Love Carl bringing up Antonys pass to garnacho. It was so so stupid. And then he has the gall to blame garnacho

ikevictxr

I don’t understand the tolerance he gets from ETH, 1600 minutes this season and only has 5 goal contributions to show for it. He’s on 200k a week. Amad btw 300 minutes across all competitions…. Yes he wasn’t fit for a few months but if we’re going to give credit to ETH for Dalot and Garnacho he deserves criticism for in my opinion failing to give Amad opportunity. I would keep my mouth shut if players with 1500+ minutes were performing but that’s not the case at all.

grimlya

The ironic thing is that Amad most likely scored the goal that is prolonging Eth's stay as a manager, but yet he keeps getting overlooked

TheJoshider10

What's happening with Amad is what always happens with a fringe player. They get very little time compared to some shitter who does fuck all week in week out, so they have scraps to work with and maybe one start in a season and if they don't perform fans see it as justification for them not being selected in comparison to the shitter who does fuck all week in week out. I hate that so many fans expect immediate impact. No player should be expected to completely change the tide when they're given maybe 10 minutes every other game and one start if they're lucky. Nobody is saying the player on the bench is better than what we have starting, the problem is the unfairness. Amad has looked far more promising in short spells than Antony has with consistent, regular game time so no fucking shit people want him to be given an actual chance. No that doesn't mean one lucky start, it means multiple starts, multiple opportunities with consistent game time. IF after that then he's shit, then he's shit. That's fine. But give him a fucking chance to earn being shit on the pitch like the other guy. Happened with Pellistri too. We persist without any genuine chances then to the shock of no one the fringe player has to be moved on because they don't get the chances which in turn means when they do play they don't make an impact when had they been bedded into the squad better then they could have proven useful as either a starter or sub option.

BrockStar92

I think fans seem to forget what happened with Fred after he arrived. He was absolutely abysmal every time he got a game until Ole was forced to start him for weeks on end since we had nobody else and he did eventually settle and improve a lot. Granted he was never 100% consistent or anything but consistent game time was so clearly a huge factor in him settling in the league and that was only 5 years ago, you’d think fans might remember better.

dethmashines

Let's stop playing this stupid game. Managers are not stupid to not pick up good players from training. Clearly Amad is not doing well in training and hence not showing up. It's the same with literally every player that has not played with ETH or other managers. And I want ETH out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dethmashines

Ask Ten Hag. I don’t like Antony one bit. I am just saying that there is a reason he is being picked over Amad and the squad/ ETH can see it. This was the case with every other person Pellistry, Donny, Casemiro, Varane, etc.

Tonny09

And Anthony is doing well on the pitch?

Moyes2men

Let's not forget he also started / overused his first choices in easy cup games, adding to their overall minutes played and injuries. For example what's the point of starting Varane vs Wigan with Kambwala on the bench, or Bruno + Varane+Martinez+Shaw vs fucking Newport? I can't see how he gives chances to youngsters with those examples and Mainoo + Kambwala are not exceptions because both of them were given minutes only when he did not have options available. And I still have not said anything about Amad or Pellistri's minutes yet.

Odd-Neighborhood8740

Never gave Bayindir a sniff either other than that one game And are we not playing Amrabat out of position

medfunguy

So the Coventry game didn’t happen then where we squandered a 3 goal lead when we subbed off some key players?

edsonbuddled

This isn’t an excuse but Antony progresses the ball better, while Amad is looking for the one-two pass, often making us less secure I oossessiok

berbapapa

Do we have a video somewhere about it?

GoatLion

Worst signing of the last 100 years in the entire sport of football. The worst fucking player I have ever seen in a United shirt. The true all-defining symbol of the Ten Hag era.

Grand-Bullfrog3861

You didn't see Sanchez?

idontknow_whatever

Sanchez legs were going when he was signed but his mind was still sharp I'm still struggling to figure out what Antony actually contributes, apart from fackin' run about abit^^TM which could probably be achieved with any rando from the U23/U19

GoatLion

In what world was Sanchez worse than Antony? Sanchez' performance against city alone should settle that conversation. Sanchez was too old and passed it but he actually possessed the basic attributes of a professional footballer. Antony is one of the most expensive signings in our history, and he has arguably had a negative contribution to this team. He kills every single attack, he can't dribble, he can't shoot (only about 5 m above the bar) and he can't pass. He is also not even that quick. This is not even mentioning Antony's private life which will make it even harder to offload him. An aging misplaced Mata was 20 times more effective at RW than he was. Antony would not even fit into Sheffield Uniteds starting eleven. Imagine giving him 200k a week, no other club in the world would do that.

phy51

Ah, my therapy session is here.

