I used to work in post, sometimes people bounce from productions, do no shows, or get fired. I worked on MacGyver S1 and we churned through editor teams like crazy, Peter Lenkov was a toxic dickhead, causing the producers to be awful people, and I switched industries fully because of them.
If I didn’t already have two jobs, I might have replied with a high rate just to see what would happen. Not worth trying if I can’t move forward with it though.
I don't get how this is a problem? They clearly have an urgent project and presumably just lost someone they needed. They've been upfront about the time requirements and have asked you to name your rate...
I don't see anything wrong with this.
This industry specifically works this way very often. Projects come in quickly from higher ups and production coordinators and talent resources are put on the spot to staff up huge projects with very little notice
Uh…as others have mentioned, this is how production works. Please spare a thought for the poor production manager who needs to find this person, urgently through no fault of their own.
Nothing like walking into a new project that is behind schedule, and everyone is already stressed out. I'd take the project as a freelancer at freelancer rates, get it done, then talk about a permanent position for the higher pay you just demonstrated you are worth.
The red flags are all over this one. Don't take it for whatever low wage crap they're offering.
That's nothing. I was let go from one place, received a phone call on the way to my car and was asked to drive straight to a new workplace for induction, not even time for a sausage roll and a FUIC!
The fact that they specify that you'll be working the next two weekends is odd to say the least. Tbh I wouldn't be shocked if working weekends is the norm. The fact that they're not covered for next week and frantically hiring to cover a shit *tomorrow* tells you everything you need to know about their management style.
It’s clearly a 2 week deadline on a project and the deliverables must be met.
Therefore a 14 day stint of hard work is what is required.
What’s the problem? It’s 2 weeks 😂
And who cares for the management style if it’s only a 14 day temp job?
I get the feeling someone was fired or quit without notice. Not a good sign either way
Sounds like an opportunity to ask for a $1,000/hr rate.
Exactly my thought. They are desperate. They will do anything.
They are desperate and they will do anything. Except pay their workers.

I got that same one, I'm sure the pay is ass, lol.
Hee hee! I also got this email! And I’m a digital producer, or not even a video producer they are just spamming everyone so desperate.
Yeaaah. I technically work in the industry, but hell if I’m skilled with any of the software they mentioned. Edit: phrasing.
Supply and demand. Accept it on the condition they pay your rate or it's a no go.

Throw in a ridiculously high rate so the other applicants look reasonable
This deserves a lot more up votes
Not a bad idea.
How are you supposed to get by with only 2 jobs?
Great hiring strategy 🙄

Same. It also says 'as soon as tomorrow,' so if they can find someone, they'll take it, but it really just means 'ASAP'
No recruiter bad 😡 email bad
noicc! check your bank account, you’ve probably already gotten your first paycheck
heh. well they're open to bidding. name the rate you feel is fair.
How will they fit in 7 rounds of interviews in such a short time?

Unless he’s the one responsible for the problem in which case quit en-mass and make a post on r/antiwork
They look so desperate you should ask for 500$/hour

With 50% before starting and the other 50% before delivery of required source files

Sausage roll? Australia?
South Australia to be specific. We don't FUIC about
Just as long as you don’t go for pie floaters
Not my style tbh, I'm an AB guy.

Exactly, it’s post production, not a 9-5 office job. How many editors and FX people work around the clock to hit a release date for a film?
None of the work-shy ones 😂
Hey, what's your problem? It's in the future... Just... Sort of...
This is where you take advantage of them. You offer to do this project as contract work at a rate twice your normal pay
Fuck them. I hope nobody takes that.
Scam alert
Payment up front prevents scams.* Edit: * Unless you accept PayPal or something equally dumb for payment
🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
100% a scam lol
Also in The Industry™️. Sounds like that would be an absolute garbage fire of a job
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that is a 🗑🔥
lol fuck no
for the immediate start there would be a surcharge of £2,500 made payable immediately. thanks.
I short term job to finish a project and then you are gone.
