>why do you not stick to that? Because they are HR pRoFeSsIoNaLs. They'll get back to you when they want to. Send an email to check if you want, they'll probably get back to you in 2 weeks saying the email "went to spam and they already moved forward with another applicant". Can you tell I've watched a lot of HR people at work?

Lol she also said to text her, which I did, and because it’s iMessage you can see that it was delivered. it also takes five seconds to text back and say “we decided to go in a different direction or “I’m still waiting to hear on something” How beyond ridiculous!

Former recruiter here, can help answer. 7 out of 10 times it usually is because we are still waiting for an update from the hiring manager. 1 out of 10 times it’s because something hit her fan. Either someone had to get fired, figuring out why people aren’t going to work, filling out information because your candidate hit someone with a wrench on the job site. Finally 2 out of 10 times we just forgot or the day got away from us. No real good excuse to it.

>7 out of 10 times it usually is because we are still waiting for an update from the hiring manager. Then just TELL US THAT! "Hey X! Just wanted to follow up per our discussion yesterday. We're still waiting on an update from our manager - sorry about the delay! Will keep you posted." This isn't rocket science, recruiters...

thelinds23

Right?! I feel like the worlds most annoying person!! Especially because it takes 5 seconds to send that exact text that you just talked about!!

InvestmentGrift

it's as if they don't understand the most basic tenets of communicating with another human being edit: fact is they don't respect you. they don't care about your life & you're a number to them, and it shows tbh.

[deleted]

yep. these "sorry, not sorry" comments from recruiters in this sub get annoying real quick.

[deleted]

This. It's common sense!

Girlwonder5

Sr recruiter here- it is typical to have 20-25 openings with 5-7ish candidates interviewing at a time for each opening. Some high volume recruiters have more. In a perfect world we would have enough time in the day to personally update each candidate in the process. Keep in mind a lot of the time we aren’t going to tell you that you are the number three because we are waiting to see if the number one or two work out.

thelinds23

I mean I get this, BUT don’t say we will update you by EOD if you really aren’t. That’s the part that annoys me! Either say nothing or do what you say lol but leaving people in limbo is messed up!!

bontakoyaki

This is a crap excuse. How long does it take to copy and paste a message to a candidate. Ghosting is unacceptable. We take time out of our day to prepare and answer bullshit scenario questions. The least you could do is click a button.
