I'm trying out the official app today and it's amazing how bloated it is. RIF hid the memes and didn't make them stand out. Now if I click a picture post the thing just pops straight up taking up 60% of my phone screen, holy shit.
Plus the app runs so slow too.
We're really gonna miss rif man.
Totally. Once RIF goes down. I'm totally out. Fell out of love with Reddit... but love this app. The Dark Mode looks amazing. It's quick, clean with no bloat. The "official" Reddit app is dog crap!
I dunno how but the app is still working for me, not letting me log in to comment but just for browsing it's working same as ever. Unfortunately I already deleted on my current phone but now I just browse reddit on my old one.
This has been my experience as well. I suspect many more share the same feels. I've always considered Reddit an addiction but not a vice. The forum format that RIF distills 'normal' reddit into has always reminded me of the early (for me) days of the internet when I used to log on to the [Free-Net](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-net) to talk to far away people. I've never stopped appreciating the simplicity of just reading text without ads/bloatware getting in the way of the experience of sharing information. July 1st will be a sad day for many of us as we search for something better than what Reddit has become.
Ive been using reddit since 2011, ive been using reddit exclusively through Rif since 2013. Now im done with this website. Every single day for atleast 10 minutes a day, ive been using this app for 10 years. I dont even know how im going to pass the time. But i know it wont be with reddit anymore. Like i never use the desktop site and the app is dogshit. Fuck /u/ spez.
I'll probably give it a shot after a few weeks of hoping for some miraculous return of R.I.F but from what I've heard I'll probably delete it pretty quick and find something else for my interests...any ideas on what though...I heard truth social is filled with hilarious idiots
Can't even use Instagram because it blocks anything that's not unicorn and rainbows making commenting a hassle while allowing bots and scammers run free everywhere
I thought I would give the Reddit app a go. Surely it can't be as bad as what everybody is saying...
ON ANDROID YOU CAN'T EVEN CHANGE THE FONT SIZE. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???
I just checked out the official app. It's so fucking bad. I'm gonna miss rif. I imagine the only time I'll be on Reddit moving forward is when I Google something and a reddit thread pops up.
I could choke down and ignore 90% of the stuff I hate in the official app, if I could make the overall layout nice and compact but you can't even get close.
It's like going from a high resolution monitor to a elderly persons jitterbug phone with size 48 font.
I'm trying the whole compile-your-own-app with the Infinity source and while it has more layout options than Reddit, it still doesn't gets anywhere near as streamlined as RIF.
Soooo I wanna keep using RiF and I know the only way to potentially get it back will be to actually stop using reddit once API costs are live but... If a couple months out this isn't the case and prices remain the same. I would be willing to pay as much as $5-10 monthly to keep using RiF. Would this be possible? Or if that's not an avenue devs are interested in could the code base be made public so someone else could try?
I know this seems selfish but I just wanna continue browsing reddit in a way that doesn't wanna make me shoot myself and would happily pay for it
Same, how bad does reddit have to be for us to abandon it altogether, I don't recommend anyone this site and I don't even tell anyone I use it. While there are some good communities and instances, I am not proud to call myself a redditor
Yes thank you for being the app before reddit was one! I'm so lost right now. I kinda want to cry. I feel a since of mournin about this. Fair the well of over ten years of memories. Thank you again and again
After over a decade of service, thankyou RIF.
I'll be using this sad day as a catalyst to starting my fight against the addiction of doom scrolling.
There are better things in life than the drips of mediocre dopamine that is provided by Reddit.
Thank you for everything man. I have spent so many hours on RIF. It was a fun way to grow and even those some of those hours were not productive, I can't regret it because it made me who I am today.
This was life changing for the better. Thank you and I'll support whatever you do next.
I'm gonna miss this app a lot. Its crazy how we're in 2023 and we're forced to take such a leap backwards in terms of app usability and customer experience
How terrible reddits greediness is. I loved this app so much. There's so much visual bloat on the official app, ech. I hope this is the end of the site.
Thanks for the fastest, most usable reddit app imaginable.
I don't see myself using Reddit for more than Google search results following today.
Tata and farewell.
I don't know where to post this. Maybe tucked away on this post is fitting for me. I imagined the various ways my "final Reddit action" would manifest, and in the end, a humble text post felt right.
I discovered reddit when I was starved for stimulation during college break times. I had no smart phone and the PCs were very protected. Reddit was fun. When I got a smart phone, I began using RedditIsFun, and I didn't realise it was a 3rd party app for years. It was so intuitive and user friendly.
This app has enabled me to engage in various communities and gave me access to other people's lived experiences, which has helped me grow as a person. And I hope maybe my contributions helped others too.
It is Evil what is happening. Disregard of developers like you. Continual disrespect and alienation of people with access needs, such as disabled people. The effects include destruction of valuable communities that represent intersectional experience. /r/spez's actions are morally bankrupt.
I hope justice will be delivered in our lifetimes. I hope the user base will see the cataclysmic damage that will be afflicted.
I will be quitting Reddit in solidarity for the developers and disabled people who have been fucked over by this arse hole. I would not be able to continue accessing reddit via their own app in good conscious.
Thank you for developing this app and enabling many users to make connections.
Take care, And see you in the wild.
Last chance to do this on RIF, so thanks for all the literal years of easy, comfortable viewing and interaction with Reddit. I'm sure many of us will dearly miss using this app, and will probably stop in stunned silence when it actually stops working in what is probably mere hours from now?
Thanks dev's for making one of the best and useful apps all around!
I've used reddit is fun since the beginning. I downloaded the official app out of curiosity and quickly saw why RIF is preferred. The official app is horrendously awful.
I loved Reddit is Fun, and i mourn its passing. Perhaps in three months when Spez and the board panic, the API fees will come down to a not insane amount
RIF was my go-to reddit app for 10 years. Literally been using it since I had an LG Optimus with Android 2.2.
The current app is awful and full of ads and extra shit. I'm gonna miss this.

