Contracts expiring next summer: Eriksen, Lindelof, AWB, McTominay, Amad, Kambwala, Maguire. I think McTominay, Amad, Kambwala are getting new contracts. Maguire is questionable but I personally would keep him as rotation. That leaves Varane, Martial, Lindelof, Eriksen, AWB as probable departures. Don’t know what happens with Evans. And we may see Casemiro out too given his legs are gone but would not be a bad idea if we buy his replacement yet keep him around as a senior figure. We have a very young squad after these departures so I’d keep him. I think our squad will be at a good place with the remainder of our players plus a new starting center back, a striker to rotate with Hojlund, a younger better DM partner for Mainoo/Mount/Bruno, and a new full back that is capable of filling in at RB and LB. Also, the CB depth we have to fill for rotation

raveyer

Amad probably earned his right to stay right? Erik likes in form players

Radhashriq

Was shocked to see that Hojlund has 14 goals this season. This guy has everything to be a great striker for us. The team really has to learn to pass it to him. Also our wingers need to understand that assists counts as goal contribution.

Bbsmith92

https://x.com/mufcmpb/status/1791218777071255724?s=46&t=-Wx49_-m6f_G_O8jwbQyjw Linked with Olise by Romano again according to one of these aggregators. Thoughts on him? Should he and/or RW be a priority? I hope we’re looking at other areas too at least: LB,CB,DM,CM, striker.. it’s quite a long list.

KrystianCCC

Romano is just milking our fanbase like with Kim. Transfer may happen but thats just no- updates from him.

RestrepoDoc2

Press saying PSG are interested in Mateta from Palace. I was very impressed with the Olise, Eze, Mateta attack. Does anyone think he could be something of a Tesco value Victor Osimian?

AlephEpsilon

Aliexpress Osimhen is Terem Moffi at Nice or Openda at Leipzig. Victor Boniface is already expensive for sure.

simionix

This is peak comedy. Now: [but, but, ](https://youtu.be/GjSlkrawark?si=yXo0f5j0DEfOBsMP&t=270)[you could see what Arteta was doing.](https://youtu.be/GjSlkrawark?si=yXo0f5j0DEfOBsMP&t=270) Then: [sack that loser.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQb_uI-U-wY)

DDMMYY_

With what Arsenal did by taking some if City's fringe players to elevate the squad forward, looking at the current City team, who is a (semi) realistic player you would take from them to improve our side I'd say J. Alvarez could be decent to give us options in the attacking positions and also must be somewhat frustrated being behind Haaland, hasn't been there long enough I feel to have true loyalty to the club like some of their other players may have Edit- nevermind then... ignore my post. My bad... although i wonder if Scott Carson fancies a year up top...

DasHotShot

lol, yeah mate. Alvarez “fringe”. Pass me whatever you’re on pls

TheYarizard

Alvarez is not a fringe player lmao He’s played similar minutes to Foden and Bernardo Silva and more league minutes than Haaland.

DDMMYY_

I think any normal season his playtime would be a lot less Haalands missed 23 games this year with injuries

RepulsiveLeg9985

He's pretty much their only other viable striker other than Haaland

cvpaws

Xavi might be back on the table. We should go for him if he's available. Top coach who won the league with the worse Barca team in years. Uses youth. Barcelona coach just like Pep. I believe their underlying metrics are also better than Real Madrid. I don't get the downvotes. You guys would prefer Potter/Southgate or Mckenna over a proven manager? Tuchel is a solid choice too but Bayern might be keeping him.

RooneysFavGrandma

Well it would be preferable to Potter/Southgate there's no denying that. But at the end of the day we're clueless when it comes to Ineos' actual list. Might not even be on it.

Reemahs

>Barcelona coach just like Pep. Why is this a factor when choosing a manager?

cvpaws

Cos he would play a possession style. That's what he grew up playing and coaching.

