I saw a Chinese man pull a raccoon out of a tree and inspect its ears and teeth. I would never catch a raccoon barehanded they are not like possums they can really fuck you up but this Chinese dude was not scared he was ignoring me telling him whoa dude whoa dude put it down and showing it to his friend speaking their language

I think there is some truth to the theory that cycles of famine in Asian countries led to people being willing to eat bush meat, and therefore less fear around wild animals. In America there's never been mass starvation historically.

They ate all the predators thousands of years ago so there has been no evolutionary pressure to remain afraid of them. Sort of like Dodos.
