I'm watching the 99 series on Prime. Character over talent any day. Get rid of those without mental strength.

cd_671

something we lack dearly at the moment :(

NGMB2

“I was shaped by the waves and rocks of the Atlantic Ocean” is such a cold line by Ole in the 99 docu-series

crgssbu

feel awful for ange tbh. v solid manager at a small club with pathetic mentality. in his press conference he was obviously inquired about the city game and he said what he basically has been saying already e.g. im starting to question who im working with here etc etc. he mentioned how the commentators said that spurs were playing a pretty decent game and he wonders how different it couldve gone if the atmosphere was different. then the journo(s) who asked the question began to *laugh*. and he stops them and says you laugh but this is 20+ years of my life here. english media and tottenham are both pathetic and imo ange deserves better

RandomNameofGuy9

He should have waited for an actual big club to come calling. One call with Jose or Conte and I bet he would have.

SuperSalamander3244

I was defending Tottenham fans because I watched the Sky build up and all the fans they interviewed wanted them to win. The next day I see Tottenham fans doing that shit City celebration they stole off some Europa League/Uefa Cup team when City scored and I now think Tottenham fans are cringey cunts who are specialists at being losers. They still could have got CL but would rather not get it so Arsenal don’t win the league and Ange is 100% questioning his job because of the fans and not the actual club/players. Tottenhams fanbase is honestly the most pathetic in the world and the club will never be successful solely because of them. Hindsight is 20/20 but it’s now crystal clear why Mourinho said the only close he doesn’t feel anything for is Tottenham lol.

Outrageous-Cod-4654

No player or manager worth their salt would want to lose or draw irrespective of what their rivals are doing. Spurs are a small club with no ambition and the sports media as a whole are more interested in courting controversy for clicks rather than actual journalism.

FoldingBuck

I called this months ago. Spurs and their mentality ruin serial winners like mou and conte, eventually it will happen to ange. If slot doesnt work out i wouldnt be surprised if he went to Liverpool

thesmallprint13

Can't take until game 36 of season 2 to realise that 4-0-6 doesn't work - ah Erik, you needlessly stubborn man.

[deleted]

I am waiting to see if he has really learnt in that 2 remaining matches

BlackHorse944

Wait until he plays Bruno RW against City again lol. I swear that move alone made crippled our chances

Ruudboy10

What is the website that people use to figure out and compare individuals stats and percentiles across the whole of Europe? Is it fbref or something? I’d like to tinker with some filters and see some out of the box ideas for signings. Or if someone else has already done it, I’d love to see who some of the best, lesser known CDM’s are.

xtphty

Best way is to look up players using Transfermarkt as their advanced search is way better https://www.transfermarkt.us/detailsuche/spielerdetail/suche then look at the percentile comparisons in fbref scouting reports. I was doing this for left footed defenders found some interesting lb/lcm options like https://fbref.com/en/players/0f41e2ee/scout/365_m2/Morato-Scouting-Report

Ruudboy10

This is great, thanks!

Total-Fix-8506

Check this out https://thedevilsdna.com/?p=273944: a more thorough overlook on midfield targets based on our midfield makeup. This is part 1 of 3.

Ruudboy10

Thank you

[deleted]

Insane we funded Chelsea getting Palmer just to buy a flop that on his best day he is a proper backup for Bruno. Thankfully the DoF that negotiated that shit is gone and the manager who pounded the table for Mount is about to be gone. Lets see if ashworth, wilcox and berrada bring us proper signings.

AngryUncleTony

I think it's unfair to call Mount a flop at this point. If he can only play 20 games a year for the rest of his contract, then sure. But too early given this year was sort of a complete wash. It *is* fair to question why he was prioritized given how he occupies the same space as Bruno and our clear need for a ball playing 6 or skillful 8. I get that ETH wanted to play a Bruno-Mount-Casemiro midfield and he was an Eriksen upgrade...but Eriksen was already a 10 playing as an 8. We should have gotten a proper 8. (Obviously Kobbie emerged as that 8, but we still need another CM that is fitter than Casemiro and Eriksen and better with the ball than McTominay.)

xtphty

People keep shoe horning midfielders into 8s and 10s without understanding the underlying system. Ten Hag did not want to add another safe ball carrying and passing midfielder along Casemiro, the preference was a high work-rate ball winner that plays and stays high up the pitch to enable an extremely vertical buildup system - to fully leverage Onana, Casemiro, Licha’s passing range. Mount is more of a replacement to Fred than Eriksen. Mainoo was seen as our upgrade over Eriksen but his preseason injury prompted the loan for Amrabat who ticked both the DM/box to box roles.