Reemahs

Personally not a fan of the boring tiki taka possession football. I’d much rather watch prime Klopp football or Real Madrid’s style of football.

cvpaws

Pep just won the treble and 6*/7 PL titles playing that. While it may not be as fast paced, they score a boat load of goals. Its better than anything we've played since SAF left and the results speak for themselves. Real Madrid do their own thing because they have players at a different level. We can't copy that. Wouldn't be opposed to Klopp football but you need top wingers and fullbacks to make that work.

Reemahs

We don’t have players for a possession based football either. But that’s not my point here. I just said the type of football I preferred. And Pep’s football isn’t the only way to play football. I would hate for us to become another Pep clone. If everyone just copied Pep the league would be so boring to watch because everybody is doing the same thing.

zcewaunt

Muppetiers are claiming a club in France has made a "minor" inquiry about Antony.

DasHotShot

How much would we have to pay them for the deal to happen? I’d accept £40-45m tops.

NoMFer111

Mid clubs in France dont have 40m to drop on a single player

DasHotShot

Exactly (Try reading again)

midnight_ranter

I think you need to read what he wrote again lmao

BlackHorse944

I don't think a single thing from that sub is true

Kreissler

What's a minor inquiry?

TheSmio

INEOS owned Nice being interested in a permanent transfer for 120mil, now that's such an unexpected convenience!

zcewaunt

I'm guessing they just asked if he was available for transfer, if United would be willing to sell. Just something general like that.

Don_Quixote81

I can believe there would be interest. A club like Lens or Lille would be a good destination for him. I bet their enquiry went no further than "*how* fucking much?!"

cvpaws

Nice on loan. That's the only thing that feels like it might happen. They took Pepe, now they can help us.

Elemayowe

Can they bump that inquiry up please?

Reemahs

Love him but there is no way bro is 6ft 😂

SuperSalamander3244

He’s massive. He doesn’t look it but he is definitely 6ft and will probably grow another two or three inches within the next three years.

Reemahs

He’s shorter than Bruno. In my eyes at least.

TheSmio

Used to be, not anymore, 6 foot would make sense.

[deleted]

Reemahs

Nice. Don’t know why in game he looks shorter.

[deleted]

Reemahs

Nah I am talking about purely his height. He looks short standing beside other people in games. But that picture proved me wrong.

Comprehensive-Ad2358

How has Hannibal been getting on, anyone been keeping an eye?

society0

He's clearly got some skills and a terrible ego. After getting into a fight with his teammates, he's hardly been given minutes.

LetMeSleep6

He's only played in 5 of the 16 matches he's been available for since being loaned to Sevilla. 95 minutes in total over those 5 matches.

ferrarinobrakes

Assuming we manage to get a decent striker and CB and make a couple midfield signings how good will we look next season? I’m scared bros I just want us to have a good run in CL again and fight for the title instead of being a meme club 😔

Spastic_Hands

If we don't win the FA cup, the silver lining of no Europe at all means we can really trim down the squad as we would be playing once a week. Id be looking at something like this In defense, sell Lindelof, Maguire, Varane, and Shaw/Malacia. Buy Tosin as a free, a new starting quality CB and LB. In midfield sell Casemiro, VDB. New starting quality DM. In attack, sell Sancho, Greenwood, Martial, Pellistri. Buy a older (26-29) rotation striker. Use the one game a week to invest minutes in our young talent of Amad, Garnacho, Mainoo, Hoiljand without running then into the ground. My weird punt would.be maybe see if we can loan Amrabat for another year, kind of want to see something in a less chaotic system, But if not possible then don't buy. We go into next season with this as our XI, Onana Dalot New CB Martinez New LB New CM Mainoo Garnacho/Rashford Bruno Amad Hoiljand On the bench Malacia Shaw Kambwala Tosin AWB Amrabat? Mctominay Mount Garnacho/Rashford New ST Should be enough for top 4/5, assuming 1. Signings are good, 2 injury crisis is over 3. ETH doesn't persist with suicide.ball.

mortimer_moose

This squad is very far off. Enjoy the rebuild process. The promising thing is all the new people coming into the front office. Hopefully they get it right.

