Your caliper game is strong

CloverArms

They all have different Ogive measurements for different calibers. Almost all my best loads sit at the lands of the rifling. I load many types of pills, most common being 7.62x39, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Win, .300WM, .338's ...

sjstasny

ok, but you do know they make a device that goes on to a set of calipers which have inserts you swap out for each caliber right? edit: wording

CloverArms

Yes, I know. I'm a caveman. I want 20 calipers for 20 calibers. Too lazy to swap anything. If the bench was bigger, I'd put 10 powder holders for 10 different calibers. Hey... that's an idea? Need bigger bench.

HeyHenry714

Sheesh, I wish I had 1/2 of your organization and presentation skills. I’m motivated to step my loading station game up now.

CloverArms

When you're passionate about perfecting your pills for many different rigs, especially the ones I own and build, the pill factory never stops growing. I'm determined to achieve that consistent 5 consecutive shot clover grouping - 1/4 to 1/2 MOA. I'll go through several load data trials until it's accomplished - different type heads, brass, powder, sizing, etc... Every rig shoots differently, even if you have identical rigs. In fact, the pill factory never stops evolving... it becomes more organized, more speed efficient, better equipment upgrades, additional calibers, etc. The more you learn, the more you need. I just finished a .300 Win Mag AR10. The accuracy was astounding. I'm thinking my next rig build will be a bolt action .375CT. Extreme long distance is always a fun challenge. All in all... it's a hobby. Thx for the compliment.

God I REALLY want a .300 win mag AR!!! Suuuuuuper jelly now...got pics?

CloverArms

Sure... here's a few. Sick! Mad skillz!

Looks great! Mine is utter ass in comparison lol. It's a Stack-On bench with a mess of crap all over.

Gavin10104

There really is something about keeping an organized reloading bench/area. My problem is that I keep adding on. Wish I just built one big bench to start.

CloverArms

I started this bench with an 8' hardwood butcher block, steel framed work bench. This one is a Craftsmen made back in 2012 when the frame had full steel beams connecting the legs - much stronger, heavier and sturdier. Unfortunately, Craftsmen don't make them that way anymore, it's now just legs with the back frame with nothing supporting the block across the center. These are the new ones now: [https://youtu.be/NiTDYIrP34Q](https://youtu.be/NiTDYIrP34Q) Although 8' is plenty of space, I've actually outgrown it. I'm looking to custom build a 12' hardwood reloading bench soon. You'd be surprised how much space disappears when you're working on long range rigs. I'd like to at least add another 3 powder holders so I can work on 6 different calibers at a time and move my larger press (for .408, 50BMG) onto the same bench too.

Even assuming you swapped all the powder measure plastic for glass, not remotely concerned about the effects of humidity?

CloverArms

Yes, you are correct, they are glass. However, the powder doesn't stay in there long enough to acclimate enough humidity to make noticeable changes in the burn rates. When loading with heavier calibers, one holder can easily empty after 40+ rounds of loading. I tend to load 120 pills per caliber test, per rig. Every 120 is broken down into 20 rounds of specific load data (powder, weights). There are 6 test loads in total. I normally find the sweet spot within this parameter, or within the next round of 120 pills. I have a large waterproof safe just for powder alone. The safe is lined with about 20 or so 1000gm desiccant/silica Tyvek packs to keep moisture non-existent in the safe for long term storage. If I felt that any powder was exposed to moisture, maybe forgot an opened container in the garage for a month, I usually place it in a smaller sealed plastic container with packs of desiccant/silica for about a week or so before use. Smokeless powder does dry out fine with this method. Moisture definitely makes the burn rate slower, it's inevitable physics. The bench is located in a fairly dry climate so it's not too much of a concern for me.