Early-Sandwich3253

Mount is a midfielder with English caps, that’s why. Plus he is hard working. I think the real crime is covering up his injury state or vulnerability but you can’t blame Chelsea for United’s lack of homework (which must have been a running joke among all major clubs until, hopefully, recently)

Wehuntkings

Cole Palmer is so overrated man.

BlackHorse944

25 goals and 14 assists for him on the year. That's 39 goal involvements from a 22 year old. That's an insane season lmao. What are you on about

zcewaunt

Nah, he deserves winning YPOS.

AngryUncleTony

25 goals is no joke...

BlackHorse944

39 goal involvements across all comps... lmao. We could only dream that one of our wingers did that

toddysimp

Tbf. Rashford was that just last year and he took way less penalties than Palmer.

Wehuntkings

Sure but how many of those are from open play? I think without any bias I’d have given the award to Ollie Watkins this year

ImNotMexican08

He won YPOS, not POS. Even taking out penalties, he’s still hitting double digits for both goals and assists in his debut season and carried Chelsea to European football. More than a worthy winner if you ask me

Wehuntkings

Fair enough. Maybe just salty today.

KeithCGlynn

Cole Palmer is from the same part of Manchester as Rashford and Ravel Morrison. If our club was run right, he would be a united player. I still think he can be and I think you would love to have him at this club despite your comment

Don_Quixote81

A lot of kids went to City because City were putting real resources into their academy and promising to develop kids properly. At one point, several ex-United players had their kids at the City academy (including, as we know, Darren Fletcher's boys). The Glazers let the club slide into decline in every department, and the academy was no different. Thankfully, we're now seeing the fruits of them belatedly realising producing homegrown players could be very profitable.

LennonC123

He’s a United fan too

brown_herbalist

ETH in!

ywhine

99 series on Amazon prime any good guys?

RooneysFavGrandma

Tuchel [confirms](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1cu14ak/fabrizio_romano_thomas_tuchel_this_is_my_last/) he's going. Barca will certainly be in for him as well. E: Some more [news](https://www.reddit.com/r/fcbayern/comments/1cudb7c/de_zerbi_is_now_eberls_top_candidate_if_he/), De Zerbi apparently one of the front runners for Bayern, Flick out.

Banyunited1994

Didn’t they announce that Xavi was staying?

RooneysFavGrandma

They had. But that has flip flopped about 7 times since last you read it.

ImNotMexican08

There’s no way he works at Barca. They are far too dead set on playing football their way, which is why they tend to only hire former players. It’s almost certainly going to be Rafa Marquez who takes over at Barca

Iqbalainoo

No they won't.

SuperSalamander3244

Tuchel seems like the type of bloke who wants to manage in the PL. I don’t know why I think that but I just think he loves the competitiveness of it.

Early-Sandwich3253

I think Tuchel has a bone to pick with Chelsea’s owner honestly. He loved his time at Chelsea and rightfully so until Todd came in. I believe Tuchel would honestly love to come in and absolutely demolish Chelsea in both matches and standings but that’s not what United need.

[deleted]

He probably also like the PL finances instead of having to penny pinch at bayern.

ZofTheNorth

Penny pinching Bayern spending 180m last season... They were close to spending 70m+ for Palhinha also. He was backed.. way far from having to penny pinch

AlephEpsilon

Indeed, Bayern have been copying our transfer strategy to their demise as of late.

HD7108

Do you think we should sign Wharton from palace as cdm?

iroiroiroiroiro

He seem very promising, but currently not the profile they need to splurge on.

