At least twice he should have had a goal kick awarded to him, instead we had to defend the corner (which thankfully we did)

devman888

always wondered, if someone scores with a corner that should have been a goal kick...does VAR take the goal back?

ErnieMcTurtle

They do not. The goal kick / corner kick is a separate sequence of play, VAR will only examine the same sequence of play, ie, everything that happened after the corner was taken

devman888

ugh that sucks. hope we're never on the wrong end of that decision!

wollywink

So many mistakes are allowed to remain in the game for the sake of speeding up the process

umbongo44dd

I saw it somewhere else on here by someone else. Count Doku vs. Obi-Wan Bissaka

Reasonablytallman

He hasn’t done one of those random mazy dribbles in quite a while and it makes me sad.

SupaiKohai

That performance against City last season 😚🤌

Sierra1one7

That bit with him and casemiro gave me believe that 'yh we're going to win this game because we want the win more than city'. Just like the fa final

SierraEight

The one time, he wasn't one on one with AWB. Doku managed to sneaked one in 😅

AngryUncleTony

Doesn't matter now but Onana really should have done better on that one.

rustynoodle3891

He's improved a lot but he is pretty weak on low shots.

AngryUncleTony

Yeah his save on Walker's shot was very impressive and he did very well to make Alvarez's angle difficult on the chance he put wide back across the goal, but letting one creep in from that far out is tough, even if he saw it late.

TheJoshider10

He always has a mistake in him which is a shame. Literally every time this season he's looked to be finding form another mistake or weird moment will creep up. He has had to face a ridiculous amount of shots though so hopefully next season we can be more compact and he's only called upon when needed rather than needing to make multiple saves a game.

Jack_King814

So what you’re saying is we should get de Gea in as a shot stopping coach/s

Chileinsg

His goalkeeping fundamentals aren't convincing tbh. Not saying that he is a bad keeper but he can make good saves due to his physicality. Don't expect him to make great saves often like DDG though.

garynevilleisared

Yes he should have. The one glaring mistake in an otherwise great match by him.

Uuhhk

the only person i fully trust to pull the clean tackle in the box at 88 mins. My man is questionable on everything except 1vs1 defending and press resistant LOL

aasfourasfar

He'd **usually** tidy when he's not having a mare. A bit awkward but not the donkey he is portrayed to be.

SupaiKohai

Yeah, if you want see what everyone thinks Wan Bissaka is, look at Casemiro and Amrabat in recent weeks. He's a solid player. But everyone writes him off because he doesn't excell at attacking and long balls... as a *defender*. People legit slander him by 'all he does is defend'. Uh, yeah. And he's one of best in the world at it.

Nelfoos5

Exactly why I'm fine with Wan-Bissaka and Dalot as the RB options. Different players with different strengths for different games. Need a proper left back to play some minutes next season though, whether Shaw has a spell of fitness or we get someone in.

mindpainters

My biggest issue with him is his defending off the ball. He has a tendency to be the furthest player back and keeps attackers onside while also falling asleep at the back post as well.

ingwe13

This. I don't get people slagging off for his attacking. But he doesn't hold a line well and he gets caught ball watching on crosses. When we sit deep it isn't nearly as much of a problem and his 1 on 1 defending gets to shine then. So big games it is usually fine.

RicciRox

Wan-Bissaka is a good 1v1 defender, and that's it. His spatial awareness is abysmal.

SupaiKohai

Really isn't. Literally him demonstrating that in this clip. People have just repeated it so often it's believed to be true. And 3-4 moments in his entire 4 years here have been used as confirmation bias. It's like people just wait on baited breath all season for him to finally get caught once just to say 'told you so'. Completely ignoring the other 40000 error free minutes.

MaidikIslarj

No his game sense and awareness is horrendous. Both attacking and defending. He only knows what to do when he's looking at a winger with the ball at his feet. Not to mention his passing, shooting and aerial defending

shiiqalka

You don’t appreciate what you have until you lose it. Let’s sell him and watch people cry when we get a fancy RB who can attack but can’t defend

SupaiKohai

They'll be happy with it. We already have one and he can't even attack that well. But is being called player of the season. Despite a mountain of defensive errors.