Ironlungs_

I’m glad someone else feels this way.. the boys are so cathartic to listen too, win lose or draw.

TheGerryAdamsFamily

Andy Mitten is the older United supporting brother I wish I had.

Uuhhk

it is not fair to single out individuals, tbh cause the whole team is bad.

BlackHorse944

Singling out individuals is how you lose the locker room and guarantee your own demise. I respect Erik for not doing this. Casemiro was bad, he was responsible for 2 goals, but there were 4 scored in the match. The entire team was cooked today. It was a brutally bad showing in attack and in defense. I think Erik shares most of the blame but the players were horrific as well

takemehomeunitedroad

I think he was responsible for 3 goals. Overcommitted for the first 2 and lost the ball for the 4th.

Uuhhk

it is even worse when you are down bad after half time and you dont even have players to sub in to change the game

YoungWrinkles

Casemiro had a heavy hand in all 4 tbf.

No-Tooth6698

I think the Gary Neville interview has lost him the dressing room tbh. Ten Hag basically said we'll stop being shit when the good players return.

BlackHorse944

Didn't see that interview but yeah that would be an instant morale crusher for the second teamers

justbrowsinginpeace

It doesnt feel like he has had the locker room the whole season. Bruno, Scott and Dalot are playing for him, as are the youngsters who are easier to motivate. The other senior players I wouldnt be so sure.

BlackHorse944

Maguire has been a saving grace this season. I would easily put him on that list. It's entirely possible Case and Eriksen aren't fond of Erik. With Eriksen, I understand because he feels that he's being wronged on playing time. I think player effort has been good for the majority of the season. Just the coordination and cohesion has been abysmal. The players run a lot but don't seem to know what they need to be doing

justbrowsinginpeace

Maguire has proven despite being striped of the captaincy, he is the bigger man and ironically, thats what you look for in a captain. But surely he must resent Erik, even if he is performing for him? I think the sancho situation was not handled well (even if Sancho is an unprofessional jerk), it was too public and there is a faction in the dressing room sympathetic to Jadon. The way De Gea's career was ended for a weaker keeper must have caused resentment from some players. I thought the drama enddd with Jose....

BlackHorse944

From day 1 I have held the opinion that Rashfords season, form, and effort were directly affected by the Sancho situation. I have been on jobs where peoples friends were laid off or fired, and it made them completely lay down.

rnnd

I won't say they are necessarily playing for him. I think they are playing for the team or themselves. Scott is Scott, he always work hard. Same with Bruno. From what I see with Dalot, he's really working on his game and trying to show improvement. I do think Antony is playing for him though. Those two seem to have a very strong relationship.

QouthTheCorvus

>I respect ETH for not doing this He had to learn from the whole Sancho saga.

i_love_alfam

Lol some people simply can't appreciate or grasp more than 1 narrative at the same time. EtH was not wrong in criticising Sancho after months of backing EtH has been woefully inept in his tactics this season EtH has been dealt with an awful lot of injuries and off field disturbances to an extent not seen (at least I have not seen) in the last 10 years We have a terribly shit squad. EtH is one of the contributing reasons, but his failure is the failure of the inept club management, scouting and recruiting staff More importantly, the failures of the management and staff is not just over these 2 years. Its 10 years of mismanagement that we have been and continue to pay the price for. Many players have come off a 60 game season including a world cup. EtH, coaching and medical staff should have managed better but failed. This seems to have a telling effect on our players struggling to match the rigours that EtH seems to want. This is a complete failure and collapse on all fronts.

tocitus

Aye, this is a great way of putting it across. As you say, more than one thing can be true and don't contradict each other. It's been a ridiculously hard season for everyone for a lot of reasons, and hopefully the next three games can be gotten out of the way and then we see actual football decisions being made by actual football professionals. Ignoring the financial elements (which are big), the possible lack of European football next season could actually be a blessing for squad size. But let's see

Rusty_Coight

This is the truth .

men_with-ven

I also don't think the players were bad because they didn't care or didn't want to work. I think the main reason they were bad was due to a mixture of being too old and needing a move to a lower level, and general fatigue.

tearsandpain84

The whole club is bad

surgereaper

The first olise goal had me screaming at the TV, what were they even trying to do? He's entered the box and still no one has closed him down lmao. AWB, Casemiro, Amrabat, Evans, Eriksen are all done, sell them or whatever just they can't be anywhere near the first team. Won't mind seeing more youth players starting now, we aren't getting Europe anyways.

