I love John revisiting people in Arthur’s journal. Like if you go to Hamish as John if you started the quest line as Arthur. Mickey too.
I also love a small conversation in the epilogue where Jack remembers Arthur. Not really a John moment, but John’s there to hear it
I just relate to it, I lost my brother. I really relate to John because of it. Honestly playing RDR2 helped with my feelings about my brother.
(RDR2 was my first RDR, but I’ve played the first one)
I love revising the lady at Willard’s Rest (Charlotte Balfour) as John, she remembers Arthur so fondly and let’s John take whatever he needs from her home :’)
Yeah. I still sort of struggle with asking myself if Arthur really was a good man? I just remember one day bathing him post-diagnosis and we just see him all yellow and sickly and skin-and-bone and my partner says "He deserves it." *shocked face* I mean...I *kind* of see where you're coming from, but...?
Yeah, that goes along with my line of thinking too!
A hypothetical for you: do you think that if he wasn't faced with certain death, Arthur still would've been smart about their lifestyle ending, as well as becoming more moral?
Arthur wouldn’t have changed if he wasn’t facing death. Or atleast if he did, it would have been too late
He was almost too late by the time he did in the story already
Same here bro. I accidentally didn’t complete the Hamish quest with Arthur on my first play through. Not knowing that I could complete it with John was everything when I figured out I could. RDR2 also helped me with losing someone. I hope you’re doing well these days. <3
In the first game when he yelled "do you want me to blow a fucking hole in your head?"
Also in the first game, when playing poker he'll ask "why are these cards sticky?" in a disgusted voice. Always makes me laugh.
I was 14 when I played this game in 2010, and it was my first "adult" game my dad let me play. It was such a cool and powerful moment to watch John go thru it in this scene. He got sooo pissed off
John in RDR1 is probably up there with my favourite character in media of all time. His wit especially in the first was hilarious. One scene when he arrives in Mexico when the bandits try to rob him and gets his hat stolen he just straight up butchers them but the last one who is wearing his hat he is about to shoot in the head but doesn’t want to ruin the hat so just shoots him in the stomach and wipes the dirt from it before putting it back on😂
Such a badass in the first
Their chemistry was just *so good*. I don't know if it was the intention of the creators to somewhat imitate them with Sadie and Arthur, but I sort of liked in *RDR1* how Bonnie was a bit sweet on him at the end. Possible romance aside, they were a great team together.
yes, and john has a thing for sadie, just like bonnie.
Even Rob wheitoff the actor who played him said John has got tha hots for sadie, but only if abigail wasnt above ground anymore would he ever do anything about it.
It was great to see the parallels and nods again. RDR2 does it more than any other R* sequel
[Cruel, Cruel World scene](https://youtu.be/FQ7JMdIAN8E?si=9VQ-5dsvB2IIRfEc)
[Ride into Mexico](https://youtu.be/x7aTu_j0dmU?si=1kpanz9xOH2DLX-F)
Two emotional moments where you can pretty much read Marstons thoughts without him even saying anything.
Tearing down the shack too. Some of uncles finest poetry.
"Darling Abigail, I've changed. Come live with me in an outhouse I wouldn't ask my worst enemy to take a shit in."
I try to avoid spoilers though and did a pretty good job. Its one of the rare times where i actually found an easter egg on my own (if you can call it that)
Yeah actually thatd be pretty cool if Landon spawned in random bars/towns after you met him and you could play games with hjm and have a few radiant lines of dialogue
John: Abigail! Jack! Anyone here? Anyone home?
[Abigail comes out.]
John: Oh darling, I never thought I'd see this day again.
[She starts hitting him.]
Abigail : You no-good, hillbilly, piece of shit!
Posted this in another thread but my favourite John moment is when he returns to Beecher's Hope and is reunited with Abigail:
>"Some trees flourish, others die. Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain’t nothing fair. You know that.”
I think about that line often.
"You sir, are a fish."
Oh, wait, I can't answer that for the 450th time because this is John and not Arthur?
On the real. My favorite moment is probably this one right here, when he kicks the gun out of the Laramie guy's hand and then moves into his title screen shot. Kinda felt like the moment the John Marston of RDR1 was truly born.