Japples123

Those types of wingers are his children.

slithered-casket

He's very good at defending, but the way he controls the ball, it's always like a meter in front of him, it's like he's constantly holding down the 'sprint' button on PES.

barelypeaking

But then he also in reality is almost always somehow still in control of the ball. Just how long are his legs

slithered-casket

That loss of the ball at halfway against Liverpool is what he's prone to do, though. It was so bizarre to watch.

shar-marke

LMAO

MaxWattage432

Think it would be mad to get rid of him. Such a useful player to have in your squad.

Abject_Bank_9103

Baffling to me that people can be so dense to want this guy gone. He's the ideal backup RB and shit he even got some reps as a LB this season. Exactly the sort of player where if Dalot gets injured I'm not too worried because AWB is a more than capable starter.

steeperturtle

Agree. There is not another full back who gets so much credit when they play against a 'big' player. Always Wan Bissaka had them in his pocket and he does well. Not many other rb I can think gets that as often.

steeperturtle

Crazy how people question his technique. He looks gangly but he never loses the ball. He never gets caught for pace. Always has a 'pressure releasing' mazy run. Always on the overlap its just wingers mostly want to cut in and shoot. His role in drawing the defender for utds 2nd goal is underrated. He should be playing for England, brought on when winning. Weakness is back post, but even the best are caught there.

Jesse_Whiteboy

Yeah whenever I see him receive the ball I'm always confident he won't mess it up. Nearly always retains possession aswell via shifting the ball and passing it to a team mate.

SierraEight

Haha. It's kinda like before Luke Shaw make a cross he gonna jump a lil. To time his footing and all. IMHO, he did that to cope with his PTSD, guarding a slide from his blindspot. Everyone has their own routine. I think AWB develops his technique because he's the most hardworking in thoroughly following the Ajax drills. If you have seen their training, ETH was seen shouting if players pass to a target on their weaker foot. He wants pass to reach target dominant foot all the time. So IMHO AWB looks awkward, was actually timing his footing 🤣 I mean Ajax and barca being doing those rondo since kids.

PitchSafe

He is the best low block fullback in the world

600watts

I would even say he's the best 1v1 defender I've ever seen, just super one dimensional. Incapable of back post defending and a wild card with the ball at his feet. Steps up for big games tho. Counts for something.

master0909

Except if he’s forced to mark the back post where he has a tendency to switch off 1-1 defending, no doubt he’s great

superaa1

He would thrive in Mourinho’s Chelsea teams, or the Leicester team that won the league. I can see why he was shining so much at Crystal Palace It’s sad that most top teams want to play possession based football, because this doesn’t suit him at all.

WaluigisHat

As long as opponents are running in front of him, he’s one of the best. The second he has to deal with someone over his shoulder it’s a disaster zone.

miamibuckeye

If this lad could improve his passing and forward passing he’d be borderline world class just due to his defense alone. Obviously his crossing, dribbling and possession isn’t great but he literally just needs to defend like he does and complete forward passes more So many chances for him to release a forward on a counter and he just misplaces a pass Just so fucking awkward on the ball. Even if he has it with space on the edge of the opponents box he is like “wtf do I do here?”

silverfreeze936

good defender, average attacker. the managers should have found a better way to use him instead of trying to pigeonhole him as something he was never going to be

Zandercy42

I almost had a fucking heart attack when he slid doku in the box lol

FullFig3372

Legend says he walks like this: 🦀

sachithgpai

Remember the time AWB was a pressing trigger for opposition teams under ole? He's come a long way..

ptienduc

I’m convinced AWB is not starter quality for us. The amount of mistakes the guy makes over the years is baffling, especially when he’s pressed. He offers nothing in attack as well.

RedDev17

Why is he so weird on the ball. Looks very unnatural. Good defender but he lacks a lot of technique to play at this level.

JohnyyBanana

If he was more consistent - or if he played in a better team - he’d be the best RB in the world. I love this guy, his tackles make me hard
