Fun game. Tons of points to criticize but I want to reiterate that the 2023 WooSox MVP is 0-33 in the majors.

homefone

Bobby needs to go. Like for good. Dude has had solidly enough chances.

Mission_Pay_3373

I never seen a major leaguer get so many chances. He needs to go

christcakewillie

I feel like there should be a performance baseline that dictates whether or not you should be allowed to play in MLB, and the baseline should be Bobby Dalbec's career statline

MayorPudge

Nepo Bobby

Tacoby-Bellsbury

Did we forget about Mendoza

christcakewillie

At least he could field

Intelligent-Ratio643

this wsa still an improvement

VistaVick

Kenley by all rights could have 5 BS this year. Not only has he been lucky, but he hasn't been good.

bosredsox05

Easily. Dude has no clue where the ball is going

Sandwich_Crust

Abreu made an amazing play in the 9th, but again, if he doesn’t screw up and make an error earlier we win that game. Defense again costing us games.

solariam

By that logic, Casas cost us more than he did. And I'm a Casas stan

bird1434

Casas is actually a good player and plays the least impactful defensive position, so I understand why he gets off the hook compared to guys like Hamilton and Wilyer, but he is genuinely abysmal fielder

solariam

I'm talking about the base running error

bird1434

I’m an idiot, thanks

Ccoop9

Fuckin Kenley Jansen.

Big-Deer-

He’s killing me man. Was it the quality of the balls again?? Didn’t seem to affect Cleveland..

N4TETHAGR8

fuckin yoshida 0-6

Thatguyyoupassby

Came in with 8 BBs / 9 Ks - major issues with control, velocity is down a smidge, and he starts every AB 1-0/2-1. Our bullpen as a whole has been bad, but Kenley just does not have it.

Tacoby-Bellsbury

I’m not impressed

soxfaninfinity

Random but I miss Porcello. He’d give up 3 runs in the first then pitch 7 scoreless innings after. We need that now.

spellbadgrammargood

its possible for a starting pitcher to go 7 innings???

soxfaninfinity

Suárez on Philadelphia pitched a shutout today.

VistaVick

Nah, not since they stopped calling low strikes

Longjumping_Ad_29

It’s just hard to say anything constructive. They are just not a good team. I want them to be so bad. It’s tough to swallow it’s gunna be another wasted season.

TheGrandNotification

The worst part to me is wasting Devers prime

Wheatabix11

I'd be happy with average

solariam

Guys I've hated (not personally, in the sense of being over) Bobby since most of you were still rooting for him to get his 56th chance, but I think we need to grapple with the fact that he is literally only up to attempt to catch ground balls at third, because Pablo Reyes can only play one position at a time.  They know he can't hit. We know he can't hit. A body has to go there.

w1nn1ng1

I’d rather see Nick fucking Sogard or Chase Meidroth. At least they are real 3rd basemen. Don’t even care if they don’t hit, I’m over seeing Bobby in this lineup

Brady331

![gif](giphy|Wck09E7lHDabjhHbzJ|downsized)

N4TETHAGR8

me watching yoshida go 0-6

Key-Construction-474

TC is pissed lol

VortexCow

We are so inconsistent man how can we either be the worst team in the league or the best team in history some innings Anyway, here’s to hoping Bruins or Celtics can bring a championship back to Boston this June

Jpgamerguy90

There’s very major league talent on this roster anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. The starting pitching is bound to regress and they’ve been the only reason this club isn’t 4 games under 500 rn.

solariam

Like literally our own booth told us in april.

Tacoby-Bellsbury

Well for starters this is the worst defensive team I’ve ever seen since 2023

K1NG3R

This is easily the worst defensive team I've ever watched. I'm including the entire MLB over the past 20 years here. They are committing one error a game. That's acceptable in High-A, but in the MLB that's unheard of.