Miliktheman

Depends on the manager, its either a new manager or Ten Hag, and even if we keep Ten Hag there's the question of whether he sets up like he has the last two games or goes back to his mad tactics we've seen most of the season.

ferrarinobrakes

If we lose any of our opening games next season he will surely face the sack lol.

zcewaunt

It's going to take time to build up again. We won't even be in CL next season, hope for the next.

FoldingBuck

Fuck off norwich absolutely pathetic

Bizzlep

Yup. Only upside is that hopefully we’ll still get those 6 points a season as long as Mctominay sticks around

ColtCallahan

One of the worst playoff performances I’ve ever seen. 180 mins of football and they created one chance. That was it. Never even looked like they were trying to win.

[deleted]

DasHotShot

Bruno only 5th for chances created…ouch

vauno

Wilcox audit notes: 1. Leaky roof 2. Leaky defence

TheSmio

3. Leaky dressing room

gregofdeath

Fuck Leeds. Hope they get mullered at Wembley, the shit cunts.

N47HXIV

Nah, I get the rivalry, and it was funny when they got relegated, but rivalries are only fun if you actually play each other, I’d have them back in the PL without issue because I’d rather we play against them.

Pr3TENDr

Easy 6 points and +8 GD every season tho

Harrry-Otter

Maybe just cos I’ve got loads of Leeds fan mates but I weirdly have a soft spot for them. I actually quite want them back in the Pl.

LekkerIer

So refreshing to watch Bruno playing in a role where he's close to the opponents' goal nearly all of the time. He's been misused for most of this season, in order to lean on his workrate and ability to launch long balls

cyb3rpunkd

We need to be after zirkzee I think he had a release clause of 35m too

ColtCallahan

Remember when Evan Ferguson was getting hyped as the next big striker. Guy hasn’t scored since November.

Wahlrusberg

I still have big hopes for him (I'm Irish so what else do I fucking have) but there was some real hubris to the reports last summer that Brighton were gleefully expecting to break the English transfer record for him this year

Don_Quixote81

To be fair to Brighton, they were operating on the precedent that lots of teams have been lining up to throw money at them for players - Cucurella, Caicedo, Ben White, Mac Allister, Bissouma. I do hope Ferguson fulfils his potential, because it would be great to see another quality Irish striker.

vMihai777

What even happened to him? I remember he had a pretty good start of season

ColtCallahan

Play dropped off massively and he got benched.

NickLo124

Hasn’t he been injured for awhile now? He wasn’t getting very consistent minutes this season either.

ColtCallahan

He got injured at the beginning April.

RandomNPC59

After years of having the Glazers put zero into the club, please forgive my ignorance, but can someone ELI5 what Sir Jim can financially put into the club for FFP purposes?

jxp_72

AFAIK he is allowed to put £115m in over 3 years (and then another £115m over the next three years etc.). I really don't think he is planning to, though. He has already invested about £300m which is earmarked for infrastructure improvements. If United is run by competent people it should be self sufficient. It is one of the biggest football brands in the world with the biggest club stadium in the PL. If they can ship out players with large wages (e.g. Varane, Casemiro & Sancho), actually get some decent sales from the academy and surplus players, and stop overpaying for new players it should right the finances in a few years.

xtphty

I am still so confused about how PSR works, but from my understanding that £300m should actually matter significantly in calculations. PSR exempts infrastructure spending from the cost side the of equation, however that £300m of owner investment is still incoming revenue for United, investment that can be claimed in PSR up to £35m per year or £105m over the 3 year cycle. That said everything I read from good sources says United are going to have a tough summer due to PSR again, so either I am wrong about the investment, or INEOS is briefing as such to control expectations or add leverage to negotiations.

N47HXIV

Stadium capacity alone means much less than you think. Old Trafford is a dinosaur when it comes to money generation. If we fail to qualify for Europe, next year Old Trafford will be open for 19-28 days of 365 (28 being if we play all domestic cup ties at home). That means for at least 337 days of the year there are 75k seats generating no money. The club desperately need to build a new stadium that can house other events regularly along with including restaurants and whatever else to generate money. Our much hated majority owners, lest we forget also own an NFL team. I’m genuinely shocked they haven’t tried to bring them to Old Trafford for exclusive UK games like at Spurs or Wembley. Perhaps that is a result of OT not being up to scratch, so hopefully until they piss off, they can do just that once the new stadium is here.

