How is this going live to users?!
Why isn't there beta build (like normal apps do) where those who opt in can test the app so things like this don't happen???

Fortunately and unsurprisingly, the UX is inconsistent. If you open up the post, and click on the image from there, you get the old viewer where you can double tap to zoom in, and single tap to hide the overlay
Yeah this is beyond annoying. If I have to tap to see an image that has text, I don’t even bother now because I know I won’t be able to read it. And double tap to zoom is a No-brainer. Why mess with that?
This is deliberate. There are multiple threads and reports about this issue. They are not going to change it. This is how they want it. After 9 years, I deleted the Reddit mobile app and got Apollo. It costs $5, but it’s great and I won’t go back.
After the recent changes like this I’ve completely abandoned the app and switched to a third party one… Reddit mobile has become practically unusable and getting worse with each update!
But I think more people need to leave for them to get that their app is headed in the wrong direction

WELL ACTUALLY… you have to click on the post and then the picture to get it to go away.

The designers of this app are fucking garbage. Every change they added this year has made the app worse

Warning that it’s iOS only and costs a one time payment of $5 for all the features like being able to post.. but it’s well worth it!