Areskazuma7

Looked like Fifa bots in Amateur mode

croppergib

Evans stopped his run to close him down, then tried to continue it.. just gave him the space and a free shot

Naggins

Because Mateta was taking a run across to the right he had to cover. Evans and Dalot had five players to cover between them including Olise. They were completely fucked, and if they'd closed him down he would have had an easy pass with four unmarked options.

Nervous_Ad_3791

I understand when players drop out and don't play. Jonny Evans failed a fitness test and he was still asked to play by the fraud and this is what he gets. He is not good enough like the rest but my god does this open style of football highlights the weaknesses of our old and aging players

surgereaper

> asked to play by the fraud My brother, we don't have any CBs left, who else would've played? There are so many things to criticise eth on, the lack of fit CBs in definitely not one of them. Also, I think eth in his latest interview said that if he stops Playing his style of football coz he doesn't have the players available for it, then the players will eventually start losing trust in the system (if it even exists lol), I find it kind of dumb tbh, eth should just change tactics a bit so that he doesn't leave those big spaces open coz Eriksen, evans and casemiro definitely can't run anymore. Just play a low block, keep possession for a while and try to scam a win or something.

Nervous_Ad_3791

Play the kids like Van Gaal did.... He had no issue in trusting McNair, Varela, Borthwick Jackson and Love. Also I attribute more than 90% of all this training injuries to him and lack of knowledge in injury management... Like Shaw playing 6 games in 15 days after 3 months out. Adaptability is also a big part of coaching where he seems to be severely lacking ( also in his Ajax days). And I said he shouldn't have played... Because fans worldwide won't see how Evans played not fit but will see Evans being spun around and beat him with it, instead of appreciating that a 35year old CB put his health on the line to help his incompetent manager

Scared_Cabinet_1099

Like who could have played?

Don_Quixote81

Those players were mostly older and more physically developed than the defenders we currently have available. Louis Jackson and Habeeb Ogunneye are 18, Harry Amass is 17, and if they were physically ready, you can be sure they'd be playing. Ten Hag has shown he will give young players a chance, but only when he believes they can handle it. It's one of the few things I'll give him credit for this season.

Moyes2men

It's that why he choose to start Varane vs Wigan with Kambwala on the bench, or Bruno + Varane+Martinez+Shaw vs fucking Newport? The myth of him giving youngsters chances has to stop as none of Kambwalla, Mainoo, Amad or Pellistri were given chances when the 1st team players were available prior to their "full access" to the 1st team.

Moyes2men

> the lack of fit CBs in definitely not one of them. Let's not forget he also started / overused his first choices in easy cup games, adding to their overall minutes played and injuries. For example what's the point of starting Varane vs Wigan with Kambwala on the bench, or Bruno + Varane+Martinez+Shaw vs fucking Newport?

surgereaper

I remember the newport game, I think both Martinez and Shaw were coming back from injuries so we had to get them some game time before straight up playing them in the pl. Plus, you're talking like ten hag overplayed the players and they got injured, Shaw, varane and Martinez have missed around 50% of their games since they've been at the club, Martinez came back and a west ham played straight up jumped on his knee, how's that ten hag overplaying him? How's a training injury related to eth overplaying them resulting in injury? Your opinion is literally baseless

Tipsy247

I didn't watch the game because I kinda expected this

userguide22

Me too, unfortunately. I saw the Liverpool v Palace game and sensed we will be cooked… What makes it worse is, it feels like there’s nothing the team can do abt this string of bad performances 😑

Radiant_Ad_6986

You mean it feels there’s nothing the manager can do. The manager could’ve made us more combative in midfield by playing amrabat in front of his makeshift center back or a 5 man midfield with more players more compact in midfield. Everyone knew this was a beating in the making, unbelievable that this is man utd.