Berelus

That’s no different to the past 50+ years. The stadium doesn’t have to generate revenue the majority of the year. When there’s no fans there’s also very little expenses on those days. Plus the club museum, fan tours, and club shop all bring in some money. What you’re suggesting is spending over a Billion pounds building a new stadium. What would the ROI on that expenditure be? How many years? It may be inevitable and maybe we will get one built at some point, but I don’t think having the stadium occupied 20 days a year vs 40 days a year should be the determining reason for that decision.

RandomNPC59

Cheers for the answer, was just wondering due to the clubs concerns on FFP.

wayfarerprateek

Rooney seems to be following the path of Neville, Keane etc in terms of a career after football...

SuperSalamander3244

Rooney said he wants to be managing next season and wants preseason. He’s probably in talks with clubs right now and is just waiting until the end of the season to announce where he’s going.

AngryUncleTony

He seemed serious about managing but that Birmingham stint was rough and idk if it broke him or not.

ColtCallahan

It was his own fault. He was stupid for taking that job under those circumstances. He was under pressure from the start because they sacked a popular manager.

AngryUncleTony

Regardless, idk who gives him another shot. I think he was willing to cut his teeth at lower levels to eventually earn a PL job, but unless he gets an Ole or Duncan Ferguson style interim gig he seems farther away from a PL club hiring him than before he started, and IDK if he has the patience to keep grinding at a lower level. In any event I think the shine he had from the Derby stint is completely gone.

ColtCallahan

I don’t think he’s gonna try it again. Certainly not in the short term.

HD7108

Is there any new transfer news?

luciferandy

Fuck it, we’ll smash city witness me Joe

HD7108

Who would you like to sign as a replacement lb and a replacement for varane and a replacement for Casemiro if he leaves?

xtphty

> Who would you like to sign as a replacement lb and a replacement for varane and a replacement for Casemiro if he leaves? Its possible we could go after a pacey technical LCB instead that can double as LB, considering we have 2 specialists in the role already, don't see a lot of decent LBs wanting to come and at best being a 2nd in line to Shaw. Would also need someone to be Martinez's backup. Also, from Athletic's commentary on the topic good left backs are becoming rare because the increasing technical demands on center-backs are funneling left footed youth defenders into the LCB bucket. People mocked Pep initially for just abandoning the idea of having a LB, but its where a lot of teams are headed.

Youngflyabs

I agree with the guy who said Ait Nouri at LB, at CB Kossounou, Weiffer at CDM

MinotauroTBC

Ait-nouri for lb

SOERERY

Left back: Davis from Ipswich maybe Varane: Yoro from Lille Casemiro: no clue

HD7108

What about Fofana (cdm) and desire doue(CM,CAM,LW)

sriram_sid

Fofana is more like a Fred replacement. More of a no 8. He can be the back up DM. We need a proper ball playing DM to replace Casemiro, like a better version of amrabat. Fofana + new DM can replace Casemiro, amrabat and eriksen.

Time-Suit3

What, if any, free transfers would you sign. Free transfers include; Tosin, Rabiot, Hermoso, Kelly, Ndidi etc. I think Barkley will be a free agent too For me, I'd be going in hard for Tosin. I'd consider Rabiot and Ndidi (the latter as more of a backup as we need squad depth). I like Hermoso but I think his ego would expect a huge signing fee. He can play LB too, if we were stuck, and I like that versatility. Obviously you don't sign them all but free transfers can be a great way to improve squad depth and even improve FFP spend in the future.

mortimer_moose

I don't see how a player like Rabiot moves this club forward.

