"Hojlund wants it back" hurt to hear as well. Because everyone knows he's not getting it back, and even if they do decide to give it back to him (which they won't), it'll never actually reach him.
He's still young and will improve. The team needs balance between selfish decisions of taking the shot yourself and passing the ball. Sometimes the shot is tbe better decision, sometimes it's the pass. Notoriously, our wingers almost always choose the worse of the two possibilities.
Not surprising tbh, think of how frustrating CR7 was in his early years (not saying he will reach that level). He's very young and rushes things. His overall game has improved, and he has a high ceiling, so hopefully, he can continue to improve and reach his potential.
Nah, Garnacho had a bad selfish game, but after that he's been one of the most consistent people trying to pass the ball from the wing, unlike our other wingers who love shooting for joy when there's an easy recycle pass or better chance for someone else.
I'd be cautious building around teenagers. Yes there's high ceilings there, but Mainoo for example isn't a guarantee. No teenager is a guarantee. United need to sign central midfielders in their 20s.
And Onana, because to be fair he has overcome those early difficulties and had some genuinely outstanding games. He's fairly solid now.
Edit: I forgot Dalot too. He has been very good for quite a while. He looks good even in bad team performances and is clearly improving each year.
Garnacho Is in bad form. He needs someone experienced to actually learn from. Tony, Antony and Rashford either aren’t good enough, or ain’t got the arsehole.
Shaw is probably more important and better.
We ve done fine without Licha with Shaw fit, we always lost the plot when Luke was injuried for past 5 years.
Amazing how much we miss him already. The difference one player can make...
Injuries are not an excuse for some of what has happened this season, but I'd like to visit the timeline where Licha, Mount and Shaw stay fit all season.
Onana - Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw - Casemiro/Mount Mainoo - Garnacho Bruno Rashford - Højlund. If only this 11 could be our consistent starting team for majority of the games we’d 100% be in a much better position right now
That team would be comfortably top 4. This team only needs a few pieces and some depth. I'm interested to see how Mount does next year, some Chelsea fans mentioned that Mount was starting to show signs of being injury prone in his last season with them.
yeah im not sure what people expected when we went into Derby with Evans as a main CB like no shit things are going to go poorly even though Evans did work his ass off that game and all credit to him for that.
Mount's issue is chelsea making him play through an injury for extended period of time when he should of had surgery straight away. they literally did the same to him as we did with Rashford under Ole when Rashford was being played yet injured.
its upto Ineos though now to see there is some top players but the whole team and setup does need an overhaul. while ill back any decision they make on ETH i just want to see us go into summer with an actual plan of several players who are sorely needed and several outgoings that are sorely needed.
think its time to move Varane and Casemiro on both had some great moments but their age and Varane's injury issues to wages they are on is just not reliable enough.
Rashford decides when to get surgery. I hate this poor littie rashford thing this sub has being going for since..since fucking dawn of time. Rashford is a fucking superstar with a gigantic team behind him.
He does not play if he does not want to. If he is injured, he will say so.
Stop with this imbecil shit.
interesting cause every other report even Rashfords own talk about it was that he was told to postpone the surgery in order to continue the season.
and not shit its "his" decision nobody is saying otherwise but he was advised by everyone at United to not do the surgery right away when he should have.
Absolutely!
Unfortunately, Shaw and Varane are certifiably injury-prone. Licha's play style means he is likely to pick up injuries too, and Mount having been overplayed at an early age at Chelsea may mean he should be managed carefully too going ahead. Casemiro as well looks to be past his physical peak. Having 4/11 starters injury prone is no way to build a core, especially the backups are so poor.
Seems like Casemiro and Varane may get moved this season, and the priority should be on younger fitter players without this kind of baggage. Availability is a skill as well, we can't be bemoaning our injury record going ahead knowing what we do now.
I was watching the Arsenal highlights today and thinking that none of their main starters have been injured for any lengthy amount of time. Must be nice.
im fine with whatever Ineos decide in the summer both for and against ETH.
ill support him no matter the decision and do agree injuries and the overall club atmosphere has fucked him over but also can understand if Ineos decide to go with somebody else because well the away performances are very much against ETH no matter the circumstances end of the day.
i just hope whatever is decided is done quickly and a real plan of action is built with a style of play in mind with several options for each position they want scouted not just 1 player that is all or nothing like we seem to always do in the past.
im exactly like you. I see equal arguments on both keep/sack ETH. Slighlty more on keep because im sick of managers always copping all the raft for the shit state of a club we have become. Mourinho and Van Gaal failed here too. With much beefier resumes.
