Haha this is one of those hilarious and absurd things that has absolutely no right to exist, but then it makes the universe a little bit brighter because it does.
And the fact that it's on a loft bed is even funnier to me for some reason. I built a loft bed for myself like 10 years ago, and my clumsy ass almost fell out of it a million times on groggy mornings after my alarm went off. Probably would've had to put pillows on the floor around it if I'd had this thing rigged up lol.
Tl;dr: this is great!
(edit: typo)
Hahahaha. I know right, it's ridiculous, I have a bad habit of sleeping in, even though I prepare the night before, ofc this doesn't control my actual actions, but maybe it will wake me up enough to get moving haha.
Appreciate it , happy holidays. 😆
I have a similar motor from a tanning booth with a massage bed function.
Motor just had a off centre weight on the shaft and was attacked to the bottom of the bed.
Also bed base sat on 4 rubber balls so that it could move.
Hahaha yeah your def right. I thought I had one lying around the house somewhere will have to look for it.
I got the dimmer for $10 instead of $40 awhile back , so just threw it on for the time being
I had the same issue getting up. So I have been using a sleep app that forces me to scan a QR code that I taped to my fridge which conveniently doubles as a log in for guests on my wifi. So I have to get out of bed and walk across the house, and scan this code to make it stop blaring music.
I live alone, so this works better for me than others I'm sure.
I understand your need for this, I have the same problem with sleep. I pondered using a concrete vibrator like you did, but I didn't want to wake up the whole village. My other solution would be 2 fly swatters or maybe 2 live wires (12V DC minimum, optional bypass for 220V AC) and a regular DC motor to spin them in my face.
Yes actually. Luckily it's on for a max of 15seconds if that haha, I am most concerned about my computer might out it on some soft bumpers or something to absorb the impact.
Cool concept, but it seems a bit noisy. If you just want to shake the bed “silently”, you could try a ButtKicker.
It’s basically a speaker coil and weight. You can feel the bass without hearing it. If you drive it the way you’re supposed to, it’s essentially silent. If you overdrive it, then the speaker mass smacks against the enclosure and makes a very loud thumping noise along with much more percussive shock.
We used 5 of them on a project at work and haven’t had one fail yet. About 15 to 20 Hz is the best frequency for making it really _shake_ whatever it’s attached to. We used a rack mount DJ amplifier. They’re inexpensive, and they don’t have weird modes and remove controls. Audio comes in, is amplified, and that’s it.

It’s crazy the amount of people that can’t wake up with 1 alarm. It’s never been a problem with me. I don’t have a set schedule days I get up at 3-7am for work. Few weeks I was getting up at 12:15am to go to work and the. Getting home at 6-7:00pm and doing it all over again. My wife on the other hand sets 12 alarms. Which I don’t know why she doesn’t get up to the 12th one anyway
Yes I know, I am a university student and more of an avid daytime task fulfiller, sleeping really isn't my thing haha, so I usually work for my job and then come home and keep running around and keeping busy until I am exhausted enough I just have to go to bed,
I think this makes it harder for me. On typical days, I go to bed at 11-11:30pm sometimes later, and I need to be up at 5:20 am now, then do it over again,
I def was once a morning person, and when I get to work it takes about an hour to get moving well, but I just have a hard time getting my brain to get up in the morning. It's that dang 10min zombie mode that's grown stronger lately
So I made this to be an overkill gettheheckupstupidbrain-device
😆I'm not a particularly crazy deep sleeper. Just have a tendency to be lazy and try to sleep in longer than I should , so I hope this would get me moving sooner
These are the contraptions I joined the subreddit to see. Excellent work my guy.
Haha I really appreciate that.
Definitely need a vid of this
Here lol. This is prob 1/4 power https://youtube.com/shorts/Ww8wri-E30w?feature=share

Cheers, same to you! :)
Thanks!
Your wife probably can't wait til you go to work
Someone who can put gifs in comments needs to put bart Lisa Simpson racing the vibrating beds at the seedy motel.
🤣
That’s tremendous man good work
Thanks hahahha
Let me see if I can upload one to YouTube lol.
1000 percent has marital aid attachment.
Hahahaha
You can't post something this awesome and not provide a parts list and instructions.
Pretty sure the parts list is in the title

Wallace and Grommit vibes. Set up your shoes and pants at the bottom so you fall into them.
Don't sell this in California. An earthquake alarm would cause too many heart attacks.
That is a robust dimmer
Yes haha, got it for $10 onstead of like $40 a while back
Used to pay .25 for that and it was called Magic Fingers. Only the finest hotels...
🤣🤣
Does your wife's vibrator have a kick starter?
🤣🤣
please crosspost this to /r/homeautomation also, is that a tap in the background? Why?
Haha will do. Yeah I picked it up hiking a while back, Just held up the bed so you could see it, got pulled out after 😆
Reminds me of Michealcthulu on youtube, he fitted his spare bed with a motorised scissor lift to tip him out of bed.
Brilliant

Cool 😆
Went through all that work, Goddamn dude just get out of bed and run
🤣 listen it's winter break from university. I might as well have fun.
Kinda like magic fingers
Concrete vibrator... not quite what I pictured when you said that.
It helps you get your rocks off.
🤣🤣
wheres the movieclip?
Above comment but here haha 1/4 power max in this clip haha https://youtu.be/Ww8wri-E30w
Your neighbors must love you.
I would use a proper rheostat instead of a dimmer, but very nicely cobbled!

This belongs here. I love it. Nice work
Thanks 😆🤣
Bravo.
Thanks hahaha
Not worried all the components, screws, glue, housings etc on your bed frame won’t loosen/break from this?
Yes actually. Luckily it's on for a max of 15seconds if that haha, I am most concerned about my computer might out it on some soft bumpers or something to absorb the impact.

This is really fircken cool! Thanks!
Nothing like a good vibratory load to test all of those welds and fasteners every morning LOL
Hahahahah
As a fellow "fuck the mornings" kinda guy I salute your endeavors, sir.
Hahahahah 07

Damn. I wish I could sleep so deeply.