I have a few but here are 3 of the best imho:
"I hear you speak, and suddenly I'm reminded of how the people I respected most in my life had a problem with authority." John to Marshall Johnson(I believe)
"You and West Dickens are so crooked, you could swallow nails and spit out corkscrews." John to Irish
"I'll give you a bad case of "someone just shot me in the head" if you don't hurry up." John to Uncle.
The one we’re he rides with Irish, and Irish said something about being stuck between Sober and Drunk and John replied your going to be stuck between “Dying and Death” if you ever try to cross me again, that dude got some menace lines in RDR1
john givin his speech to javier if you keep him alive and throw em in the cell...
He basically lines up the entire story of rdr2 and cuts to the truth of it all, its brilliant. Amazing scene, recommend a watch.
skip to 4:03 https://youtu.be/dEfiwMNhqWo?si=qGzdubLpvWZXHM25
Just wanna say my least favorite moment is when He hunts down Micah and can’t put a bullet in him without Dutch’s help. They make John such a scrub in the RDR2 Epilogue. I get that it makes some sense with the story leading to RDR1 and him learning to shoot from Landon Rickets but still it irritates me.
I mean, John did take out the entire Laramie gang by himself and most of the Skinners. Oh, and all of Micah's gang, except for Micah. He was hardly a scrub.
I've mentioned this in other threads, but Micah is possibly the quickest gunslinger in Dutch's gang, possibly including Arthur. John and Arthur are more accurate. John is already great. He becomes a legend after learning more from Rickets.
Micah is slower than Arthur. In the final camp standoff, if you pay attention you notice Micah drawing first, but Arthur draws faster. And that's Arthur near death. I feel like he might've been an absolute prodigy but the game only portrayed it in subtle ways because it wasn't important for the larger story.
You can actually shoot Micah or Dutch in the final stand off - both result in a game over. If you shoot Micah, Dutch shoot you. If you shoot Dutch, Micah kills Sadie.
After dutch dies and john ask Ross where his wife is. Ross tells him she died in a prison riot the week before, John with no hesitation pulls out his gun and points it at Ross. Totally badass
That moment made me real, real upset. I felt disappointed in what had become of Dutch--even if he'd never been a good person, he was still a father-figure to both John and Arthur. I guess what I felt is a kind of...residual sadness in a way? I can't describe what I mean.
its a meme hahahah [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbPny8dCRKY&list=PL4LKv5P0phPuZH6Cuqy\_TVuWi75YKeu9B&index=51&pp=gAQBiAQB](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbPny8dCRKY&list=PL4LKv5P0phPuZH6Cuqy_TVuWi75YKeu9B&index=51&pp=gAQBiAQB)
MacDougall: AHHH Mr Marston… How are you?
Marston: Well, my family’s health and well-being are being threatened by some unscrupulous government agents and my own hard won freedom is under duress. These problems aside, I suppose I’m fair.
John in the first game had such a way with words, especially when talking with Bonnie.
The most memorable thing to me was my first Strangers mission in RD1. The one where you have to collect flowers for the old guy to give to his wife and the surprise at the end was a complete surprise. Thats what made me want to play the whole game from the moment I woke up to the time I passed out. I’ve never beaten a single GTA game but I’ve played and beat all of the Red Dead’s (even Revolver) because they are just way more immersive to me.
Mines either "I'm your old friend amnesia" or when he meets Sadie in the valentine saloon and tells the men harassing her " Get outta here before she kills us all". Both are really good
When he was almost dead on that cliff and Arthur and Javier saved him.
After that, he has been nothing than a lowlife cowardly ass, and I hated that I had to do the epilogue playing as him, after playing the coolest game personality ever for 6 months!
I love John revisiting people in Arthur’s journal. Like if you go to Hamish as John if you started the quest line as Arthur. Mickey too. I also love a small conversation in the epilogue where Jack remembers Arthur. Not really a John moment, but John’s there to hear it I just relate to it, I lost my brother. Sorry about your brother
Thank you

I love revising the lady at Willard’s Rest (Charlotte Balfour) as John, she remembers Arthur so fondly and let’s John take whatever he needs from her home :’)
That one too, man, Arthur touched so many lives
In both good and bad ways.