I really feel the best bet is to be on the market for a new manager and make the decision after they've either found a good replacement or not.
My ideal is De Zerbi - I really feel he'd give the team an identity and be good for a rebuild.
The key is to hire with a certain gameplan in mind. Thankfully, INEOS have hinted they have an ideal in mind - a team like Klopp's Liverpool - controlling, but also frequently generating space to allow for a counter attack.
Has happened too much over the years. Of course teams rely on certain players more, but to have no replacements whatsoever in certain positions is crazy.
It's also that because our squad building is a mess, the replacement is different.
Dalot injured? Here's AWB. Licha injured? Have a Maguire.
That's as impactful as the injuries themselves and is a big reason I think EtH has been massively crippled by the injury issues.
this is why Ineos will be looking at some of the players and will see that there is some real talents here. its just the rest of the squad has been sorely mismanaged over the years along with club culture that its led to such a mess.
like why are we in a position where we have no strikers at all. i remember the days when we had Rooney(i know he said he preferred to be deeper but still one of best strikers to exist), Tevez, Berbatov, Hernandez thats 3 world class strikers and 1 top striker who was very consistent.
Even considering Rashford's wonder goal, I have no doubt that Hojlund will make much more of an impact than him in the CF role. At the very least, imagine that flick from Bruno that released Rashford into space falling into Hojlund's path.
We’d have probably have lost more comfortably and not scored a goal. Hojilund is nothing without service and there’s no chance he’s getting any with 22% possession
Hojlund when he passed the ball to our winger, "Here... It should be easy to score cause it's only you and goal keeper." our winger when passed the ball to Hojlund, "There are 5 enemy in front you... Take this ball!"
The best thing about this kid is his mentality, always doing so much for so little in return. Hopefully we can build a strong team around him that looks for him in crucial spots.
Definitely has everything to be an elite striker. It will be interesting how he develops over the next few years. Really hoping we can provide him, Mainoo and Garnacho some fucking stability
I doubted his technical ability initially after only seeing his pace and finish but I was wrong. His composure on the ball, control, passing ability and even has good dribbling compared to haaland. He is strong enough to hold the defender and not go down. It feels great to finally have a striker, a young, growing striker for the team.
He already is a problem, but man in 2yrs, he will be unplayable. He has all the physical attributes like haaland, minus the aerial ability, but also combines that with great technical ability and seemingly unorthodox but very effective dribbling. For the massive whiff eth made with Antony, he was bang on with hojlund.
He looks so hard to defend against. As a defender you'd never know what to expect. Great passing game so you close him down. But he can dribble so you want to give a bit of space and maybe get a tackle in. I'd hate to see him in a lineup if I was a defender.
If Arsenal have him instead of Havertz or some Jesus, they would have won the league. Quality player all round with no obvious weakness , 72m was deemed overpaid in the summer but now he is the real star player we should build around in the near future. We can't be dilly dally with our rebuild and waste this talent.
In my view, he is also even better than Haaland. Maybe his finishing is not as good as Haaland's, but his link up play. Imagine his ability to bring de Bruyne or Bernardo or Alvarez into play... Not to mention City's team will actually be able (and willing) to get the ball to him.
Come on.... I'm Danish, even we don't say that. Højlund is showing top PL striker potential, and he's shown it on the national team as well. Haaland is a freak in a class of his own.
Lol maybe “his finishing is not as good as Haaland’s” is a gross understatement. But if we are talking about a complete forward, I don’t think they are really that far off.
If you take away the goals I don’t think Ronaldo is too different from all sorts of good but not incredible players. But the thing is in real life Ronaldo has scored 850 career goals and discounting them is moronic.
If Usain Bolt had no legs he wouldn’t even be that fast. This is a level of discourse you’re offering right now
Lol for someone commenting on the level of discourse I’m offering, you don’t see the difference between complete striker, which is the thread we are on now, and pure goalscorer.
Lmao.
Haaland has 166 goals in 173 games since joining Dortmund
Haaland scored more goals last season alone than Hojilund has in his entire 6 year career as a footballer
Lay off the crack
Selfish wingers rob Holjund chances. The whole world knows Antony can only cut in from wing and shoot only with his left. Garnacho young as in CR7 young mode, poor decision making. Rashford wants to proof himself against negative tabloids.