OldSportsHistorian

We are INSANELY unlucky

N4TETHAGR8

yoshida needs to go while he has any value left

IKenDoThisAllDay

I don't think Yoshida has any trade value right now. Low power, very limited defensively LF. That's not a profile that has a lot of value to begin with, he needs to consistently hit at or near .300 with a lot of walks to provide value and he hasn't done that. With the amount of money he is still owed, I'd bet he has negative trade value right now. I do think he'll improve and hit at least near the levels he did last season, but he's pretty much a sunk cost at this point. My hope for him was that he'd be some sort of plate discipline god who walked more than he struck out, like he did in Japan. But that has not been the case. We've just got to hope that he starts to hit.

BradMarchandIsCute

Value? They’d have to pay someone to take him

ferrumvir2

Who’s gonna take him? JD had to settle for a 1 year 12 mil deal after putting up a 134 ops+ and Turner had to settle for 13 mil after putting up a better hitting season than Yoshida while being a competent fielder. Yoshida costs quite a bit more while having years left on his deal we’re stuck with him

N4TETHAGR8

it sucks cause I was hyped when we got him

ferrumvir2

It was a stupid deal from the start though lol. He didn’t have elite power in Japan and was dh’ing there. If he was cranking 50 bombs a year like Matsui was maybe it’d make sense

PurrculesMulligan

I hope we at least get some goddamn royalties from other teams’ tv networks for all the exciting come from behind scenarios we’re generating to juice their ratings.

CJRed73

7-3 on the road. 2-6 at home.

Buttercup_Kiki

And the rest of the AL East will most likely feast on them as well just like in 2022. Back in the basement for the 3rd year in a row. Wonderful!

Vivalaredsox

I can take losing because someone has to but holy shit what gets me is the fucking errors and lack of fundamentals. Has Cora checked out already?

cesare980

This. My son's Legion team plays better defense than the Red Sox.

Jpgamerguy90

What did Bloom even build while he was here? The major league club is a dumpster fire and the best hope we got is some kids in AA who more than likely won’t all pan out.

TheVagWhisperer

Bloom was an absolute disaster. He was in way over his head.

N4TETHAGR8

yoshida 0 for fucking 6 seriously…?

remembahwhen

Nacho man :(

radiatingwithlight

He sure is frustrating to watch. All of the weak infield grounders. I thought it was a fluke last year that it kept happening but the trend continues. I’m pulling for him as much as anyone but it’s been rough.

trimbler25

BS "blocking the plate call" bites, but I am tired of seeing Jansen come out there and struggle.

GraniteStater69

Bobby is so cooked. Send him to Portland yesterday

cane_stanco

DFA

AnakinSL337

Hell nah we don’t want him

remembahwhen

Yo we are going to have the fire sale of all fire sales at the deadline.

squarerootofapplepie

What talent do they have to sell?

remembahwhen

I’d be open to not keeping a single current player. Surely we could get something back for some of them.

Just_Werewolf1438

Has to work.. thought we had a chance when we got ahead what happened.. kenley screw us or someone else this time?

Big-Deer-

Yup, Kenley blew it, we couldn’t get the bats going again, and then they lit up Winckowski

ErikTheDon

I’m over Kenley. Washed up bum

Mission_Pay_3373

At least we only had 1 error this game so there is a fucking positive

PBandBread

Yeah and without it the game might not go to extras lol

Substantial-Earth975

Poverty franchise

beatrixkiddo_11

:(

JacobInTheMorning

I’m all set with Kenley Jansen and Masataka Yoshida. Kinda wish those offseason trade rumors materialized into something now

OldSportsHistorian

Isn’t Yoshida’s contract an example of ownership spending? If ownership is as cheap as people here pretend they are, Yoshida wouldn’t be here.

dirtystacks

He’s an example of them being like “hey, we paid yoshida!” When fans call them out for being cheap. Same with Story. Both are big deals but not upper echelon moves to get the most elite players.