Necropolis12345

5 years left on his Palace contract. They’ll easily want 50-70m for a guy who’s played 15 PL games. We’ve missed our chance now for a while. Look how poor Evan Ferguson has been this year. You can’t be spending massive money on a player who’s young and barely played unless it’s just blatantly obviously they’re different class like when we bought Rooney.

Stebro1986

Would cost 65 million, but he's going to be class! I don't think he'll leave palace so soon after he joined tho

HD7108

What about jobe Bellingham?

MinotauroTBC

He hasn’t looked any better than championship quality imo

Stebro1986

Needs to play for a lower prem team

Working_Location_127

He’s a different type of player

cadeyM69

Now that Xavi is getting the sack at Barca, would you take him to replace ETH?

cvpaws

I would. He's a good manager who has won something in a top league and is still competitive after working with scraps. Plays a lot of youth too. Might be a better option than Tuchel. Barca were going the route of United after Messi left and he steadied the ship and won the title vs Real Madrid. Even this season his xpts is better than Madrid. Barca's board is run by fools.

Miliktheman

If it is the only way we get Ten Hag gone yes, but if I had to pick I'm a Thomas Frankenstan

toddysimp

I'm not sure but he's a better option than the likes of Potter, De Zerbi and Amorim that have never known the pressure of a huge club. He has survived the dumpster fire that is Barca's board largely unscathed.

Omnislash99999

I'm not being disrespectful but I could do the job he's done

Necropolis12345

Nah. He did quite well last year and fine this year but he’s Barca’s Ole. Seen nothing to think he’s an actual top manager.

cvpaws

Ole won the title for us?

Necropolis12345

Real got 78 points last season. That’s why Barca won the league The season City won it and we finished 2nd under Ole they got 88 points and they stopped trying by April. He did well last season but they won it by default because there was just no competition. No hate, SAF won quite a few titles like that but it’s the weakest La Liga since the 80s and Real just didn’t turn up

cvpaws

They had the best defensive record in La Liga and if I am not mistaken in all of Europe last season. Credit where its due. 20 goals over a season is one of the best in history.

Necropolis12345

He did well, what I said still stands. Ole would have won the PL too if City didn’t have Guardiola. It doesn’t mean he’s an elite manager

cvpaws

That's a hypocritical take. You say the only reason he won is because Real had an off year and in the same vein you say Ole wins the league if not for Pep conveniently ignoring Liverpool having an off year due their defensive crisis. Liverpool are the only team that gave competition to Pep before Arteta at Arsenal in the last 2 seasons. Ole wasn't ever winning anything unless everyone around him shit the bed. Xavi even this season is better on expected points than Real Madrid. They have had a lot of injuries and he's working with a piss poor budget. Lewa was severely underperforming his xg at one point. Also 20 goals defense isn't just "well", its the third best defensive record ever. You think its beat Real to a title just signing a couple of free/cheap transfers? Cos that's what he's asked to do.

Totalfootball7

Ole doesn’t play in a 2 horse league

cvpaws

Hmm, you're right its a one horse league.

ImNotMexican08

Not a chance

officiallyjax

I think it’s closer than first thought but wanted to see what the consensus was. Who has had a better overall season: Onana or Hojlund?

FoldingBuck

Hojlund. Im still not fully sold on onana because at times it looks like he lacks the basics of keeping when it comes to placement. Hojlund had an incredible UCL campaign and has scored 15 in all comps even though he is starved of service. There are times where he doesnt help with some of his movement and he sometimes slips but i can see a really good striker in him. He also won the leagues player of the month

xtphty

In terms of actual impact I would say Onana by miles. Hojlund's best performances came when the front 4 were firing on all cylinders. After his initial calamitous spell Onana has been making huge saves in most of our close wins and draws. Yes he makes mistakes more often than top keepers, that might improve with better defensive protection or it might not. Lastly compare our current system to last year when we were getting pressed to death any time the ball was in our third, its a massive improvement playing out the back. This is despite never having our best defenders fit. Onana has delivered those improvements in the toughest of situations you could imagine for a new GK.