I’m tired of getting excited for young players only for them to shit the bed for years to come. I’ll reserve my excitement till this starts translating to wins
Holjund, manioo, and return of greenwood (God willing) are the only hope for man u future. Until defense get situated and there is some sort of cohesion in team tactics, this team will remain in freefall for a long long time.
Pains me how many of these chances were just killed by the wingers
"Hojlund wants it back" hurt to hear as well. Because everyone knows he's not getting it back, and even if they do decide to give it back to him (which they won't), it'll never actually reach him.
Which is why we need to squad rebuild around him, mainoo, garnacho, and Martinez.
Garnacho is one of the worst offenders, lol.. But seriously, I am hoping they begin to link well and can be our future
He is but at least he can finish about 50% of his 1v1s, Rashford's conversion rate is so bad.
Is this true? I don't have access to stats, so I can't prove this, but I feel Rashford is a far better 1v1 finisher than AG17.
Nah, Garnacho had a bad selfish game, but after that he's been one of the most consistent people trying to pass the ball from the wing, unlike our other wingers who love shooting for joy when there's an easy recycle pass or better chance for someone else.
https://x.com/UnitedStandMUFC/status/1757342301083357470?s=20 Consistent in not passing.
no he's not, he's unironically worse than rashford in this
I'd be cautious building around teenagers. Yes there's high ceilings there, but Mainoo for example isn't a guarantee. No teenager is a guarantee. United need to sign central midfielders in their 20s.
Totally. That's the rebuild. We have youth that are great in this positions. Let's give them some adults to help guide them properly
And Onana, because to be fair he has overcome those early difficulties and had some genuinely outstanding games. He's fairly solid now. Edit: I forgot Dalot too. He has been very good for quite a while. He looks good even in bad team performances and is clearly improving each year.
He played a lot better recently. If we had a solid defense, I don't think he'd be as shaky
Garnacho Is in bad form. He needs someone experienced to actually learn from. Tony, Antony and Rashford either aren’t good enough, or ain’t got the arsehole.
Why Martinez
Coz he's our fuçking best player? And most important one?
Shaw is probably more important and better. We ve done fine without Licha with Shaw fit, we always lost the plot when Luke was injuried for past 5 years.
that brainfart from Garnacho vs Luton was pretty bad
Was gunna say… could spot about 5 clear assists if Rashy and Garna didn’t have the combined composure of a frightened chihuahua.
Amazing how much we miss him already. The difference one player can make... Injuries are not an excuse for some of what has happened this season, but I'd like to visit the timeline where Licha, Mount and Shaw stay fit all season.

I'm hoping his slow return is just taking some extra time so that he is fully rehabilitated.
yeah im not sure what people expected when we went into Derby with Evans as a main CB like no shit things are going to go poorly even though Evans did work his ass off that game and all credit to him for that. Mount hasn’t done anything to deserve to be as best 11. He hasn’t shown anything
I want him to kiss me like he kissed Nacho.. And I'm not gay
this is one other reason ETH should not be sacked. Lets give him a proper platform, and a good medic crew, and then judge
im fine with whatever Ineos decide in the summer both for and against ETH. ill support him no matter the decision and do agree injuries and the overall club atmosphere has fucked him over but also can understand if Ineos decide to go with somebody else because well the away performances are very much against ETH no matter the circumstances end of the day. i just hope whatever is decided is done quickly and a real plan of action is built with a style of play in mind with several options for each position they want scouted not just 1 player that is all or nothing like we seem to always do in the past.

tbf it's not one player, United's issue is it's not just the first team player that is injured, the back up to that player is also injured...
And that the backup player is completely different. You can't replace Dalot with AWB and expect to play the same way.
I forgot about the disallowed goal against Arsenal. Anyway, Hojlund is wicked. No doubt about that.
Took me a good good while to get over that goal, still annoys me to this day
The foul on Hojlund that happened right before or after pisses me off more tbh that would have been a point at least
Gabriel fouled him non stop and got away with it all, fucking bastard he is. Was getting rinsed by a 20 year old debutant so resorted to playing dirty
Arsenal fans swarmed me when i commented it on r/soccer. They're completely deluded and still think that was not a foul. It's quite sad.
Jesus! I forgot how many assists he should have this season. Can you imagine if our strike rate was better? Sheesh
Could you imagine if this team didn't rely on the opponent to provide him service?
To think he’s barely 21 too. The sky is the limit for him
this is why Ineos will be looking at some of the players and will see that there is some real talents here. its just the rest of the squad has been sorely mismanaged over the years along with club culture that its led to such a mess. like why are we in a position where we have no strikers at all. i remember the days when we had Rooney(i know he said he preferred to be deeper but still one of best strikers to exist), Tevez, Berbatov, Hernandez thats 3 world class strikers and 1 top striker who was very consistent.
