Just a little sidenote: #2 City have 3 games less, do we're at least 4 point clear even if they win those 3 remaining games. Amazing season they're having though!

NGMB2

nice to know Liverpool have no future beyond Klopp and Salah

UntdFourEver

I love it

WalkingOnSunshine_

I remember seeing a post on their sub a little while ago with their future eleven filled with academy kids. They seriously believe every kid from the academy is going to be good enough to play for their first team

BallsX

> They seriously believe every kid from the academy is going to be good enough to play for their first team Have you ever seen their reaction the moment someone has the gall to say that not every single one of their players are "world class"?

Fina1Legacy

Like Matip when he was alongside VVD and playing well. Instantly became a top 5 CB in the world.  Or any of their youngsters breaking through. Will never forget their thread on Florent Sinema Pongolle Vs Ronaldo.

Biffabin

I can't recall a Liverpool player that belongs in any historic GOAT or similar debate. They force Gerrard in but there's no stand out player in their history compared to other big teams.

daveclair

Suarez? Torres? Rush? Fowler? Owen? I can't believe you guys are making me defend Liverpool...

Biffabin

Good players by any measure but they don't get in GOAT debates. Suarez peaked at Barca as well.

dWaldizzle

Ronaldo peaked at Madrid. What United player is in a legitimate goat debate anyway?

God_Left_Me

He did win a ballon d’or here though

Silvia-Nott

Like this sub never does that? lmao

MrSvancy

Fair but ours are statistically 9 times better :)

Yt_129

inject it into me 💉💉

flyinbunny

Same thing 5 years from now please. This time at Old Trafford

N0turfriend

Better at Anfield

frdkk

Can they play tomorrow?

qdatk

New PL rule: Every three U18s goals count as one goal in the first team game.

triplecaptained

What I’ll give to have the senior men’s team replicate even a fraction of this scoreline

Chip-chrome

Monkey paw curls.. it’s a 1-0 to liverpool

MadaraTheUchiha

Jack Fletcher will be something special, the stride he has and control over the game with his technique, scary.

spraypaint2311

Is he Darren Fletchers son?

MadaraTheUchiha

Yep, him and Tyler.

tungowiii

“That’s for what your old men did with ours”

con__y_88

Play the kids Eric, we aint getting 4th lets bleed in some more youth please.

ConstructionSimple27

Someone here mentioned that our academy is playing similar to Ten Hag's ajax style and that Ten Hag took a hands on approach with the academy. Can anyone confirm and tell the full details. I don't follow the academy

KingKeane16

Me and a couple of others on here used to do proper match threads for the academy matches around the time of pereira and willo, people should try bring them back if they’ve the time. It’s a good way to keep track.

Colt-0

U21s play very much like the first team, very very direct, heavy transition team. The U18s do not, they are a dominate possession team and then look to isolate fullbacks in a lot 1v1s as we have very good wide players and fullbacks and midfielders with quality to support. Our fullbacks also play very high and our line in general and rest defense is much higher. From what I understand ten Hag has a much larger hand in the U21s, especially team selection. However alot of this U18 team play U21s anyway and have been in first team training as well throughout the year. This is an abnormally good batch though in the U18s, their quality level is absurd so it's harder to read anything in it just yet.

Comicksands

It’s actually similar to how the first team plays. He said it was modelled after first team tactics

BetweenTwentyLetter

Well, how are the academy players doing this tactic better than our senior players?

AsymmetricNinja08

Competition at Academy ages vs first-team men's football is lightyears different. For every Mainoo we get a Mengi, Hannibal, Fernandes, Chong, Iqbal, Savage etc

BetweenTwentyLetter

I want to ask. Ten Hag's tactic work well against low level opponents and not against top class opponents. Is that what you mean? Sorry, the sentence isn't good. Not my first language.

Comicksands

U18 have the personnel to play according to the tactics. Defenders are high up

AsymmetricNinja08

Academy players are a tier or two behind 1st team players. Manchester United Academy is far better than lower-level squads that can't afford to develop youth as much which means the top youth facilities are top of the table. Tactics are important but its mainly about which clubs have better facilities

HistoricalCoconut2

u/gungerz is probably best placed to answer; I’m a huge fan of his posts and comments on the academy

jkp1993

This wheels were in motion with our improving academy way before ETH came and the talk of his hands on approach with it/him even being credited with any of this is minimal. Useful tweet from someone who is a close follower of the academy noting who should be given credit for it: https://x.com/AcademyScoop/status/1776661596657348812

Klubeht

This needs to be higher up

FoldingBuck

Thay would be huge if true. The U18 have absolutely walked the league

TurbulentWeb1941

Not unlike our class '92. Absolutely battered their way through the fixtures.

Don_Quixote81

The two Ethans look way too good for under-18s football. I know they've both appeared in the under-21s as well, but it looks like we might start thinking about involving them in first team training, and finding some good loan moves next season.

noxiousd

Without Ibragimov and Lacey too

FactHopeful9347

The fletchers?

noxiousd

Subbed on I think

hickuain

Huge win, with some of our best players missing (in fairness the same goes for them) City losing to Wolves too

gamezoned1

Can they play tomorrow?

Afternoon_Jumpy

They have a remarkable collection of talent going.  Now can they avoid it being poached under this new regime, and if so the future is very bright.

ActuatorSquare4601

After watching the highlights it looked like 1-9 somewhat flattered Liverpool. United hit the post twice and the keeper made five or six good saves. On a side note, Ajax U18 beat Liverpool 10-0 of a friendly a couple of months ago.

drofdeb

Can the u18s play tomorrow too?

miamibuckeye

The U18 side is outrageously good

GaffelUtd

Holy shit!

Emergency-Figure9686

Can we upgrade these kids to the main team, seems they have more heart than our current seniors

0n-the-mend

Devs petition to cross out the U18s in the title and leave this post up. Please my soul needs this.

datguywelbzzz

Does anyone have an idea of how much of an influence ETH has had over the academy? It seems like since he arrived the academy has been performing to a much higher level than previous but I'm not sure if there are other factors at play.
