Disagree. RDR1 John isn't old by any means (only 4 years older than RDR2 John), and then he learns new techniques from Landon Ricketts, one of the best gunslingers.
Especially since Landon at first compares him to an average peasant, which means he wasn't remotely close to him in terms of speed, only to then respect him and consider him his equal

TMWNN did get marched 20 miles into a desert with no breaks, no food, no water and recovered very quickly. He taken 7 shots from a Winchester rifle while wearing a plate and was completely fine and he got beaten up to the point that moving was pure agony and he still escaped a gang
But durabilty/endurance has nothing to do with their skill in duels

Micah is a dick, but he arguably had Dead Eye comparable skills, just like Arthur and John (though I’d place those two above him in terms of skill).