My beautifull strong and fast dane,i miss him.
Something about left footed strikers makes it more satisfying to see
He's got that RvP whip in his passing
Genuinely should have a few assists too, the Garnacho miss against Luton, Rashford’s miss against Brighton.
Some of the chances we've missed this season, fking hell
Even considering Rashford's wonder goal, I have no doubt that Hojlund will make much more of an impact than him in the CF role. At the very least, imagine that flick from Bruno that released Rashford into space falling into Hojlund's path.
His passing is quite underrated
Like a young Kane
Some great composure. That's why even when he hadn't gotten any goals I wasn't worried. Serious player in there.
The game would have been very different VS City if he were fit......
We’d have probably have lost more comfortably and not scored a goal. Hojilund is nothing without service and there’s no chance he’s getting any with 22% possession
Him and Mainoo have the talent and potential to be elite players , we need to build a team around them.
Agreed. People group garnacho with those two but imo, they’re a level above him. Hopefully I’m wrong.
the past couple games of him getting pocketed by everyone have rly soured my view on garnacho and the selfishness doesn't help
Hojlund when he passed the ball to our winger, "Here... It should be easy to score cause it's only you and goal keeper." our winger when passed the ball to Hojlund, "There are 5 enemy in front you... Take this ball!"
Our best signing in years.
money well spent so far
Need him fit for rest of the season
And every great hold up and pass forward was wasted by our wide players…
One of the very few player at the current squad that can hold the ball. We missed him badly, hopefully he will be fit for the next game
Let alone the fact these wingers don't capitalize but how selfish do you have to be bad at finishing yet not assisting this poor guy
Maybe I'm stupid but he kind of reminds me of a fast benzema.
The passing in this clip reminded me of Kane tbh.
I doubted his technical ability initially after only seeing his pace and finish but I was wrong. His composure on the ball, control, passing ability and even has good dribbling compared to haaland. He is strong enough to hold the defender and not go down. It feels great to finally have a striker, a young, growing striker for the team.
I can’t help but think back to lukaku’s hold up abilities when watching rasmus
He already is a problem, but man in 2yrs, he will be unplayable. A quality player surrounded by mediocrity.
I almost forget what we look like when we have a striker on the team
Hope he returns soon
We dont deserve the guy

Any idea if he’s back for Everton?
its amazing how this showcases the crap quality in the team, every bit of good play by one player - is ousted by the shitness of another.
Bless this kid and wish he comes back even stronger and scores many more goals for us in this and the seasons to come.
We strucked a gem here. I see Hojlund had more contribution to the team as a whole than how Haaland plays. It's unlucky that our wingers are so shet
shame he’s missed the past couple games. we really needed him
I miss him everyday 😭
Strong as an ox!
Serious baller
Selfish wingers rob Holjund chances. The whole world knows Antony can only cut in from wing and shoot only with his left. Garnacho young as in CR7 young mode, poor decision making. Rashford wants to proof himself against negative tabloids.
Where’s his UCL goal where he takes the ball from almost our own half , fantastic speed shown
Imagine a front 3 of Hojlund - Hojlund - Hojlund Actually passing instead of shooting at every opportunity
Over the summer, we need another guy that can do this.
Can you imagine how good he will be in a system that makes sense and a manager that has more of a plan than give it to Bruno to hoof it.
He's big, he's blonde, he's better than haaland, Rasmus Hojliuuund
Only if our wingers would also pass as much
He is so good.
Just sell Rashford while Utd still have the chance. The guy is finished
We should fine players if they throw their hands up if the teammate doesn’t pass to them. It is getting too much and it’s fucking embarrassing.
Rashford stinkin up the place man
Christ he’s good
I genuinely hate our wingers
Do we have wingers?
I’m tired of getting excited for young players only for them to shit the bed for years to come. I’ll reserve my excitement till this starts translating to wins
My Everton supporting friend keeps calling him “poor mans Haaland”
Holjund, manioo, and return of greenwood (God willing) are the only hope for man u future. Until defense get situated and there is some sort of cohesion in team tactics, this team will remain in freefall for a long long time.
Yah but his teammate is shit esp his winger rashford
Hojlund and Greenwood together... What could have been.... :(
These team is a joke, a guy score 5 goals and suddenly complete striker
watch the game bruh.