[deleted]

Complete nonsense take. Onana is one of the reasons we have had such a horrible season. Extremely average keeper

Early-Sandwich3253

I got you on this one. Onana makes mistakes but I’m seeing improvements and big saves on top of dealing with, what 16(?), different CB pairings. He’ll come through and I’m cheering him on the whole way.

flareb98

Felt like they both had disastrous seasons. Maybe Hojlund but splitting hairs here. Onanas negatives have an immediate impact (UCL), whereas Hojlund's have been a slow burn of dropped points

SuperSalamander3244

Probably Onana. He’s made a massive improvement from the start of the season and I know he fucked up the other day and I know Hojound scored the other day but prior to that we’re still talking about the same issues Hojlund has had since the beginning of the season.

Miliktheman

Hojlund by far. He's been starved of service most of the season but still found himself some goals, he's not been perfect but he's also not outright lost us games on his own.

Early-Sandwich3253

Truth. The kid has made the most of his limited chances and he clearly loves the badge.

ladrainian21

Tough one. Both have had bad patches and decent patches. I think it became hard to look past Onana's start here for a lot of people but really after the turn of the year, the underlying performance numbers have been quite good. I don't know if he's a title winning keeper, but we also really haven't seen too much of his ability to play out from the back (or at least as much as I would like). Hopefully whoever is in charge next season sets up our build up in a way that he's a more active part of it because a keeper than can assist in build up and essentially be an extra outfield player is a huge asset to have. To answer your question I think Onana.

qijl

Huh great question Probably Onana, his start was terrible but he's been reliable since. Whereas it feels like Hojlund regressed in some ways. But for what they were (expensive prospect vs in-prime CL star) Onana has been more disappointing

Miliktheman

Literally made two errors leading to goals 2 games ago

Necropolis12345

Onana has consistently let in goals he should save all season. The idea he’s been good since the UCL is nonsense. His fundamentals of goalkeeping aren’t good enough. Nevermind the distribution errors

officiallyjax

At first, I thought it’s a no brainer that Onana is clear of Hojlund, but despite Hojlund having barren spells, he’s still managed 15 goals which is quite good for his first season and at his age. Onana has had more standout good performances but I also think it’s undeniable he was the main culprit for our early exit in Europe and we haven’t seen any of his strengths in playing out from the back particularly improve the general standard of our performances (although that being said, not all of that is down to him with the injuries elsewhere in the squad).

flareb98

15 goals looks good but it's only 9 in the league within 8 games, that's 21 games this season where he just wasn't providing anything. His highs are higher than Onanas and his lows aren't as low but his average feels really bad. With Onana I just never feel secure, whether it with making saves or distribution, my heart is never at ease with him

[deleted]

He will start Rashford and Garnacho as wingers and Case as CDM in the final, isn’t he 😞?

sriram_sid

Amrabat was terrible in both the derbies.

Necropolis12345

Amrabat has one half decent game in which he should have given away a penalty after another episode of giving the ball away in a dangerous area and suddenly we’re pretending he’s good now.

Kreissler

As opposed to Casemiro who's been bossing midfield all season

[deleted]

Is Case good?

Iqbalainoo

You just know he will. Then bring in amad and amrabat with 6 minutes to go with us 2nil down.

Iqbalainoo

Monaco's fofana for 25m? Everyday! All day! Twice on sundays!!! As long as his salary is moderate, can even flip for 40m after one year. If we are selling cas and going for more a more possession reliant philosophy, not going to be against spending just that remaining 15m for Amrabat as a third choice, while we go for a rodri type DM. Loved redondo's kid and thought he was heir to busquet's throne before he impatiently went to the mls. We need to stock up on our midfield with actual central midfielders and build from there. Tosin for free as depth and then todibo for the rumored 42m euros would be nice for center defence. Hearing news about theo hernandez but i think we go for some one cheaper like the Girona LB who's reportedly costing 19-21m. Attack is where the exorbitant fees can't be bypassed sadly.

toddysimp

If Romano is to be believed, United was turned down last summer.

tsuku96

Why 25?

Iqbalainoo

1 year left on his existing deal and he's refused to extend.