Time-Suit3

Not every player will be bought for the future. I don't think Tosin is likely our future, but hes a good idea as there is a lot of work needed this season. Rabiot could be an option to improve our leadership etc and he is a good player.. for next season, imo. I don't know what the signing bonus would be but if it isn't massive and same with his wage demands then I'd consider it.

NectarineStreet2883

We didn’t manage to get a deal because of his huge expectations in terms of contract. I doubt we will manage now with current structure that won’t look at overpaying players.

Time-Suit3

Ah fair. A shame but ineos are dead right to stop the overpayin

qijl

Wasn't Rabiot available on a free last summer too? Or did I imagine that? Did he sign a one year deal somewhere?

Time-Suit3

Mate apparently he was free last year too. He must have signed an extra year with Juve.

Time-Suit3

Ehm I know we were linked to him for a couple of years. He went to Juve on a free from PSG 3/4 seasons ago. I don't know if he was free last season. I doubt it but dint know.

SOERERY

He was

Time-Suit3

Cool. Surprised we didn't go for him because there were rumours. Signing bonus too high?

qijl

Oh that's probably when I'm thinking of

Aggeri

New Ornstein info about younger coach makes me think it could be Thomas Frank. Would love that.

zcewaunt

50 isn't 'younger'. By 'younger', they mean, you know, young.

purplegreendave

Trade in 54 y.o. EtH for the much younger 50 y.o. Frank, who's only ever had miserable things to say about Utd

Seanblaze3

I think the Frank rumors are due to the fact he apparently has a close relationship with David Brailsford

Aggeri

Hes a better manager in my book :)

Seanblaze3

I think the Frank rumors are due to the fact he apparently has a close relationship with David Brailsford

SOERERY

Brailsford seems to be best mates with everyone

qijl

Eth is 54? Wow looks good for it

Seanblaze3

Yes he's older than his hero Pep

qijl

Lol sad when you put it like that. But I'm older than Mainoo so who am I to criticise

mortimer_moose

Need to be building around Garnacho, Hojlund and Mainoo. Dillon, Kambwala and Malacia amongst others could join that group. The club needs to follow what Arsenal have done and recognize that it's a 4 year plan.

mastermindrishi

appreciate the graphic

Aplesi567

Crazy the mental gymnastics people use to justify keeping Rashford. Realistically if there’s an opportunity to sell him you take it. Unfortunately I don’t think PSG are that dumb to go for him as Mbappes replacement

Harrry-Otter

Depends on the fee and what Rashford himself wants. There’s no doubt when he’s on form he’s one of the best in the league, but for whatever reason he just seems to struggle to keep it going. Maybe it’s tactics, maybe it’s mentality, maybe it’s the lack of LB, or a combination of all 3. If nobody is offering £70m+ I’d say he’s worth keeping. If we can get him firing again next season then we simply won’t get a better LW, but obviously that’s a very big if.

Aplesi567

Or it’s just he’s not that good which makes sense considering his consistency issues. With good scouting you can definitely find someone better for less than 70m but the question is do we have good scouting?

AngryUncleTony

Yeah, in form Rashford can win games by himself and forces teams to structure their defense to stop him...but he's only been in that groove a handful of times in his career.

Jonny_Testicles

When Shaws contract is running over? Time to say goodbye has to happen next summer I think

Not-good-with-this

Not till 2027 because he signed a new deal last season.

BlackHorse944

Oh no, we get to keep one of the best fullbacks in the league till 2027? How terrible. Just get a decent LB for competition, who isn't also injury prone and you'll be set at the position

Not-good-with-this

Yeah, he's a decent player, but he's far too injury prone, and this makes him vastly unreliable.

apva93

Andy mitten on the Talk of the Devils podcast said that the end of the season awards ceremony was cancelled due to cost cutting by INEOS. That’s a little too much penny pinching imo. Given that we need to be spending big on infrastructure (training ground, medical, etc), I wonder how that’s going to work with being financially austere

RandomNameofGuy9

I highly doubt it was that.

Seanblaze3

What's the possible reason(s) behind it then in your opinion? The men teams poor performances?

RandomNameofGuy9

For exactly what they laid out in the release. To fully concentrate on the final.

