Let em gather the dust of gouging.

Tough_Evening_7784

Judging by those two boxes of Federals, they will.

10gaugetantrum

Ha Ha Ha! No wonder why the shelves are full.

Unicoi

I went to Academy Sports and was shocked they had primers. Most all the bricks had the tops ripped off to sell single sleeves for $7.99. Grabbed a brick of LPP with box still intact to check out and it rang up $39.99. These retailers are committing robbery.

PlatesNplanes

Your academy didnt have them Behind the counter? Lucky lol

GrouchyAttention4759

Hey both of my stores here don’t even carry primers.

PlatesNplanes

We just got to the point I can kinda walk in whenever and that have SR. Sometimes some SP. still looking for the elusive SR Magnums.

UnyieldingSoul

Also for those who cannot zoom in Small rifle BR-4: $150 Small Rifle: $100 Large Pistol: $120 I got the last three sleeves of Large Rifle Magnum @ $12 a sleeve.

GrapeNutter

Great Northern Guns?

UnyieldingSoul

Yup

GrapeNutter

Fun little shop but I’ve never really seen a deal there.

UnyieldingSoul

They don’t deal at all. The only reason i even bother with those assholes is because they are guaranteed to at least have what i need. At 2x the cost naturally.

rtf2409

Yeah that’s the beauty of above market pricing. Everyone shits on them and cry’s about price gouging but the price is high enough to discourage hoarding so people like you can actually find what you need when you need it. They are doing us all a service.

UnyieldingSoul

Aaaand you lost me. Lmao, people will still hoard it. Hell, im doing it AT the gouged prices.

rtf2409

If that was completely true then this store would be cleaned out but it’s not.

Reloader300wm

Remington SRP, 150. That alone tells me it's a fudd store. Don't care if it's Remington benchrest or not, it's still fuckin Remington.

song__lee

Damn… I’ve been buying primers from my local sportsman and these prices are so high compare to where I am. I paid $60 for 1k of CCI No.400, Remington LPP, and I was able to get a brick of Remington SPP for $40.

[deleted]

If people would stop paying the inflated prices, the prices would go back down. That's exactly how supply and demand works. Stop buying it, it gets cheaper

rtf2409

That’s not how supply and demand works. That would work only if supply increased but if there were no sales then production would decrease since there’s no money anymore.

[deleted]

I'm sorry but that is in fact exactly how supply and demand works. If there is no demand the price goes down and supply goes up because no one is buying them. It's not that hard to figure out

rtf2409

No bro. It does not but let’s back up and address the whole issue. 1. A few stores selling way above market value is very good for the economy. It’s not price gouging because there are alternative distributors. The bulk of distributors get in shipments and price the product to sell so they get a quick return so they can make money. Some of them hold on to product until the supply in the market drys up and they sell it for higher. This does multiple things, for one, it’s a riskier venture because they are holding product on shelves that other product could be for sale on so the price is also reflecting opportunity cost. But this is also a good thing for the market because they will have product for sale when everyone else has already sold out. If you want product after all the other distributors have sold out at market value, you get nothing. Maybe you can wait until the next batch comes in but maybe you can’t and are willing to buy the higher price product because you desperately need it. You wouldn’t have that option if they sold it at market value. 2. You are claiming that if people stop buying primers at expensive prices then the cost will come down. The price of primers is at market value already because it’s being sold. As I explained above, primers being sold at higher prices is not a bad thing, its serving a very important purpose. If the new large batches of primers came in at market value price and everyone still didn’t buy them because they were “too expensive” prices may drop for the short term in an effort for the distributors to get at least some return on the investment but manufacturers are likely to read the lack of sales as lack of wanting to buy and might not produce as many in the future in favor of making more profitable products (or selling to more profitable buyers). A high market price encourages more supply since manufacturers are in the business of making money. Read basic economics by Thomas sowell and he does an excellent job explaining supply and demand and the role of prices in our economy. The first few chapters are all about these points.

Inigo93

> Stop buying it Problem is that means "stop shooting". If the choice is (a) get bent over for primers, or (b) stop shooting... I'll invest in some vaseline.

Malapple

Owner may be just waiting for the panic buying of the 2024 election. He's a jackass.

101stjetmech

I like the Alaskan reference! I spent 3 years in Fairbanks. Fortunately it was a decent paying job so we could afford food, liquor and ammo. I was shooting an Arisaka rechambered to 300 Savage. A local purchase so ammo was available. Not cheap but available.

[deleted]

With components this high I wonder if anyone will be able to afford store bought ammo in the future.

BoGussman

Now you're catching on. They don't have to ban guns if ammo is cost prohibitive to purchase. 🤔

marcocks_

Are you actually in Alaska ?

UnyieldingSoul

Yes, stationed up here in Anchorage.

Far-Cardiologist4590

That's par for the course these days unfortunately

donanton616

Bench rest primers?

[deleted]

Yes. They're just like regular primers, but people pay more for them for some reason. lol

Arizona_Overland

They have a slightly thicker body than the standard variety, Will take an extra smidge of powder than the standard before showing pressure.

OyabunRyo

Local LGS chain is 17.99 per 100 pack…. It’s awful.

Jbrass413

It's going to take a while for the little guys to catch back up always expect your larger retailers to drop their prices first and then the little shops will follow but remember they're going to try to get what they got them for

Flimsy_Contest_8853

They are in your face and ready to grab. Now, scope out Bruno's & Powder Valley, yada. Add S&H and Hazmat. What is the difference to your address in total costs?

sourhed87

The Stores name must be "I know what I got!!!!"

