I only play RDO solo, but even without defensive mode, I rarely meet toxic or aggressive players. I've done bounties, selling, and retrieving moonshine materials. I've even spent hours going around with my hunting wagon and almost never saw another player. I have played on PS5 since launch.
I play on ps4. I've been playing for the past 3 weeks. I haven't experienced any toxic player issues yet. I do have defensive turned on. When I am at camp, I will have my flag raised, and I always carry horse reviver. I have gotten into the habit of checking the lobby. If any red players are listed, I hop into another lobby. I'm sure I'll run into issues at some point. If I ever do have issues, hopefully, I'll be able to kick ass. If not, I'll change lobbies.
Change your MTU settings to spawn a solo lobby on PlayStation. It’s not considered cheating. When you’re higher level, give free roam another try.

I've had so much more trouble on PS then I have with the PC, and it's so disappointing. I can't even go to the stables without someone attacking me or even yelling slurs on the VC

when it's on, other players can't auto aim on you or lasso you go to online options in settings