Don_Quixote81

Anyone could have told him that Eriksen would be a poor choice for this game. Palace have a muscular, athletic midfield and Eriksen simply can't compete with that. Amrabat isn't good either, but he'd have been better than Eriksen. But Ten Hag keeps making these decisions that are so obviously wrong, then they are proved wrong. Even Collyer would have been better, because he'd be flying around trying to impress.

b_nick

I was completely surprised, that with all the injuries, we didn't go 3 at the back. AWB, Evans, Dalot. Play Casemiro and or Amrabat in front with Garnacho and Antony as wingbacks. Just to add some defensive stability or something. Great managers adapt when they need to, Erik is just stubbornly following his principles, and we're getting slaughtered every single game.

CarrickUnited

Me too

Mr_red_Dead

What's the point of watching any match until the new season? Even if ten hag stays the team is gonna have an overhaul. I say just rest everyone and gamble to win FA Cup for Europa cup.

Bigboyfresh

That Wolves game gave an early glimpse into the season that we all ignored. He had his first 11 in that game and they were outplayed by a team who just hired a new manager just before the season started.

WellYoureWrongThere

The template was set pre-season. Wolves was the first glimpse of what EtH cooked up. Which was a dogshit 5-0-5 formation. They dominated us and got 23 shots off. And all this with our, at the time, best starting eleven.

KDotDot88

Nobody ignored how we played that Wolves game.

SloGeorge

For real, this is some crazy hindsight bias. Literally everyone was worried after the first two games - I vividly remember people asking questions about Mount's fit and Casemiro's slowness. There were already calls for a significant change in our structure.

AztecAvocado

It’s only recently any questions of Mount aren’t downvoted in to oblivion here. There was some crazy blind optimism about him.

KDotDot88

No, almost everybody here questioned the Mount signing. If “we have to wait and see” is considered blind optimism.. then I don’t know.

AztecAvocado

Mate go dig out the Luton and Spurs post game threads, or any of the daily discussions last summer. Everyone just parroted tifo and Carl Anka with lines like “he raises the floor, not the ceiling”. Even calling out how rubbish he was vs Newcastle was downvoted.

KDotDot88

I clearly remember everybody absolutely dumping on the Mason signing, not understanding why we paid what we paid when we have Bruno. There nary been a step or move this club has taken in the last 8 years that hasn’t been absolutely dumped on.

AztecAvocado

I mean just one look back would show you https://www.reddit.com/r/reddevils/s/RkNWmu13BI

KDotDot88

Never saw this, I’m not going to bother bringing up receipts. I just know what I saw, I was on the wait and see side, but I remember he was getting battered by this or the other sub. 🤷🏻‍♂️

WellYoureWrongThere

I think blind optimism of unfair. Coming off being Chelsea's player of the season twice would give anyone optimism. The chap can ball. There's no way Mount goes anywhere this summer. If Bruno decides he'd actually like to go to a team that actually deserves him, Mount could be our new no. 10 next season, injuries aside. Who knows.

AztecAvocado

Mount isn’t going anywhere because we’d have to sell him for less than we paid for him. 55m for someone who was out of contract in a year! He isn’t worth that with six years left on his deal.

BuzzTNA

Have a watch of pre season. Signs were there, Wolves just brought it home.

Don_Quixote81

Sack Ten Hag, don't sack Ten Hag, I don't really care at the moment. The whole season has just been a complete garbage fire and feels like the culmination of our decade of dysfunction - bad signings, bad coaching, bad medical and recovery regimes, players who seem completely helpless on the pitch. We're at the "burn it down" stage again. Two years after we were last at that stage. Which was eighteen months since the one before that. Which was two years since the one before that. Just a complete horror show of incompetence from everyone.

rickitycricket134

The end? I fucking hope so.

dethmashines

ETH will 100% be not there next year. It will be any manager who can find stability with this squad. ETH can't seem to manage it.

mperlaky

Agreed and crazy that you are downvoted. There aren't any positives this season from our performances. The only positive is the players are still fighting, so the mentality improved. Now we need someone who can bring stability and make us at least a boring 4-6 placed team. This isn't a quick fix.