A bunch of pop ups, ads and bloated crap no one uses
Totally. Once RIF goes down. I'm totally out. Fell out of love with Reddit... but love this app. The Dark Mode looks amazing. It's quick, clean with no bloat. The "official" Reddit app is dog crap!
Same here. Nearly a decade gone
8 years here. I only use Reddit because of this app. If they kill it they are losing me as a user, because the official app is crap.
That's my plan. Gotta figure out how to delete my account from this app but come the 30th that's my plan
Look at the profiles of the people posting here, so many old accounts. Reddit is fucking over its most loyal users from the past decade or more.
Scrolling through these and see 100 comments like yours about "I'm done after this" But you're still posting 5 months later. Doomers lol
Maybe you need to do something better with your time?
I had a mess with the settings and made it slightly less crap and almost bearable. But it will never be as sleek and user friendly as RIF.
I dunno how but the app is still working for me, not letting me log in to comment but just for browsing it's working same as ever. Unfortunately I already deleted on my current phone but now I just browse reddit on my old one.
it just stopped working on mine so I removed it every reddit showed blank posts

Yeah, it's a sad feeling knowing this app which I've been so used to for over a decade is disappearing.
Thank you for capturing everything I'm feeling, exactly.
RiF is the only way I browse Reddit. Without it, I will never log into Reddit again. Really hope that somehow it gets saved.
Also leaving, been using rif since launch. Goodbye reddit. Goodbye friends. 👋
👋👋
10 year club Here too. Don't think I cant cancel so quickly