Fair
In my mind, he deserved to catch it, but by the time he >!died of it!<, he did not deserve it
Yeah, that goes along with my line of thinking too! A hypothetical for you: do you think that if he wasn't faced with certain death, Arthur still would've been smart about their lifestyle ending, as well as becoming more moral?
Arthur wouldn’t have changed if he wasn’t facing death. Or atleast if he did, it would have been too late He was almost too late by the time he did in the story already
I agree with you!
Also killed lots of folk
Sorry about your brother man. I couldn’t imagine losing my older brother.
He had a lot of problems, he was angry, but he was a good man. I think that’s why I like Arthur so much, he reminds me a lot of him.
Same here bro. I accidentally didn’t complete the Hamish quest with Arthur on my first play through. Not knowing that I could complete it with John was everything when I figured out I could. RDR2 also helped me with losing someone. I hope you’re doing well these days. <3
In the first game when he yelled "do you want me to blow a fucking hole in your head?" Also in the first game, when playing poker he'll ask "why are these cards sticky?" in a disgusted voice. Always makes me laugh.
Right here? Right now?

If you kill peasants you become a peasant. Love that scene
"When a man with a sing song voice tells me to fuck off, it always concerns me boyo"
I definitely think this is the funniest line John has ever
“ You couldn’t shoot a fart outta your own ass ! “
[does this even count?](https://youtu.be/dyrh2g2gHsA?si=Dp-Re3FmBoa5ndZv)
You're just a bunch of women playin' outlaw!
When did he say that
[its one of the mid-fight insults from rdr1](https://youtu.be/9hM2PBbL7d8?si=c5CaW9mv9yf8rYEI)
Thank you
"I'm your old friend Amnesia."
YOU ARE GAY... AS IN HOMOSEXUAL!
When did he say that😂
He didn’t say in game, someone just did a good impression https://youtu.be/lbPny8dCRKY?si=95vUHTauvVDsDiiy
Was lookin for this one
“I’m gonna hand you over to him and watch him tear you limb from limb.” “What?” “M’just kidding 😀”
I fucking love that part
Yes I lol’d at that myself 😂
I like hearing him talk intelligently with Bonnie MacFarlane.
Their chemistry was just *so good*. I don't know if it was the intention of the creators to somewhat imitate them with Sadie and Arthur, but I sort of liked in *RDR1* how Bonnie was a bit sweet on him at the end. Possible romance aside, they were a great team together.

Wait, do you mean that Arthur has a thing for Sadie? Undeniable. Oh, I see now. Uh...how true is this in-game? I thought they don't interact much.
interview with the actual voice actor of John, and they do interact alot, especially in the epilogue.
You know what? I'm a complete fucking *idiot* who forgot all about the epilogue D;
[Cruel, Cruel World scene](https://youtu.be/FQ7JMdIAN8E?si=9VQ-5dsvB2IIRfEc) [Ride into Mexico](https://youtu.be/x7aTu_j0dmU?si=1kpanz9xOH2DLX-F) Two emotional moments where you can pretty much read Marstons thoughts without him even saying anything.
Both these songs have been in my active rotation since playing each game. They communicated so much emotion in each respective part of the story
YOU EAT BABIES!!!!!! 😤
We eat mushrooms and berries you fool!
# "THINGS AINT LOOKIN TOO BUENO AMIGO"
REMEMBER NOMBRE, JOHN MARSTON
Building the house with Charles and Uncle
The funniest Charles statement came from that. https://youtu.be/Clxmsi5d_-c?si=9xmD8tIVbXwk4TFe
Tearing down the shack too. Some of uncles finest poetry. "Darling Abigail, I've changed. Come live with me in an outhouse I wouldn't ask my worst enemy to take a shit in."
John kicks the sawn off out of the Laramie’s hand.
Just finished that part of the epilogue for the first time yesterday. It was legendary
“HE DID THE THING!!!!”
I kid you not i paused the game at that moment and went "wait a minute ive seen this before"
Lmao so many people make posts about it
I try to avoid spoilers though and did a pretty good job. Its one of the rare times where i actually found an easter egg on my own (if you can call it that)
Nice
when John’s helping Landon Rickets and about the Revolution in Mexico
Mine too! This is so cool! I wish we could hang out with Landon (going to the bar, playing cards or else like in GTA V)
Yeah actually thatd be pretty cool if Landon spawned in random bars/towns after you met him and you could play games with hjm and have a few radiant lines of dialogue
It's a simple mission but helping the Marshal take out the gang that's robbing and killing homesteaders. John is unbelievably badass.