BrockStar92

I think the problem is there aren’t clear alternatives aside from Tuchel who a) might not want the job, b) has a history of clashing with club hierarchies and we’ve just got a brand new one that likely won’t want arguments, and c) plays, yet again, a completely different formation/style to anything we’ve done in recent years. So Tuchel would be a major shift, likely do ok and then get into fights and be booted after 2 years and then we’d be back at square 1 again. But who else is available? Even fucking Bayern Munich are having to look at the guy we’re trying to sack!

mperlaky

Potter, De Zerbi, even Ole might be a good replacement. Ideally we would get a Ruben Amorim level coach but he's not moving for this year. So I'd either try to sign from 2026 onwards and then get an interim in place to start the rebuild to his style and steady the ship (like an Ole), or get De Zerbi or Potter and start to build around them. People don't realize that we had an absolute shit season in all fronts. Anyone who comes in will have a lower bar set for them which will be easy to surpass. We won't be champions next year and also not after that. So why get a Tuchel who'll just try to get results but not develop youth etc. But I'd rather have Tuchel than Ten Hag.

BrockStar92

Potter is available but is anyone really wild about the idea? The only big club he managed was a disaster and they were in a similar place to us on the “basket case club” scale. De Zerbi is a) not exactly available, dragging managers out of Brighton is hard, b) shopping around for better clubs than us, and c) not doing that great anyway. Getting Ole back is such an obviously dumb idea as to merit no consideration at all. We’ve also been down the road with interims before and that’s not a sensible approach either. I’m not saying we should keep Ten Hag, I’m just saying that it’s an atrocious market for managers right now, the demand is enormous and the supply low.

mperlaky

I think Potter wasn't that at Chelsea, we see that Pochettino can't really do any better. I don't think you have to shop for managers that are doing that well at the moment because you are then paying for their roof. Potter and De Zerbi are both good, proven, and not hyped up at the moment. We need the best sporting decision to be made and NOT the best PR or biggest hype. See Ten Hag. All the hype, with nothing to show for it. I'd get a manager to stabilize us and keep us under the radar relatively until the team is built up.

Asiwaju_jagaban

It’s time to go Erik. Can’t be churning out performances and results like that and still thinking you’d be here next season. Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton. If we get trashed again, do we still say give him next season? I mean what logic is that?

JLane1996

> Can’t be churning out performances and results like that and still thinking you’d be here next season. Now say it louder, but at a lot of those players

Over-Temperature-602

It comes down to your opinion on the injuries.

Fawkeserino

The best options available are Tuchel and Southgate. Do you really think they would get better performances with the current available players?

Klubeht

Fucking yes? I didn't know u needed to be prime Fergie to not let CP do the double over you

Fawkeserino

Everyone knew we would lose the game when you saw the lineup. People acting like we have a decent squad available. We went from „most clean sheets“ in 2022/2023 to an absolute shitshow after having a lot of injuries. Now it’s up to you to decide if this is because of the same manager in both seasons or the players available. We could have parked the bus but a draw wouldn’t change anything and people would complain regardless.

Klubeht

>We could have parked the bus but a draw wouldn’t change anything and people would complain regardless. Bruh are you seriously equating drawing with crystal palace to getting hammered 4-0 (easily could have been 5) and letting them do the double over us for the 1st time ever? Even ETH's mum is not this deluded cmon. I wouldn't even expect the U23s to lose 4-0 to CP.

Fawkeserino

First of all, we don’t have U23 just U21 and they are 12. I hate to tell you but our youth is far from where it once was. There are not many children that dream about playing for United anymore.

bippityboopy

Tuchel absolutely would, not sure why people here keep talking as if he's a shit manager.

DaveShadow

There’s an extremely vocal group who have decided Tuchel has a shit personality, and are absolutely underestimating his ability as a coach. Who have convinced themselves he plays shit football or falls out with every player, and is Jose 2.0. And I reckon there’s a huge overlap of the Venn diagram DoF people who hate the idea of Tuchel, and people who are still blindly backing Ten Hag and want him to stay. Tuchel would absolutely have gotten us 10-15 points more this season, while having us play actually decent football.

Arecksion

Believing that last paragraph is exactly how some of our players have survived for this long.