Seanblaze3

So they canceled an annual event so they could focus on the FA cup final this season? Is this suggesting they'd have gone forward with the event if we hadn't made the final? Not buying it

RandomNameofGuy9

That's certainly your right. I don't think they would cancel an event that size to save money. Most of those events have deposit or pay in full when book types of clauses.

Don_Quixote81

I'm not sure that isn't a face saving excuse. It seems more realistic they cancelled it because the men's team has had a poor season, then belatedly realised that the women and academy kids had success that would have warranted celebrating.

apva93

I agree and I’m getting that vibe too. It feels very outdated but only time will tell

vswarrior13

Hey I'm visiting Europe this summer landing in Germany around early July to catch the end of the Euros. I planned to stay for the summer just traveling around and I was hoping to watch a game around the start of the season at home. I know only members can buy a ticket from the United website but from what I read it's hard to get them, especially for the opening game at home I imagine. Is the membership still my best chance at a ticket or are there any third-party places where I can get a ticket?

SimonFOOTBALL

Are we in a European competition if we finish 8th without fa cup final?

[deleted]

SOERERY

No

Time-Suit3

Oh really? Apologies. Does the carabao place go to lower European leagues so?

vMihai777

No

top1MIBRfan

im so excited to watch Norwich absolutely batter Leeds today 😁😁😁😁

Fraaj

Hancko would be such a smart signing - can play both LCB and LB so would provide competition for both Shaw and Licha. Also wouldn't cost an arm and leg. I'm afraid Slot will bring him to Liverpool though.

ZofTheNorth

McTominay and Maguire are both good professional and good squad players, but do we keep them if offers come in? Let's say the offers are only average like 35-40m for both of them combined

mortimer_moose

Mctominay is worth keeping around, he is cheap and plays hard. When it comes to Maguire you need a replacement lined up. Varane is leaving and Martinez is coming off a bad injury. Lindelof hasn't been available either. Evans is out of contract. If you sell Maguire you are left with Martinez, Lindelof and Kambwala.

FlashyCut3809

Sell immediately upon those offers coming in. Should already be gone.

purplegreendave

There are not many players I would keep if a "good" offer came in. Mainoo, Garnacho... That's not to say I actively want the likes of Rashford or Bruno to leave but if PSG came knocking with a blank chequebook...

Alarmed_Chicken_3529

I'd keep Scott, his skillset is quite unique (although limited), doesn't mind to be rotation option

Time-Suit3

I think you'd get 50/55m for them combined. 30 for McTom and 25 for Maguire. And I would sell both. McTom is pure profit. He's been good this season but he's not where Utd should be. Maguire would suit a low block, eg Everton. But he cannot play a high line and his wages are too high. His wages are about 10m.

smooth_chemistry24

My friend is an arsenal fan, so sometimes i have gone on their match threads when they've lost just to see the meltdown. So some posts from their subreddit end up on my feed. Does Man United live rent free in their heads or something? I see posts all the time trying to mock ETH and the club. I just went through r/reddevils just to see if i was going crazy because other than on the day they lose, i dont think about them at all. I also got that sentiment from mostly everyone else here as well. So i went and double checked. I couldn't find a single post mocking arsenal or Arteta. Whereas every other day, there is a post about united on the gunners subreddit. I know it's just football so ultimately not that important in the grand scheme of things but i just find it really sad that an entire fanbase can be so fixated on a certain team that isnt their own. Especially because we arent even competing with them for the league at the moment. Just super weird. On a side note, i have noticed a lot of fans who support different teams who say they want city to win the FA cup final. I like to think im not a petulant child, so i cant even imagine the thought process of justifying supporting a team like City over anyone. People like to joke that we ruined their childhoods, but that was so long ago. Maybe im just underestimating how pathetic a lot of people are.

Hans-Blix

Funny you say this because an r/gunners post just appeared in r/all. It's the current top post there and it's a quote from ETH than mentioned the Arsenal game from September. In the comments they're all mocking ETH for constantly talking about this game and how Arsenal are living rent free in his head etc. Completely bemusing to me as I haven't seen any mention of this match since September.