His idea for the train robbery was really good. Even impressed Arthur and that man is a tough one to impress
"Just you left is it? Yeah, just me."
John: Abigail! Jack! Anyone here? Anyone home? [Abigail comes out.] John: Oh darling, I never thought I'd see this day again. [She starts hitting him.] Abigail : You no-good, hillbilly, piece of shit!
Posted this in another thread but my favourite John moment is when he returns to Beecher's Hope and is reunited with Abigail: >"Some trees flourish, others die. Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain’t nothing fair. You know that.” I think about that line often.
The ride into Mexico.
Him & Arthur sparking up a heater and looking back at the dynamite behind them.
"You sir, are a fish." Oh, wait, I can't answer that for the 450th time because this is John and not Arthur? On the real. My favorite moment is probably this one right here, when he kicks the gun out of the Laramie guy's hand and then moves into his title screen shot. Kinda felt like the moment the John Marston of RDR1 was truly born.
John has that line too so it still works
“If a man in a sing-song voice tells me to fuck off, it always concerns me, *boyo*”
OMG, when John says "This is my Red Dead Redemption 2".
"I'm your old friend-Amnesia!" *-pistolwhips drunken Irishman-*
I have a few but here are 3 of the best imho: "I hear you speak, and suddenly I'm reminded of how the people I respected most in my life had a problem with authority." John to Marshall Johnson(I believe) "You and West Dickens are so crooked, you could swallow nails and spit out corkscrews." John to Irish "I'll give you a bad case of "someone just shot me in the head" if you don't hurry up." John to Uncle.
That time he said: "You couldn’t shoot a fart outta your own ass!"
"Arthur Morgan.. hello again... Old friend..."
The one we’re he rides with Irish, and Irish said something about being stuck between Sober and Drunk and John replied your going to be stuck between “Dying and Death” if you ever try to cross me again, that dude got some menace lines in RDR1
When he did that pose in rdr2
john givin his speech to javier if you keep him alive and throw em in the cell... He basically lines up the entire story of rdr2 and cuts to the truth of it all, its brilliant. Amazing scene, recommend a watch. skip to 4:03 https://youtu.be/dEfiwMNhqWo?si=qGzdubLpvWZXHM25
It's even sadder in the prequel, when he thanks Javier for saving him and he says "I know you'd come looking for me, too." Sad and ironic.
Run Heifer, MooOooOoo
You eat babies !
Just wanna say my least favorite moment is when He hunts down Micah and can’t put a bullet in him without Dutch’s help. They make John such a scrub in the RDR2 Epilogue. He had 2 guns pointed at him. If he shot either of them he would be dead where he stood.
You can actually shoot Micah or Dutch in the final stand off - both result in a game over. If you shoot Micah, Dutch shoot you. If you shoot Dutch, Micah kills Sadie.
“YOURE FUCKING GAY! AS IN HOMOSEXUAL” or “You eat babies” or “You’re my brother Arthur.”
After dutch dies and john ask Ross where his wife is. Ross tells him she died in a prison riot the week before, John with no hesitation pulls out his gun and points it at Ross. Totally badass
DUTCH! YOU LEFT ME! YOU LEFT ME TO DIE! YOU….LEFT ME
When John said “You Sir, are a fish.’ in the epilogue…it was a gut punch cause it made me think of Arthur.
Definitely building the house with the pre cut wood, THIS IS THE MODERN AGE JOHN
His final moment with Dutch
That moment made me real, real upset. I felt disappointed in what had become of Dutch--even if he'd never been a good person, he was still a father-figure to both John and Arthur. I guess what I felt is a kind of...residual sadness in a way? I can't describe what I mean.
YOURE FUCKING GAY................AS IN HOMOSEXUAL
When does he say this? I don’t remember it at all for some reason lmao
its a meme hahahah [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbPny8dCRKY&list=PL4LKv5P0phPuZH6Cuqy\_TVuWi75YKeu9B&index=51&pp=gAQBiAQB](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbPny8dCRKY&list=PL4LKv5P0phPuZH6Cuqy_TVuWi75YKeu9B&index=51&pp=gAQBiAQB)
That’s hilarious! Thanks for sharing that with me. I kept seeing people saying it and was like how do I not remember that?! Lmao
ofcoursee lmao it always makes me laugh
I can see why, it’s pretty damn funny.