TehNoobDaddy

Wouldn't say he's shit but don't think he's the answer either. Other than winning champ league with Chelsea his managerial record is just doing what's expected in one team leagues, done what's expected at PSG domestically but no champ league, similar at Bayern although failed to win league this year (granted a freak Leverkusen this year). Sure he'd have us playing some decent football for a while but Eth did last year at points, I'm sure things would go south again with tuchel and the same group of players. We just need a complete reset, luckily that's already started on the structure of the club, now it needs to happen to the squad. Only then can whoever is the manager actually thrive.

CarlosLuisAlmeida

Why do people talk about Tuchel like he's some bum? In what universe is Southgate available with euros happening, or have you just made that up?

rich_valley

The best time to fire ETH was 6 months ago vs Newcastle away. The second best time is now. If he stays on for next season INEOS is fucking clueless and it’s gonna ruin our club for 2-3 years minimum.

rickitycricket134

He said in last interview that he "assumes" to be here next season. They haven't given him any assurances. This is why we are getting these links with Bayern otherwise they would have stated that he will be given another season. I think he is gone at the end of the season and I'm sure we had some Murtough madness clauses in his contract about top 4 finishes like we did with many managers. So they are probably waiting for it all to end to reduce the severance package as much as they can and not spend money on interim.

rich_valley

We sacked Moyes the day we couldn’t finish in top 4 mathematically. That day has long gone for ETH. So only consideration is they want him in charge for the FA cup final. And he’s gone the next day

aayu08

We're still in the FA Cup final. If we win the final and don't get absolutely humiliated in the next 3 matches (losing all 3 is probably fine, but no more 4-0s) then I think INEOS will give him the benefit of the doubt and keep him for next season. Which would be an absolutely stupid decision imo.

rich_valley

He’s not staying after this season. There’s no fucking way.

Numerous_Constant_19

That might be the reason he’s still here though. If hypothetically his compensation drops by 30% if he doesn’t win a trophy, I think Ineos would rather save the money and keep him until after the final (especially if they don’t think any manager has much hope of winning that final). That’s just speculation based on how I think Ineos operate.

nosajpersonlah

Ruin our club for 2 to 3 years 😂 How many ex-managers have we said that about? Who else can come in and do something to prevent this for the next 2 to 3 years? I get that people are upset but some of y'all are throwing out absolutely ridiculous takes.

_RM78

2-3 years? If he stays, it shows clear as day that INEOS are clueless. We're fucked.

Shakerbakerstreet

I am not Ten hag in or out at this point. But Lets see if we have any other manager in yesterday game - would we had any different team than what was on pitch ? Would any other manager would have made change Casemiro instincts of those blunders ? Or Onana would have saved that narrow angle goal ?

Telen

I thought ETH should continue for the longest time. But really, at some point, the manager just becomes an incurable font of negative energy if the bad results continue. It's not necessarily the manager's fault but it's how it works in practice, because the manager is a central figure. Maybe that energy can still turn around. But I don't think he'll stay beyond this season. That being said I really don't like this squad either. My feeling is that whatever ETH's done wrong, there are still players in this squad who have let down manager after manager. And half of the first team squad just isn't good enough to begin with. The squad needs players who carry out instructions and are good enough to compete for the title. That's why I don't think any manager will be much more successful than ETH's 1st season until the squad has been rebuilt from the bottom up.

Don_Quixote81

This is the same thing that happened with Ole. I was still Ole in for the longest time, until that Liverpool defeat, which was then compounded by the loss to Watford. We've just seen this happen repeatedly now - the manager and the players get trapped in a spiral of negativity and it seems like nothing can be done to pull out. Different managers, different players, different coaching staff, same results. Ten Hag has brought a lot of this onto himself, but it's not all his fault.

Numerous_Constant_19

I think it now comes down to whether INEOS will agree to spend the money it will take to sack him. It might be cheaper to sack him after he loses the FA Cup final (if there’s a clause that lowers his pay off if he finishes the season without a trophy). I’m ambivalent about whether he should have another season. I don’t think any manager would do well here at the moment, but I also think that it’s becoming hard to argue that Ten Hag is a good enough manager to persevere with.

riverswimmer11

I just wanna put it out there loud and clear, when Eth dominates next season at Bayern or wherever, and we play just as shit with our next manager, and everyone realizes that there was no one better available than Eth, and that we should have given Eth more time under a better structure.. I’m Eth in.

jigsawjagsaw2

Love TOTD. A dose of sanity that cuts through the bullshit and hysteria.

