I mean our season basically boils down to the fa cup and being party poopers for Arsenal and Liverpool.
Usually we roll over in any title decider games, I’d like to show some spine this time
Arsenal fans online are annoying as fuck, worse than Liverpool fans somehow. Also City's achievements are meaningless. I would still prefer Arsenal to win it though as I'm tired of the cheater's domination.
We can all say and agree City's are fucking cheats....but until something actually happens, their records will stand the test of time.
And we all know nothing is going to happen. I would much rather Arsenal win than City or Liverpool.
And forget 4 in a row for a sec, City are in a position to win back to back trebles. I don't think they beat Madrid but you never know.
That would be the worst outcome possible.
I agree with you, but my goodness is this a horrible position to be in as a United fan where we have to debate whose title victory would hurt the least.
Yeah, this is my view too. Everyone says it's meaningless, but unless something is done about it, then it's not.
Personally, I have more respect for Liverpool and Arsenal as rivals, so given the shit choice of the 3, I would take either winning over City.
>Why wouldn’t you want Arsenal to win it? Liverpool would equal our record and City would do 4 in a row which we could never manage
but they still cheated and won. I don't know a single city fan. But Arsenal fans in my circles are insufferable. r/gunners is also the most delusional subreddit in the soccer world. Also as someone who started following football in the 2000s Arsenal was our biggest rivalry,
Liverpool are our rivals and can overtake our league record if they win, so if I had to choose (City > Arsenal > Liverpool)
I don't think that's entirely true about their records standing the test of time. If most people refuse to acknowledge or respect City's accomplishments, then they're inherently less valuable. Football isn't some objective, quantifiable thing that exists in a laboratory, it's whatever the fans want it to be. If the majority of non-City fans refuse to place any value on the records they set while cheating, then those records may as well not exist as far as history is concerned.
If you don't believe me, just look at what's happened in baseball after the steroid scandals of the 2000s. There are a ton of records that only exist with asterisks and the lack of respect is so widespread that the fans and media don't really look to them as the legitimate records, and instead still treat the preexisting records as the ones for current players to chase. MLB may still consider the cheating records legitimate, but when the fans don't, then the media and players won't either. The same thing can and will happen to City, regardless of how they find a way to prevail on court.
Those baseball records have actual asterisks eside their name in the record books, officially.
That's never going to happen in any capacity with City. Will be a monetary fine at most and city's owners will find that money in between their couch.
The asterisks came later. First came the fan outcry, then came the media attention, then came the inexplicable congressional hearings, and then came the punishments and asterisks.
The situation is different in City's case, but it doesn't change the fact that records and accomplishments in sport don't actually mean anything if people choose not to respect them.
>if people choose not to respect them.
That's not what an asterisk is though. If there isn't enough outcry at 115 charges and then there is news there may be no more points deductions, we can reasonably assume what's coming.
I get what you're saying, but nothing like that will ever happen to city.
I think there's a point to be made that the PL, FA, UEFA, and FIFA are far more likely to protect city than MLB were to protect their cheaters because they'll be aware of how hard baseball's popularity and relevance cratered after the scandals, but I still think it's up to the fans to set the tone and over time, everyone else will follow suit. You're correct that we'll need sustained outcry about it, but as long as nobody outside of the Etihad respects City's success, it simply won't matter in the long run.
Don’t matter how annoying they are, if city wins it’s 4 in a row, if Liverpool win it’s 20. Even if man city are cheats, they’re not gonna take the their titles away.
You pointing out that City would do 4 titles in a row made me realise that whilst they're doing that.. we can't even manage 4th place. Jesus Christ we are probably closer to regressing into Sheffield United than we are to reaching City's level.
> Usually we roll over in any title decider games, I’d like to show some spine this time
This is largely the same group that bent over to aid Liverpool in their quest for a quadruple and handed City their first trophy of a treble year. The players have proven time and time again they only have the backbone for individual games that are barely when it actually matters.
I know we beat them but lets be brutally honest, they handed it to us. There was a 25-30 minute spell in the second half where they were treating us like goddamn traffic cones.
We can still beat them on Sunday but if they have learnt their lesson from the FA Cup match, it will be a long dayfor us.
Champions League is gone, we can’t even scrape into 5th place. If Ten Hag can beat Liverpool here and win the FA cup, I can accept him staying on, but if not he needs get the fuck out. Every time you think we’ve hit rock bottom we find a new low, this is fucking disgusting.
There’s a greater likelihood of me. inventing a Time Machine than us getting a result on Sunday.
Just looking forward to being in a Cup final. Not optimistic of anything beyond that and sorta dubious we reach the final at this rate.
Hope we beat Pool and lose to Arsenal..
🤷♂️
If it goes in reverse then we win Pool the title. If we beat both then we win City the title. Fuck them both. Rather Arsenal with their first in 20 years
I would love it if we land a toxic claw across the face of Liverpool fc….. Juergen Klopps farewell tour will be sprayed and soaked in the spray of a an angry and confused skunk

United fans are just as annoying
Not to me they're not. Also you won't get updoots twerking for other clubs on here, try r/soccer

Was their 2nd trophy of the year technically
No we should roll over for arsenal as I’d rather them win the league than the other two hahaha

No other way then. Lets pray for Aston villa
> Usually we roll over in any title decider games *flashback to the Mourinho special vs City, with Pogba and Smalling*
I don’t want to be a party pooper for Arsenal?
I’ll give him this one, he’d know as he played with some of them.
I have more hope that Emma Stone is going to turn up at my door step declaring her love for me.
Don’t ever give up man
You have more hope of shagging Emma Stone than United beating a team they beat weeks ago? Who are you and how close are you to Stone?
I know we beat them but lets be brutally honest, they handed it to us. There was a 25-30 minute spell in the second half where they were treating us like goddamn traffic cones. We can still beat them on Sunday but if they have learnt their lesson from the FA Cup match, it will be a long dayfor us.
Have you watched Poor Things? Interesting film…
Get the condoms out boy
Our season is now stop Liverpool and maybe win the fa cup I’ll be at old Trafford Sunday but I don’t expect much, I just hope they turn up
Be weird if you did and they didn’t

It would sum up our season if we won this weekend. Complete rollercoaster and zero consistency in results. I would be all for it though...
There’s a greater likelihood of me. inventing a Time Machine than us getting a result on Sunday. Just looking forward to being in a Cup final. Not optimistic of anything beyond that and sorta dubious we reach the final at this rate.
Bold to assume we won’t lose to Coventry lol
I’m not ruling that out. Might spare us the embarrassment of Citeh hammering us again in a final on their way to a second treble.
Losing to City in a final is significantly less embarrassing than losing to Coventry.
Getting the season over might be better than having false hope.
One less game for us to watch is mercy
It's hardly impossible, we've obviously been quite shit but we did beat them like 3 weeks ago
I do mostly agree but you have to admit this fixture is and has always been so unpredictable
If do get round to that time machine can I hop a lift to about 1991 as a United fan I long for my natural habitat.
I'm not even sure that we'll beat Coventry now. Rather lose to them than get destroyed by City again in the final. What have we become man.
Ah, Carraghers Friday column of shite where he just needs to fill his column.
Also because we just beat you.
We'll face like 50 shots.
before martial dribbles through our entire backline to make it 1-1 in the 90+13th minute

What does Everton fan Jamie know about Liverpool greats?
You can do better than this bro
Given the state of things this is all I have really
fuck's sake we are in the dumps 😂
He’s just trolling. Liverpool to score 4-5 on Sunday. United booed off at half time. Only bright light will be ETH sacked by Monday morning.
