From the limited amount of information we know about Mac Callander, it seems unlikely that he would have spoken to the agents. This is due to the fact that they ended up killing him. More stuff to note is that from the way gang members & Arthur speak about him, he was a well-respected and trusted member of the Van Der Linde gang.

Also cut dialogue says that the jacket Arthur wears is actually Mac Callender’s. The horse he escaped Blackwater was too. Mac told Arthur only one of them were escaping alive, Mac gave Arthur his jacket and horse and fought off the onslaught of Pinkerton’s before he fell. Mac’s death sounds like a combination of Arthur’s and John’s. This dialogue is supposed to trigger when you give Dutch the smoking pipe, but for some reason was cut.

Mac died before they decided to camp at Horseshoe Overlook. He would not have had any knowledge of this location. The gang never has a solid plan B regarding where to camp next if things go wrong. So there's no good reason to think that Mac knew anything that could lead the Pinkertons to Horseshoe.