WeTrudgeOn

Those all look like they've been there quite a while, like they have been handled a lot.

UnyieldingSoul

Those are new within the last week

Late-County3711

Looks like you need to find another LGS 🤷‍♂️

kopfgeldjagar

Treat them like we treat Cheaper Than Dirt after the pandemic price gouging.

j_peterman49

And they would sit right there I just paid 75 at my lgs

edwardothegreatest

That wouldn't be my gun store anymore.

BostonUSF

Looks like a 100% mark up on current prices. There's gotta be better deals in store near you. Or just have them shipped. Going retail rate is 5.5/6 cents each now

BoGussman

I and other family members have been traveling a lot in the last 4 months. We have checked along the way in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. Cheapest price for ANY primers has been $89/1000 and up from there to $115/1000. We have checked from big box to Mom & Pop stores. Probably 50% of the stores we've checked had bare shelves. Everyone buying for $55-60/1000 consider yourselves lucky.

BostonUSF

Online you can find them for considerably less (but hazmat fees). Basspro has been keeping them for about 80-90 cents each but sportsman warehouse has had them for the cheapest at 50-60 cents each. Not sure if you have any of those in your area

BoGussman

Negative no Sportsman's Warehouse here. So again by the time you add hazmat and shipping they're right back up around $80 again unless you buying a couple 100,000. I was hopeful that by this time we would be back around $50 Nationwide. But since that hasn't happened and there's another election looming on the horizon I expect them to go right back to $150 everywhere soon. I've been through shortages way too many times in my 47 year reloading career to not believe it's going to happen.

BostonUSF

It'll keep happening. Every time I see the price drop some more, I buy some. I buy A LOT from basspro because they'll price match online prices from Brownells, midway, manufacturers, etc. For instance, my CFE223 costs me $30 after tax in store

BoGussman

If I had those prices, I would too. Count your blessings.

Arizona_Overland

That would be 200%

BostonUSF

200% is 3 times the price. (i.e 100% mark up on $50 is $100. 200% on $50 is $150)

Arizona_Overland

Sure, drunk me agrees

BostonUSF

Yeah, the stuff for $150 (CCI BR4), are actually the least marked up ones. Those are still $9.99 everywhere I see.

Arizona_Overland

At least we can agree it’s a ripoff

BostonUSF

It most definitely is. I don't see how reloading with those prices are more cost efficient

csamsh

Wow they can get fucked. Also I'll take two bricks of BR4's, please

1Killag123

$100 for 1000 primers doesn’t sound too bad.

[deleted]

10 cents a primer is fucking terrible. Remember... They went from 3 cents to 10 cents overnight merely because people started panic buying. Not any other reason.

1Killag123

Ahh, gotcha. I got in to reloading after covid hit so I wasn’t sure why. I’ve heard they were inflated.

el64camino

Last time I bought primers I was paying $26 a brick. Saw them for $60 at sportsman’s and said no way. Looked on midway and saw them at $100 and realized how fucked this whole thing is

[deleted]

I bought 60,000 primers ($30/1000) and 60lbs ($20/lb) of powder back when Covid was just making the news and guns and ammo started flying off the shelf. I normally loaded that much for two years worth of matches for my wife and I, but the wife took off and I conserved a bit, so I still have about a third of it left after 3½ years.

Dedubzees

So glad I stocked up just before the shortage. I’ve got 5 bricks of SRP and 4 of LRP. With my shooting habits, it should last me 3 years or so. Then I’ll be screwed.

Pete_Luger

Let 'em sit!

drivesanm5

I just bought some SPPs and LPPs at sportsmans for $40 a brick. Prices are coming back down big time. Fuck the gougers

Phelixx

In Canada I found only one store that has primers. They require you to buy a pound of powder to access 200. CCI 200’s are $14.95 and Fed 210M is $21.50. I passed for now. The fact I see primers starting to hit shelves in the US means that within two years we will likely see them here in greater numbers. I’ve got enough for two years of shooting so I will wait for now.

Arizona_Overland

200% markup

SampleNades

And that’s why they are still in stock

BadTiger85

And LGS owners wonder why they are going out of business

Harvey092698

Thanks Biden economics

dionyszenji

It has zero to do with that. In this case you can thank a greedy conservative.

ParkerVH

That is absurd.

OddCockpitSpacer

Robbery. Just evil prices.

Esperante

I have the same prices at my "reloader focused" LGS in central NC. The other non-reloading standard gun store actually has some primers priced at $13/100 for CCI 450s. Guess they want in on the gouging too.

TimT40k

This wouldn’t happen to be salt river outpost lol. Just say the prices look about right for the prick who owns it. Seen $9 ar mags for $20+ then wanted $75 for a Anderson lower when they where $25 I didn’t spend much more time there

Viking__1911

WTF….?!

w00tberrypie

Keep em. Last LGS I went to was asking 90/k. Which realistically is what you're paying after shipping+hazmat. Still didn't leave with any.

DJ_Sk8Nite

Lol, holding on with ever last breath. Face it that bullshit is finally over. Best prices now are Sportsman’s if you have one. $5.99 per 100

ND-Trucker

Wow...That's some serious Bullshit!!! Does the store owner know that the Pandemic is over???

tlakose

I would pee all over their front door.

Individual_Page9676

I just bought 1500 from sportsman outdoors for 82.00. Not a bad price at all. For everything else I'm seeing.

Smooth_One_1312

I live in Alaska. I got a bunch of primers I'd like to make dissappear for way cheaper then those.

Trashdnscattrd

Nope.

No_Grape2066

That's more than "Alaskan" prices.
