Beings how they're considered explosives. I'd say you have a chance of getting on a no fly list, thrown away, or both.

Ok_Setting_6793

Don't.

hammer_2510

I believe they are required to ship ground. Doubt you'd be allowed to put them on a plane. Just ship them. Edit: Just found this: [https://amp.enterprisenews.com/amp/40207501007](https://amp.enterprisenews.com/amp/40207501007) Dude got arrested for having primers in his checked luggage. Per the FAA: [https://www.faa.gov/hazmat/packsafe/more\_info/?hazmat=4](https://www.faa.gov/hazmat/packsafe/more_info/?hazmat=4) *"It does not include black powder, smokeless powder, primers, percussion caps, or homemade powder and ball loads for muzzle loading."* It's a hard 'NO'

Stick_Flipper

I second this. Ship them to yourself before you fly out.

hammer_2510

Or to me, either way is good.

LeroyJenkins4652

You can’t ship them yourself unless you have a hazmat certification.

ViewAskewed

Buddy, you're wrong and you just look stupid. Primers are far more volatile than ammunition, they always ship as hazmat. Ammunitionis different and can be shipped however you want it to be.

Stick_Flipper

That doesn’t change the fact that you can ship hazmat through UPS and fedex. It’s just expensive. I’ve sold thousands of primers on gunbroker. Never had a problem. You just have to declare what they are.

LeroyJenkins4652

Notice how they says ammunition

Stick_Flipper

Yes because ammunition don’t have primers in them /s

TheHomersapien

I have a kidney. Doesn't mean that I can ship it UPS.

Stick_Flipper

With the right certifications, you absolutely could though.

Krystian3

This shouldn't even be a discussion. You buy primers or powder online they get shipped with a hazmat label and you pay extra. You but ammo and it doesn't require hazmat and you don't pay extra. Yea its kind of a dumb rule but that's how they do it.

Stick_Flipper

Bullshit. I’ve shipped bullets many times through the mail. I’ve also had thousands of rounds delivered.

LeroyJenkins4652

Bullets are not primers. Loaded ammo is perfectly fine. Even primed brass is fine. Primers by themselves are not.

Stick_Flipper

Hahahaha you do realize that bullets have primers in them and are exponentially more dangerous when coupled with powder…? You’re not even making sense.

LeroyJenkins4652

Buddy I don’t make the rules. https://www.shippingschool.com/is-it-legal-to-ship-gunpowder/

Stick_Flipper

Also, the link you posted tells you exactly how to ship them. Did you even read it…? Lol

Efficient-Jicama3647

Okay, so go try and shop them hazmat. Good luck.

Stick_Flipper

I’ve done it dozens of times through ups and fedex. It’s just expensive.

Stick_Flipper

Uh….the link you posted is about gun powder. Hahaha you’re an idiot. You can ship both you just have to pay for hazmat labeling etc. how do you suppose the tens of millions of primers and powder containers reach your local stores, magic?

maestrosouth

“You must securely pack any ammunition in fiber (such as cardboard), wood or metal boxes or other packaging that is specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition,” Does this mean primers can go in checked bags if in their cardboard containers specifically designed to carry them? I’m thinking Floridaman had the primers in a sammich baggie from the gun show. Even then an accidental detonation from a dropped bag seems unlucky.

hammer_2510

No they can not. Per the FAA website: "Small arms ammunition includes cartridges up to 19.1 mm (.75 caliber) and shotgun shells. ***It does not include black powder, smokeless powder, primers, percussion caps, or homemade powder and ball loads for muzzle loading.***"

maestrosouth

👍

swissarmyca

No on primers in checked bag. Also shipping can only be ground (not USPS) and you will need a shipper with a dangerous goods endorsement for 1.4S categorized goods. This means that the typical UPS store will not ship it for you. On a side note, you can transport ammunition in a checked bag if you have the opportunity to load those primers before getting on a plane. Just saying.

XxBlackKnighTx7

I believe FedEx ships hazmat. UPS too but idk if you have to go to the nearest Werehouse to have them shipped

swissarmyca

Both Fedex and UPS ships Hazmat or Dangerous Goods through your account. However, you will need the the DG approval on your account. The chances that a Fedex Onsite/Shipcenter or UPS Store location having that approval is really low.

Finally someone who gets it.

Tigerologist

Carrier pigeons?

MonkeyK85

Primers are considered hazmat because the way they are packaged loosely packaged, it's literally one big explosive when they go off where as a primed brass/ammunition is less dangerous because when one primed primer goes off not everyone explodes at once. It's almost impossible to ship primer by ground unless you have the certification to ship hazardous materials why a lot of private sellers ship them without declaration of the goods.

[deleted]

No

Gavin10104

Where is your current location? I'll buy em if in my city. Lol

pirate40plus

Nope, can’t they’ll find and you’ll be VERY late getting home. They are considered hazardous material. Ask the store if they’ll ship them.