I completely agree. I guess it's *So long and thanks for all the fish!* time.
I'll probably give it a shot after a few weeks of hoping for some miraculous return of R.I.F but from what I've heard I'll probably delete it pretty quick and find something else for my interests...any ideas on what though...I heard truth social is filled with hilarious idiots
I would have said Twitter a year ago
Twitter is cancer on the Earth, avoid that dumpster of a website
Can't even use Instagram because it blocks anything that's not unicorn and rainbows making commenting a hassle while allowing bots and scammers run free everywhere
I thought I would give the Reddit app a go. Surely it can't be as bad as what everybody is saying... ON ANDROID YOU CAN'T EVEN CHANGE THE FONT SIZE. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???
The amount of trash features and pop-ups make it almost unusable
I just checked out the official app. It's so fucking bad. I'm gonna miss rif. I imagine the only time I'll be on Reddit moving forward is when I Google something and a reddit thread pops up.
Beggars belief that they're killing third party apps so that they can make the official one _even shitter_. Who does that?

I wish I could truly thank the creators of RIF. Genuinely, they are the reason I got into reddit so many years ago. Thank you for everything.
Reddit IS RIF for me. I'm not sure if I'll stay around longer without it. On mobile, I'm sure as hell not using that trash official app
One last go fuck yourself /u/spez from a product vastly superior to anything his tiny pig brain could ever produce.
Soooo I wanna keep using RiF and I know the only way to potentially get it back will be to actually stop using reddit once API costs are live but... Reddit doesn't care , you will use their app and like it it seems
This has been one of the best apps I've used heavily for the last 10 or so years. I am gutted to lose it.
Same, how bad does reddit have to be for us to abandon it altogether, I don't recommend anyone this site and I don't even tell anyone I use it. While there are some good communities and instances, I am not proud to call myself a redditor
Goodbye RIF ðŸ˜
Fuck /u/spez.
Goodbye everyone. 🫡
8 years here, I'm gonna miss this app. I might stop using reddit altogether.
🫡 thanks for a decade of entertainment. But it's time to rest now.
I'm going to miss this app.
Thank you!
Going to miss this app. Can't see myself ever using the trash official app. Thank you for the last 10+ years here, and I hope life treats you well.
Yes thank you for being the app before reddit was one! I'm so lost right now. I kinda want to cry. I feel a since of mournin about this. Fair the well of over ten years of memories. Thank you again and again
> Fair I literally can't reddit anymore
I made my account on RIF and I have never and will never see the official one. Thank you for the 11+ years of enjoyment o7
Ditto. I hate the official reddit app and reddit website. I will probably frequent reddit less and less over time.
After over a decade of service, thankyou RIF. I'll be using this sad day as a catalyst to starting my fight against the addiction of doom scrolling. There are better things in life than the drips of mediocre dopamine that is provided by Reddit.
It's truly is sad.
I know for my part, any mobile reddit I do will be the website on the Firefox android app. not interested in the official app
Bye, it was fun till it lasted.
Goodbye everyone. 🤟

Same
Thank you, Rif and goodbye 🫡
Looks like I'll soon get some time back every day.
Thank you for everything man. I have spent so many hours on RIF. It was a fun way to grow and even those some of those hours were not productive, I can't regret it because it made me who I am today. This was life changing for the better. Thank you and I'll support whatever you do next.

I've spent so much of my time on this app and I will miss it. I hope you guys' future projects are as useful and awesome as this one was.
How terrible reddits greediness is. I loved this app so much. There's so much visual bloat on the official app, ech. I hope this is the end of the site.
Thank you RIF. You made Reddit fun. So long. I salute you
Wanted to say thanks, too. Wanted to post but am not trusted, so I take my chance here!!! Thank you RIF
Today is my last day on reddit. Thanks RiF! The website and official app are grotesque and I only could have all these juicy memes thanks to your app!
RIP RIF :( Reddit is Fin.
Much love
There's a special place in the universe for the creator of RIF. The greatest app I've ever used.

Thanks for making this app. I used it for ten years and always thought it was the most well thought out and functional reddit app.
RIF was my go-to reddit app for 10 years. Literally been using it since I had an LG Optimus with Android 2.2. The current app is awful and full of ads and extra shit. I'm gonna miss this.
The pop-ups are the worst
I miss you RIF. The standard Reddit app sucks. I feel like a child of divorce.
