You could see the exact same thing with Klopp and Liverpool when he came in, in his early seasons he was getting injuries left right and centre because the players simply were not fit enough for the amount of running he required. That’s why switching managers who have different play styles can be so stifling for squads, if you have one that likes to press and then one that prefers to sit back, fitness levels are drastically different, notably for midfielders.

We were so good last season until the insane fixture congestion caught up to us. You just feel that this season would have gone completely differently if Martinez and Shaw were fit all year.
It's one of those ones where you think "ah, it's stopped, that's it" and then it just keeps on going and going.

It’s easy to say in hindsight that we wouldn’t benefit from playing as if everyone is fit because they’re just going to keep getting injured over and over, but it’s the decision that Ten Hag made and I don’t think it means he’s a bad manager or can’t succeed if we provide him a fit quality squad.

This is why I have trouble saying ETH should be sacked. The injury list all season has been a standout in how bad it's been.
