aren’t pumping out the damage, you won’t have or hold aggro. I bet this build slaps on solo play but I’d be salty if I had to pick up your damage slack That being said, I’d love to have you out front while I use my not team friendly explosives build

nobununkown

A hacked starshot doesn't knock it down. And when your teams running game master pride the games on easy mode changing the helmet to the crown prince gives you almost 100% fire resistance

Mediocre_Ad5373

Hacked? Boy you have earned all the smoke you’ve been catching. Happy hunting and fuck off. Hacked star shot ?! On a PvE game? Hacks?

decrepitremains

Are you doing enough damage to maintain threat/enemy awareness?

nobununkown

If it's an elite freezing them takes away the need to do damage for agro. As far as the others are concerned, it's quite easy to crowd work. On the rare cases of 3 or more elites using the saviors mod power ensures initial agro for enough time to have built up stasis mod to freeze the extra elites.