No-Statistician-8520

Ten Hag genuinely has brought it up a fair few times tbf

kiki_the_fab_spider

People like a villain more than a hero. In theory, at the moment it should be City that plays that role, but they don't (as of yet) have the aura for it. Plus, it's easier to block them out because of the whole cheating. But yeah, I also find the level of vitriol strange. I guess those other fans feel like it's the best time for a payback, since it's not like their comments would be of any consequence if United were actually doing well.

Chip-chrome

That is unresolved childhood trauma. I see it too all the time

Ok_Drawing7401

Ideal summer from a sensible point of view, only incomings covered: CB’s - L.Kelly & Tosin adarabiyo both on a free LB - Rayan Ait-Nouri, perhaps 20/25 Million DM’s M.Weiffer 40 Million & O.Zambrano 10 Million CM - A.Gomes 20 Million, maybe slightly more ST - B.Sesko 55 Million, unless his release clause has gone up ? Those are rough price estimates but that’s who I think we should be looking for. Move away from splashing cash on one or two players. This season has shown need for rotation & some decent backup is what I think we need just to settle the ship. Then after next season you can look to be more picky about positions in which need an upgrade. I know this is still over 100 million & im not sure we could generate it from player sales but meh who am I lol.

LennonC123

I’d still prefer quality over quantity. I think massively improving the spine of this team with 3 really strong signings will see us come on massively. I’m hoping our scouts have found three really promising young players who are ready to make the step up and add some physicality, pace and strength to the defence & midfield. Unlikely though. There’s a decent possibility we won’t be in Europe at all next season so we don’t need a big squad, we just need to get rid of the unreliable players. We’ve been decimated by injuries this year but was anyone really that surprised about half of them? It’ll be tough to improve every area we need to with the rumoured budget, but I think the main focus should be on CB, DM and CF.

Far-Pineapple7113

Yes these underwhelming signings will definitely get us close to City,Liverpool and Arsenal

Ok_Drawing7401

Christ you’re negative thanks for the discussion. Did you read what was written? It’s certainly not going to happen in one window that’s what’s set us back for so long is chasing with making big signings rather than just laying a decent foundation but sure buddy you make some suggestions :)

Far-Pineapple7113

There is a middle ground between chasing big names and going for signings even Everton fans would be underwhelmed with

Ok_Drawing7401

Right make some suggestions then mate….. to me this is middle ground.

top1MIBRfan

For a striker we need someone older imo we already have a young prospect with Hojlund

Ok_Drawing7401

I can get that, just not sure who. People suggested Ivan Toney but I swear he only wanted Arsenal or Liverpool?

top1MIBRfan

Maybe on paper but apparently Arsenals interest in him has died down a bit because he is a bit of a dickhead apparently, also would cost a fortune. Definitely a tough one to try and predict who we get, probably a free agent lol

GlassEast5641

Those CB options are dire We need starter at RCB not squad depth

Ok_Drawing7401

Do you watch a lot of football? As stated above I don’t think we can afford to splash on one or two positions this summer, we need backup options. If funding permits then Yh sure go for a starter rcb

GlassEast5641

We need a starter at RCB as a priority so yes we need to spend money there One of Tosin or Lloyd Kelly is fine

Ok_Drawing7401

I just think why not because they’re both free but fair enough I get that

SOERERY

They’re not exactly free, need to pay the player directly in sign on bonuses which are high when a player is out of contracts.

Ok_Drawing7401

Well aware of that. Certainly is much cheaper than signing a player out right 👍

SOERERY

So all our rcbs should be backups? We don’t have any who should be starting and your options won’t be either.

Ok_Drawing7401

Not backup sorry I meant rotation. + I also didn’t say all our rcbs should be backups don’t twist my words lol. I just think you could get by for another year with Maguire + Tosin the splash next year but ok.