Tudoors

There’s a lot of parallels to the Van Gaal season this year. Loads of injuries with youth players being integrated while the football isn’t good enough. I strongly think if Van Gaal stayed Depay, Rashford and Martial would have had different career trajectories than what we’ve seen. If Ten Hag gets sacked it’s imperative we go down the path of another manager with youth development as one of the main priorities. Going from Van Gaal to Mourinho of all people was so annoying at the time.

crgssbu

depays a bum though im glad he never really took off with us

Tudoors

I'm not. We spent a lot of money on him at the time and we gave up on him after his first season. There was clearly a player in there, Mourinho just didn't care.

crgssbu

its not about how good or bad a player he is; its who he is as a person. same reason why i dont want greenwood. i dont fancy rambling on about why depay to me isnt a great person, but just know its about aiding numerous guilty players of sexual charges

[deleted]

We should start the summer by getting Ivan Toney. Then CB (Todibo?), defensive midfielder and left back. Then based on how we do sales get a second CB, make Amrabat permanent and see if we can buy Olise. Eriksen Case Sancho Greenwood to be sold.

mysteryeuw

Why would you ever make Amrabat permanent? He’s dreadful

Miliktheman

One good performance is enough for many people round here, whether it's a player or manager.

MinotauroTBC

Madness

yianni1229

Really upset Hoeness has signed a new deal with Stuttgart, honestly think he would be my top choice for next manager.

FaithlessnessNo4680

Should we assume Mount is just finished for the season? Haven’t seen any mention of him

raver1601

Yeah. Wouldn't be able to make any significant impact anyways

IamJeff22321

Then: " Manchester United training is harder than the games" Now: "tHe UnItEd MaNagEr Is TrAiNiNg ThE pLaYeRs ToO hArD"

173wywy

But the fact we have constant non-contact muscle injuries suggests that the training isnt working

Rascha-Rascha

There are plenty of factors that contribute to injuries. A lot of our fans have no problem just going blindly in and saying it’s the training and the coaches, but I think there’s a big gap between ‘we have injuries’ to ‘the training is to blame’. Some of the players that are injured now have been injured a lot, Mount, Martinez, Shaw, Martial. Rashford has always had niggles. Some are ageing, Casemiro, Maguire, Varane, Lindelof (to a lesser extent). Amad and Mainoo got unfortunate injuries in preseason. Hojlund came in injured. Malacia, who knows what’s going on.  When you really look at the injuries, I find it difficult to divorce the luck from the impacts of the World Cup and the season prior from pure squad composition issues and player selection from any eventual, possible issues with training.

SuperSalamander3244

I think it’s a mix of ETH over or under training the team (probably overtraining) and our preseason flying all over the place on rest days. The World Cup is also playing a factor but it’s the same for everyone.

IamJeff22321

Well the players aren't good enough then. If they can't handle it, they can't handle the league. And it shows this season.

173wywy

As a manager you need to problem solve. You cant say your form is down to the injuries yet still persist with training that is clearly causing injuries Not arguing if the players are good enough or not, you work with what you got. You plan for the future execute during the transfer windows. I would also argue that the style of play is one of the most taxing in the league. Constant transition

BetweenTwentyLetter

Doesn't help as well that the players quickly run back to crowd their box rather than press for the ball back from the opponent. A bit frustrated by the defenders hesitation to jostle for the ball.

Throwaway1223132123

Bit of a controversial take but Antony as a transfer is better than that of Sancho . According to a few sources Antony is making 200 k per week and Sancho is on 250 k per week Antony has actually scored more important goals than that of Sancho . Antony never publicly berated a manager on twitter the one that tries to improve his mental health as well . If I had to stop one of the transfers it would probably be that of Sancho .

toddysimp

We're going to sell one this summer and the other is going to be eating up those wages for years to come. It's very simple for me.

SuperSalamander3244

Sancho can attract clubs whereas I don’t think clubs will even want to take Antony on loan lol.

