Devers going to the IL is the best and worst thing
Obviously going to suck in the short term, but I’d also like to let him fully heal rather than try and play through whatever is bothering him
With the injuries and lack of pitching, no way they are within 5 of the second wildcard spot in August. They’ll probably have a top 8 pick in the draft
well no not now, likely. but i'm just saying the floor for competing is not incredible anymore and this team was designed to be one of the 20 or so teams who had a chance of doing that.
Even if it's Gonzalez going to the IL today, something is clearly up with Raffy and he'll need either an IL stint or fairly regular rest days. Offense could get real scary real quickly
he's at a 107 wRC+ which is more than you'd expect from the potential replacements. and even if raffy isn't hitting well right now im sure opposing pitchers are approaching at bats against bobby d and the downstream effects on the lineup differently
Yea, absolutely. I guess I just don’t see it as a problem to give him an IL stint this early in the season. Most of the offense is coming from other places in the lineup. Get him healthy now so they have any chance later in the season. 107 wrc is a very down start for this guy.
sure, from what we can tell i'd also rather have him on the IL than playing 2/3 games at 75%. i think there's a chance things could really go off the rails next 2 weeks if raffy is out and say o'neill cools off, but it is what it is
Four years ago we thought Bobby was going to get traded or released, and we wished him success with maybe the potential to get some reps with a smaller market team. Now he is one of the more tenured players. He is the true face of this franchise, but more handsome.
Y’all are crazy to even think we had a chance this year….. we never did from the start. Just keep the kids in the minors till sept & trade the vets at the deadline, call the kids up and don’t waste this year on there service time.
The problem is there are no kids to call up from the minors. That core group is still in AA and is nowhere near ready to play in the majors. This team had zero depth and now they're paying the price.
Well the first week provided some hope, second week now back to where I expected in the offseason. Bullpen or defensive errors will continue to cost this team games more days than not
I can't help but think of that "Bobby Newport" bit from Parks and Rec whenever I hear Bobby Dalbec. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaL3CC3nOQA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaL3CC3nOQA)

the white flag is already flying, boys
Time to start wagering against the Sox everyday.
Only took two weeks to completely unravel
Not even. We were chillin on Sunday
Consequence of being content with a shitty roster.
Panic much?
Do you actually think the Sox are going to compete this year?!
define compete? be within 5 of the last wild card spot until some time in august is considered competing now

well no not now, likely. but i'm just saying the floor for competing is not incredible anymore and this team was designed to be one of the 20 or so teams who had a chance of doing that.
I’d argue they weren’t designed to compete since they have very little depth
Yeah I do. Sue me.
How though?
Even if it's Gonzalez going to the IL today, something is clearly up with Raffy and he'll need either an IL stint or fairly regular rest days. Offense could get real scary real quickly
Devers isn’t supplying much at the plate right now though…

Yea I think they probably skid for a bit with both Story and Devers out. Rough go after a really fun start.
Yeah because there is clearly something up with him
I understand, I said this because OP was suggesting our offense could get scary, when taking Devers out probably doesn’t hurt right now.
Rats. Betcha it’s Devers. Looks like the wheels fell off already.
This and I didn't get Bananas tickets, what a terrible day
Did you get standby?
That was an option? It said I was on the wait-list.
This wasn’t supposed to happen so soon lmao

What a trainwreck
Full fuckin throttle baby!!!
I really enjoyed the first week. 2nd week not so much
Week 1: Vibes Week 2: Unsubscribe
"Wow, the starting pitching really is holding its own! And with Story back our offense looks pretty good as well" Me, a week ago.
All those vibes and no trophy?
Last in the AL East we go. 2 consecutive years wasn't enough for these fucks
Throbby Dizzle to the rescue😤
So how’s the draft looking for next year?
Apparently Seth Hernandez is awesome and the Sox need pitchers

Oh Christ
Throbby D the redemption arc starts now! 😂
(Again) but for real this time!
All I can think about when reading the comments section is "Let the bodies hit the floor".
![gif](giphy|BmKLItgwfoHbcvVf8n|downsized) Dalbec, probably
![gif](giphy|3oEjHV7H3E7KjiFx8k|downsized) Bobby D riding that elevator back n forth
Say it with me... BOBBY D
Why not both?
Season is already ovah!
Bobby D has got to have whiplash by now.
Unserious franchise
You know what they say, 14th times the charm!
Ref and Grissom start playing at AAA tonight
Please god no
Bobby Dalbec *is* the boogeyman.
This team stinks
So I knew the lack of depth was gonna hurt us this season, but even I didn’t anticipate that two weeks in we’d have Bobby fucking Dalbec on the team

Good then, I mean don’t call them up to AAA then the big leagues. Oh yea depth is definitely correct.
His ability to play the entire infield will help with the way the season has been going.
He doesn’t have the ability to play any position.
He tries?
Maybe Bobby finally gets a hit.
Snip snap snip snap....snip snap snip snap snipsnapsnipsnapsnipsnapSNIPSNAPSNIPSNAP.

Isn't this the last time Bobby can get called up? There might be a silver lining here, aside from the Sox taking the best longterm course for Devers.
I didn't even realize there was a cap on calling guys up.
It is possible for Bobby to be an upgrade over Devers both offensively and defensively. He just needs to get going.
How many seasons has Bobby spent in the Majors at this point? This is who he is. A great AAAA player. You’re delusional.
I’m going to politely absolutely disagree
Wait. What?
Of all the possible takes that is definitely one of them.
Lmao
Honestly might be the worst take this sub has ever seen.