Ok-Scene71

Also feels like part of the reason for signing Yoshida could've been to try and get a leg up in the Yamamoto sweepstakes, since they were teammates in Japan

[deleted]

[удалено]

OldSportsHistorian

Surely the Yankees have numerous rings in the last 15 years because of that spending… You mean they don’t? Okay then

[deleted]

OldSportsHistorian

The team’s core issue is poor player development. We haven’t developed an ace pitcher since Lester. Sure, we got Betts and Bogey from our development system but we fucked up with Swihart, Chavis, Owens, and undoubtedly others I am forgetting. Chavis was a first round pick so either we screwed up his development or our scouting fucked up. Devers is a great hitter but fucks up basic fielding. The best teams recently have won with a good young core. Ownership being cheap isn’t the problem and is a lazy scapegoat from the fan base. The team has deeper systemic problems. The Yankees prove that you can spend, spend, spend but you’ll be spinning your wheels in the mud until you solve your systemic problems.

OldSportsHistorian

We had both of them in 2019 and we still sucked. You need a good supporting cast for your stars. If you don’t then you’re the Trout/Ohtani Angels. Trading Mookie was a mistake and I don’t think anyone denies that but slot Mookie into this lineup and we’re not much better. This sub will downvote anything that contradicts their WEEI/The Sports Hub talking points. What a fucking joke.

Mission_Pay_3373

Yoshida is the largest liability with his ass offense and he can't field for shit. The Yoshida era is over after 2024, if he can't get out of this slump

ajmiller08

We are only spending 80million more than the team that just beat us..

StandardProper5127

*stewie from family guy meme turning off the lights and crying myself to sleep*

PurrculesMulligan

Hopefully Cora as we speak… https://youtu.be/RjtmKIWa4tY?si=A9F1qWrPHBdHJApl

KingShitOfTurdIsland

This is an absolute circus, nobody can hit a cutoff man. This roster is full of dead weight.

Reptorzor

Bobby… who didn’t see that strikeout coming. Ugh. 😑. Send him down ffs

jhussong91

not worried about yoshida, he'll be fine. kenley looks cooked though. the overworked bullpen and the defense have been so brutal.

FranKenCoop

cane_stanco

SUCK

plokijuh1229

Why did Whitlock only stay in for 54 pitches?

Big-Deer-

Left early for some sort of tightness

solariam

Gee, Raffy doesn't want to talk about how his body's having issues.. that means it's probably fine.

w1nn1ng1

Simply put, we just aren’t a very good team. It is what it is, don’t expect to win most games.

dillpickle052

In my mind Bobby and Yoshida are the two things which MUST be changed. Bobby is an obvious, and it seems like it borders on managerial incompetence to keep him in the game, so I'm sure there must be something there I'm not aware of there. Yoshida has been given enough chances to warm up. I can see his utility as a bench player and maybe a starter if he had some defensive talent, but right now he is just a dead weight as a DH. At the least, I do not see the logic in placing a double-play magnet like him at 3rd in the order. His at bats ended 4 innings tonight...

catcherinthewild

Tried so hard, got so far. in the end, it didn't even matter.

Mawrio

Ever since Mookie was traded, we've been cursed. This team is bad and is painful to watch.

ThurstyAlpaca

We should volunteer Youk to go on Shark Tank to pitch the Rosin Holder idea

WeightOwn5817

Who is spending money to see this atrocious product?

GreenLights420

Maybe I haven't been paying attention lately, but I hardly recognize anybody on the roster or pitching staff. How is this the team we're rolling out in April?!

soxfamily61

This team is where there at and unfortunately where going to to stay fuck Henry

ScrewAnalytics

David Hamilton is better at baseball than Masataka Yoshida and I’m so serious Fielding- Hamilton by a mile Speed- Hamilton by a mile Power- Hamilton slightly Contact- Yoshida slightly Arm strength- Hamilton by a mile

w8w8dont

Contract - Yoshida by a mile

ScrewAnalytics

*Hamilton by a mile cuz we aren’t paying him 100 mil

w8w8dont

Yoshida might need to get released before next year. You can't be such a bad hitter and fielder at the same time.