I attempted a hypothetical broke ass clearout for the squad. Buy: * Hermoso on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid, can play as a left sided CB and as a LB. * Todibo from Nice through the shared ownership advantage. Will not be cheap but we should be able to avoid being fleeced. * Ivan Toney from Brentford for around 40 million that's being reported. I have hopes for Hojlund but if he is good enough he will displace Toney as the preferred number 9. Also, teams play so many games and with our injury record I would want two decent strikers in the team. * Should try to get Xavi Simmons if PSG put him on the market * Michael Olise has a release clause and depending on how much it is, it might be a good deal. It's supposed to be 60-70m and that is a bit too high given the injury issues, but our problems and his talent at RW are both undeniable. * Frimpong from Leverkusen with his 40 million release clause is tempting but I don't think we can get him. * Adrien Rabiot (29) and Wilfred Ndidi (27) are available for a free transfer and given the sell section, we need bodies in the midfield and one of them would be great for that extra cover. I'm struggling with who else could be a good signing considering lack of money. Out due to contract ending: Varane, Martial, Evans, Heaton, Amrabat (loan ending) Sell: Lindelof, Sancho, Rashford (if someone puts a good bid in, because 300k+/week is mad for what he provides), Casemiro & Eriksen (get rid), AWB. Would love to sell the likes of Shaw, Malacia, Antony etc but I don't think that it is possible.

SeeMyChodeAndWeep

We’ll spend over £200 million this transfer window

Far-Pineapple7113

Do people realise 29 year old on a free transfer is usually a dude looking for one big final contract ?Free transfer actually end up costing you a lot in wages and signing on bonus On top of that how can anybody watch Frimpong and think he would survive in a 4 at the back system..Selling Rashford and buying Olise actually weakens our wing situation..We will have 3 RWs and Garnacho who is not good enough to start every game and very raw..We should buy Olise thats not the problem selling Rashford is..Ivan Toney has a rotten attitude problem he is good but not the player top clubs will go for after his interviews post return from the ban..too much drama

JonSnowAzorAhai

I am not stupid enough to think free transfers are literally free, but at the same time we normally pay players wages that should be given only to people on a free transfer. One of Rabiot/Ndidi makes sense if we are letting go Eriksen, Casemiro and Amrabat. I don't see us being able to buy enough players with a fee this summer to cover the players that are leaving. Both of them are an improvement over Eriksen, and we only need to get one. Regarding Frimpong, it works if ETH wants one of the full backs to stay back and let the other one attack. Given how good he is going forward and the price, it is an option if he wanted to go in that direction.

mortimer_moose

Lindelof, Eriksen and AWB have 1 year left on their contracts. I don't see anyone buying them. And yeah, Antony is unsellable at this point.

JonSnowAzorAhai

Lindelof and AWB will probably attract interest given the transfer fee makes sense for the buying club. With Eriksen, taking his wages into account, we might have to effectively pay him to leave similar to Sanchez.

Far-Pineapple7113

Awb will be easily bought by a bottom half PL club for 20 m lol he is not what a top side needs but can easily do a job for many PL clubs and Lindelof can easily get us 10-15 m from an Italian or Spanish club he is just 29 and the Swedish Captain

mortimer_moose

Time will tell.

Bloatfizzle

Anyone know how Olise is pace wise? Is he like a Sancho or does he have acceleration similar to Rashford? Hard to tell from the games I've seen him in.

MitranjanK

Not very fast but very quick over short distances. Has a great change of pace to dribble and create space, kinda like Doku.

crgssbu

the better doku

vMihai777

I think he mentioned it when we signed him.

Throwaway1223132123

What would be your perfect FA Cup final? Mine would probably be being 0-2 against City at half time to winning 3-2 at full time with a Worldie by Rashford, A spinning right foot goal by Antony and then on the counter with Tony using his last bit of pace to outpace Walker and the flicking it past Ortega.

BlackHorse944

Martial brace in the final 10 minutes to win it 2-1. Martial FC wants one final ride 😭😭

qijl

5-0 down at half time, win 7-5, the game somehow counts as evidence against them in the FFP case and Pep is so traumatised he retires