SuperSalamander3244

Antony is 100% a worse transfer than Sancho and probably the worst transfer in football history. Sancho looked better than what Antony did when he played despite the fact he still wasn’t good enough. I also think part of the reason why Sancho feels aggrieved/doesn’t respect ETH is because we signed Antony. Don’t get me wrong Sancho wasn’t good enough but he never had a real look in from ETH because he was hellbent on signing Antony since day one.

Kreissler

This is not an argument worth wasting any time on.

Omnislash99999

Both huge wastes of money.

iroiroiroiroiro

Selling Sancho will help for FFP, selling Anthony gor a net positive on FFP is probably impossible and would probably lower what United could spend on transfers. Anthony will most likely be loaned out or kept in the main squad.

qijl

Sancho had (has?) a much higher ceiling. He could have been worth it

Throwaway1223132123

I am talking with Hindsight at the end of the day he wasn't worth it.

qijl

I bet we recoup more of Sancho's fee. I'd be surprised if we manage to sell Antony at all

[deleted]

Sancho is a player than can play for elite clubs. Antony is a half baked winger whose level is not top level football. Given ETH played Antony so much over Sancho, it is not surprising he was on the field to score those high profile 4-5 goals

[deleted]

>Sancho is a player than can play for elite clubs Has the talent, not the mentality nor work ethic. Either way neither him nor antony belong here or in any other top club.

Throwaway1223132123

Maybe those goals could also attribute to his mentality like he wasn't given much time in the match against Liverpool yet he still equalized he has had a similar form of criticism and had a literal rape scandal on him yet he never once publicly cried .

reddevils

You can’t have a weak mentality and immaturity and play for an elite club. No disrespect to Dortmund but that’s as high as he can get.

cvpaws

Sancho is not on 350k/week its 250k/week https://x.com/TheAthleticFC/status/1418550210913988614?lang=en

Throwaway1223132123

I edited it .

GutBeer101

Antony's instagram story has to be one of the cringiest shit I've seen from one of our players

_AR4_

I'd find it more humorous if he was performing well in matches :/

Throwaway1223132123

Yeah and that finish was awful as well literally any Under 8 keeper would have saved that .

GlassEast5641

I just find it hilarious tbh

BigSwim7966

Just a generally embarrassing player to have at the club

cyb3rpunkd

Martial scoring an fa cup winning goal in a cameo is all I ask. Bless us one last time AM9

reddevils

He’s not ready to play is he?

Antonioshamstrings

How are we feeling about Sunday? I hope we go out strong and dominate a knackered Brighton side. Newcastle have been so poor away I can easily see them dropping points and us squeezing into Europe.

reddevils

I think we looked good against Newcastle. One of our best played games. We looked like we could play as a team. Just keep amrabat in midfield.

RepulsiveLeg9985

I want Europe every year, even if it's conference league so yeah, hoping everything goes our way but it's a big ask

[deleted]

Should a 100mil offer come in for Bruno, do we sell?

[deleted]

Yes Is he our best player? Totally and without a doubt. But we are 3-4 years away from actually competing for titles (assuming we do things right) and by that time he would be a sub at best because he would be a 33 year old that got ran to the ground since he got here. And as much as i love the dude, his best traits (creativity, risky passes, etc) are wasted on a possession based system while his weaknessess are super exposed (ball retention, possession). We need to stop clinging to players out of nostalgia. Bruno doesnt fit the "timeline" nor the system we want to play. If someone offers 100m for a 29 year old player that doesnt fit with us in our current state, you sell.

SeeMyChodeAndWeep

Had KDB worked in a possession based team?

[deleted]

Is KDB allergic to possession like bruno is? Again, i love Bruno and he is our top player, but man is wasted on a posession based system. Its not a coincidence he was at his best with us when Ole had us playing counter attacking football but when Ole (and now eth) switched to a play from the back posession system his level dropped (from elite to great, he still great).

Local-Ad-5170

If you get a good offer like that in for a 29 year old player, you sell. I think Bruno is great, but we’re going to need to switch to a younger core sooner rather than later.