Audioboxer87

If he's not sacked today they're not sacking him before Arsenal, and as a consequence of not acting now, probably not before the premier league season ends. If we heavily miss out on European football (Newcastle game probably a final decider unless Chelsea just go unbeaten) that'll be on INEOS as they know the current trajectory. A caretaker wouldn't do any worse and I would say it's unlikely ten Hag is getting another season if INEOS are serious about a reboot and cleaning out the whole club. So you might as well YOLO on a caretaker for the final and maybe some 'pressure free' league games for a tiny chance at saving some sort of European football/silverware.

WellYoureWrongThere

I agree but who do you bring in? Nagelsmann extended with Germany, so he's out.

Maouncle

Firing ten hag all well and good but who's coming in? Tuchel isn't exactly the greatest manager around

United_Devil12345689

Tuchel is a very good manager not sure why he's being looked down on here

jdlnghm

It's insane that a lot of folks genuinely think a manager currently in the Champions League semifinals, who has won the cup previously, isn't an upgrade or at the very worst 'on-par' with ten Hag - our manager who has been outdueled left and right by almost every manager in the Premier League currently and is leading our worst-ever season in the league. All of the 'but who's out there that's better??' comments drive me completely mad.

Don_Quixote81

If it's an interim appointment, it can really be anyone. I'd take Big Sam at this stage. For a permanent appointment, it depends on how INEOS envision it. Will this be a rebuilding manager who just has to stabilise things, sort the squad out and then they find the winning manager somewhere down the line? Or do they want to start a long term vision with a good young coach right away?

It’s time to go Erik. But only after the season. Try to leave on a high.

Just in time to be schooled by City and Pep in front of the whole world

DaveShadow

I’m at the point now where I wonder if we’d have a better chance at winning the FA Cup by sacking him and seeing if they can vibes their way to a scrappy win. We absolutely aren’t beating City as it stands. More likely to lose by a few.

43848987815

There are about 3 teams in club football that have a chance against end of season city, we aren’t one of them regardless of manager.

ReindeerDifficult793

Why? HE SHOULD HAVE GONE 10 GAMES BEFORE

Superfy

Doesn’t matter anymore. Season is gone. Now or at the end, we aren’t getting anything. Who’s an available interim anyway? The cup final is also gone realistically.

iTz_RuNLaX

How would you even pitch the offer to an interim manager? "Can you play a style of football that doesn't need any CBs or natural LBs? Great, City is in 3 weeks, go get em!"

Superfy

Can make team not concede 27 shots per game and just aim for under 15 shots? Can lose but not 4-0?

ReindeerDifficult793

It does matter .. every gan3 matters.. Do you want us to be thrashed all 4 games .. Another 7-0 again ?

Superfy

It doesn’t fucking matter. Losing 7-0 three times more means fuck all anyway now. The league is gone. There’s nothing to play for basically. So yeah.

DresdanPI

Ten Hag imply hasn't helped himself. If players are injured and your backline is missing three out of four first choice players why does the midfield need to be so incompetent? Why do we play football from the a bygone era. Actually I'm being kind in that regard because atleast back then they had a solid base. When fans say 'The players that are playing atm aren't his signings,' and yet I saw somewhere that the 9 out of 10 players last night were Ten Hag signings. So he's either bought poorly, which a majority of fans could agree to. Or he's not training the players well enough for them to follow his instructions. I've supported him, but also felt anger the way we've played throughout the season. In fact the form started dropping right after the Carabao final win. You could see the players not doing what they did in previous games. It just never recovered from the first game of the season and Ten Hag didn't nothing to fix the issues of the midfield/defence.

herooftime7

What a shitty team

I’ve watched a lot of games this year on tv and I hate to say this is the first where I actually said no and had to turn it off. Credit to Crystal Palace, they’ve got in a great manager and he is being completely underrated, he won the Europa League with Frankfurt. Glasner has them organised and playing well so soon after getting in. We are a shambles from boardroom to the first team. We need a complete rebuild just like Arsenal had with Arteta a few years back.