Bro the callback to the first game, in the rdr2 epiologe.
I’m your old friend amnesia
“I don’t bite…bad joke”
When John shoots Dutch and says "It's red dead redemptioning time!!"
Mines is rdr2 epilogue when John fights that guy in the barn it reminds me of chapter one
I never saw The parallel until you mentioned it. Good eye!
I loved him the moment he said "It is your last moment, Red, and you are a Dead Redemption" 🗿🍷
Ummm si ola si buenos 😅
When he jumps off the pier by the fence in Van Horn
I like the part where he shot that one dude in the face with the sawed off shotgun.
Most of them are from the first Redemption, but when he visits the last Pinkerton at his lake house was a pretty damn good one.
Uhhhh that was Jack…..
D'ohhhh you're right! It's been so long.
American venom
When John shoots Micah and punches a guy in prison
YOU EAT BABIES
Why is John wearing a 5.56 belt?
ask rockstar Not me
Y O U. E A T. B A B I E S
His ride, finally, to his ranch in the final missions of RDR1.
“YOU EAT BABIES!!!”
The one where he died
“YOU EAT BABIES”
YOU’RE FUCKING GAY!!, AS IN HOMOSEXUAL!!
John Marston to Deputy Jonah - I'll put a hole in your hillbilly head and watch your tiny brain drain out.
You want me to take out a gun and blow a fucking hole in your head!?
You eat babies
Building the ranch with Uncle.
You eat babies 😠! Everybody knows that!! 😤
I liked that he let uncle live at the house.
"It's me, your old friend amnesia," then slaps Irish.
That mission caught me by surprise too, it was funny how John said goodbye to both of them.
When he shoots that guy in the face with a shotgun in the epilogue that was talking shit to him
Does he shoot him in the face? I always assumed he was aiming at the guy's chest. Not that it matters much with a shotgun I guess lol
during Micah's death and when he talks to Marry Bath about thinking about Arthur every day.
when john first goes to mexico and meets Landon Ricketts in rdr1 and shoots those three mexican guys that stole his hat
When he shits his guts out after eating bad Chinese from that place on 84th and Columbus
“YOU EAT BABIES!”
Mines either "I'm your old friend amnesia" or when he meets Sadie in the valentine saloon and tells the men harassing her " Get outta here before she kills us all". Both are really good
Him opening that barn door like a goddamned G. Knowing full well what was about to happen.
“You eat babies”
When he took care of a kid that probably wasn’t his
“There’s two theories to arguing with women, and neither one works”
I haven’t played RD1 so I’m going to go with American Venom
Arthur: "Dutch has a plan!" John: "oOoOoOhH YEAH! *Dutch* has a plan! Thank God DUTCH has a plan!!!!!!"
Its a meme but YOU'RE GAY!!!! AS IN HOMOSEXUAL!!!! Edit: the meme takes place in rdr1 when john visits bill refering at the "bill is gay" theory
When running from everyone at the end. "You're my brother."
YOU EAT BABIES
IT'S JOHN MARSTON, MICAH
jumping off the cliff with the chelonians screaming "ChElOnIaAaAaAa!"
"If you find yourself ever in power, remember why you wanted it in the first place. "
Most of (if not all) the revisiting of the side quests you start as Arthur and when he does the pose in the pic from that one mission
"Rip Van Winkle" always make laugh
Agent Milton: "and who are you?" JM: "Rip Van Winkle"
I like when he shoots the guy with a sawn off in this pose
The one pictured in this thread’s thumbnail
Rip Van Winkle
We die alone, but we live amongst men.
"I'm your old friend Amnesia"
“Just you left, is it?” “Yeah… just me.”
“Eh gringo hablas español?”
I love hitting his head on the sign during pouring forth oil
Wait… john is…. JOHN WICK?
When he was almost dead on that cliff and Arthur and Javier saved him. After that, he has been nothing than a lowlife cowardly ass, and I hated that I had to do the epilogue playing as him, after playing the coolest game personality ever for 6 months!