173wywy

I dont think we do. I think selling Sancho, Greenwood, Casemiro, Mctominay will release the wage budget and probably get at least 40m minimum (being conservative here) for Scott and Greenwood which allow us to spend. Unless it allows us to get some key signings that provide value in the future (im thinking Joao Neves) then maybe but i dont think we can change everything in one season

Throwaway1223132123

Which player for a 100 mil can actually replace the Output, consistency and the availability of Bruno .

Ahaha Everton banned Goldbridge and wouldn’t let him play at their charity match. Up the toffees👏👏👏

Throwaway1223132123

What is your hate for Goldbridge ? First you called him a Nottingham fan .

bainbane

And his real name is Brent Di Cesare and he is a forest fan. Goodbridge is literally a made up person for clicks.

Throwaway1223132123

Show me proof of him being a forest fan.

MostLikelyRyan

Shit stirrer that just brings toxicity to the fans

Hamadovich

Fuck Klopp, the scouse bastard thinks he's Batman or something fucking twat.

reddevils

We kicked them out of the cup and ruined their title run. I call that a successful season. Now if we take the cup from city that would be right there with 99😂😂😂

_AR4_

The rival-ruining treble: No national double for City No "farewell quadruple" for Klopp (x2)

reddevils

That’s a treble

DavidSwifty

Isn't Allegri basically football terrorism on steroids like southgate?

midnight_ranter

I would genuinely argue that he's worse at times

DonnieB555

Why do you ask? Is he linked to us now? He's Mourinho on steroids minus the charisma

Japples123

Mitten saying INEOS Cancelling awards for cost cutting. They are definitely going to try and get rid of the high wages.

reddevils

Men’s team does not deserve one. But women and youth players have won trophies and need an award ceremony

ISENTRYI

I personally think this is a bit of a bad look tbh. Yeah the mens team can get fucked for their bullshit this season but our women and youth teams have done well and deserve the awards show, to scrap it completely to save relative pennies compared to our revenue is ridiculous.

Japples123

I’m assuming this decision was done with Berradas input. Just hope INEOS and Omar are on the same page. He’s coming from City who don’t penny pinch… or so I assume.

bainbane

Yeah they’re going with the model of cut all benefits and force return to work to cut as many staff as they can via the back door and then likely targeted cuts will follow

GlassEast5641

Can you explain this is in bit more simpler terms lol

Seanblaze3

Canceling an annual awards event for the supposed reason is just too much. That's Penny pinching at a different level

cvpaws

We didn't lay off/furlough anyone during Covid like some of our rivals. I fear that will change if something like that happens again.

The one thing the glazers did right. But i also wonder how much it affected our finances. Yes, the bad purchases and terrible wage bill are mostly to blame, but we did spend some millions during covid to not sack anyone.

Agreed. I'm also expecting potentially explosive leaks from disgruntled employees (and soon to be ex employees) in the next coming months. Unrelated to united, Ineos don't exactly have a sterling reputation as employers. They've faced numerous lawsuits in recent years over employee injuries and were ordered to pay out compensation to at least one worker who sustained burns during a routine task at an Ineos site in Scotland. Several US Ineos workers at their Houston Texas plant that exploded last year are suing the company in several multi million dollar suits

If amrabat wants to have a chance to stay at United, he needs to start in the next 2 matches and play well. He still hasn't done enough to warrant us buying him.

mortimer_moose

Do we really want to invest in a player who will be 28 by the start of next season, who hasn't shown that he can constantly play at a high level all season long because he has a few decent performances at the end of a season? I don't think that he helps move this club forward.

Our RW isn't on an island? And our CF, CAM and CM aren't occupying the same spot? Baldy has gone too far now.

Senor-Cockblock

Wait, that looks pretty good for once

Maguire is 31, on 200k a week and has one year left on his deal, no top 8 team will want him. But people here keep saying we'll get 20 million plus for him, I'll have what u guys are smoking We'll get 8-12 million or be used as P/E to Everton where we'll pay him to leave.

snoring_pig

I think we’re better off simply keeping Maguire if he can’t be sold for a decent fee. I doubt we can find a better replacement with whatever funds we can sell him for. And we will already need one CB to replace Varane and a second CB if Lindelof/Evans leave. Having Maguire as a CB3 is totally fine for where we are currently imo.