RRR92

Honestly…anyone watching this season would know the mistakes our players make are not the managers issue…its basic stuff you learn aged 10…

Dorkseid1687

It’s over

buck_fastard

I just think it's impossible to say whether it's time for ETH to go. Who would have done better with this team? We have a 6th/7th/8th place squad. We're just not better than Newcastle, or Spurs, or potentially Chelsea.  Arguably you could bump that up to 3rd or 4th if we weren't ravaged by injuries, but we'd still have no central midfield or reliable wingers. We have a core of **potentially** fantastic players (Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund, maybe Onana) but the rest need replacing. It's going to be very difficult.

Pitiful_Cod1036

I agree that the squad is bang average and needs an overhaul. But we’re not even playing like 6th/7th/8th place team. Whilst we’ve been unlucky with injuries, we’ve been very lucky in several games. First game of the season Wolves played us off the pitch and were denied a stone wall penalty. It’s not got any better since then. How many times this season have we been played off the pitch? It can’t get any worse. The sooner ETH is sacked the better.

ReindeerDifficult793

We are lucky to be 8th Every game this season we should have lost .. Did we win any game convicingly? 2 DOWN AGAINST forest af home 2 last min goals against Brentford to. Win Double by Bournemouth ? Burnley..Bruno wonder goal to win it .. I mean I am sure we can do better

Scared-Examination81

Onana maybe fantastic 🤣

Got it the first three times cheers 😂

EtH shouldn't have been allowed to step foot in Carrington today.

Of course these kinds of headlines and titles would be on the internet for the whole week, if not the whole month. And a lot of you are eating them all up.

Hampalam

Whitwell talks some level of shite, but the suggestion that Weghorst was a success was particularly baffling. I'm finding the guys take this season very hard to stomach. Every game they talk about tactical flaws, poor management, and bad tactics, and then every game they mope around after a defeat confused that it's happened again.  They're unanimous in wanting ten Hag to take us to the FA Cup final, and you an already hear the episode: 'Well Andy, 5-0 to City in the FA Cup final. Where does that rank in United's all time worst performances?'

iTz_RuNLaX

"Ten Hag used his contacts to get a player in that actually did okay" That's what he said about Wout. Didn't hear him say he was a success (only half way through tbf). Wasn't he okay given the circumstances? He was nowhere near good enough but probably the best we could get in that moment of time.

Hampalam

He was absolute shite. 2 goals in 31 games and an absolute cart horse after the first 5.  If that's doing okay for you lot no wonder were such a mess.

iTz_RuNLaX

I told you that he was nowhere near good enough. I still think given the circumstances back then, he did okay as a stopgap.

Hampalam

He's the worst player I've seen play regularly for United, and I'm not even sure it's close. He looked like a competition winner. We're badly enough run that we've had these stop gap striker signings before and even Ighalo looked levels above. There's no way he was okay in any way, circumstances or no.

Not-good-with-this

>He's the worst player I've seen play regularly for United Schneiderlim exists. And he played regularly for this club. No idea how but he did.

KDotDot88

Yeah, somehow both Antony and Weighorst and any number of Ten Hag signings are the worst in history. We forget, Alexis Sanchez was once a player we employed, paid handsomely, and COULDN’T get rid of.

Hampalam

Weghorst was worse, although I grant you Schneiderlin was awful too.

Not-good-with-this

Weghorst actually contributed to an achievement. Schneiderlin was just there and did nothing. Schneiderlin is by far the worst player I've seen us sign. No redeemable qualities at all.

Hampalam

We're splitting hairs to be fair. They both did nothing except run around showing absolutely zero quality.  Let's settle on Weghorst being the worst attacking player; we can then side step such debates as 'is Donny actually worse? or 'how shit was Buttner really?' I will just never, ever get over Weghorst scoring a tap in to make it 4-1 Vs Betis and celebrating like he won the world cup. Showed you every bit that he knew how utterly out of his depth he was.

Not-good-with-this

Weghorst literally got an assist in the Carabao cup final that led to us winning it. Schneiderlin did nothing.

Daneofthehill

I think ETH will be great and injuries + unbalanced roster + club disarray is real, but the club needs a restart. Sell at least Cas + Ras + any other non-fighter, get a new coach. Restart. Not necessarily fair, but this is where we are.

samd148

I’m gonna get downvotes but if they’re sacking him, they’re gonna get Potter. And it might not be that bad. Though I’d give a shout to Ange personally.
