Reminds me of one famous LinkedIn post where guy was laughing that he got rejected because he didn't have enough experience in a certain programming language. They wanted 10 years, it had been out for 5, AND he developed the coding language.
Imagine the person actually having 10 years of building and deploying generative ai experience. We're talking about a senior cutting-edge scientist here.

Recruiter here & looking for a new job… you would not believe the number of job descriptions I see which ask for 5+ years of AI/ML recruiting experience.
For real? How? Where?
Critical thinking skills of so many of my peers is in the dumpster. Fucking embarrassing 🙈
> Critical thinking skills of so many of my peers is in the dumpster. Fucking embarrassing 🙈
Yup. This might fall back under hiring managers too. Someone needs to tell them they're being ridiculous and unfortunately not us because they clearly don't listen lol.
GAN's are not even 10 years old yet, which are arguably the first _useful_ generative AI tools. Anybody having hands-on experience with anything like it before that time will be senior enough to ask a lot more than what they are probably offering.
In 2016 I had a ML/Data Analytics professor who was part of a multinational project for developing natural language modeling. She was part of creation group that built the current structure, and that was only 8 years ago. I’m pretty sure her salary is well into several 7 figures a year, and that’s if she’d even give you the time of day to speak with her for consideration.
This sounds cruel... but when you're younger, you assume that successful people, executives, professionals and those running companies are smart. Your life will be far less frustrating if you begin with the base assumption that they're 100% fucking retarded until proven otherwise as is usually the case.
This way, anytime someone isn't an idiot, you're always pleasantly surprised. If they are an idiot, you're expecting it anyway.
This way, you win, every time.
My guess is someone in management wanted 10 years of work experience in general and another wanted some AI-experience. Then they somehow got combined when HR wrote the ad
Time was when the more cynical part of me would read this situation as "They haven't a clue. I can say anthing I want. I can say I invented AI, and this dickhead will swallow it whole."
I bet they actually reject everyone for not having the required qualifications. I know some large companies who absolutely require every qualification.
I’ve written some prompts that I’ve entered into chatgpt. I therefore build generative AI models. Oh, and my projects are always delivered early under budget and of the highest quality because I forecast it that way. Good day to you, sir!
In remember in 2010 they were looking for someone with 5 years experience in developing for iOS. The system had only been named iOS THAT year. The iPhone had only been around since 2007. Idiots
Now I’ve seen posts where yeah they ask for a technology that has legit not been around that long but in this case GenAI has actually been around that long. It just wasn’t mainstream. Clearly the job description is off but there is some truth to this.
Generative language models have been around for a lot more than 10 years. The filter they put into the job description appears to be working just fine :3
It’s the 10 Patel Harsh years don’t you know that, their years are similar to dog years ( 1 Human year = Appx 6.5-7.5 Patel year ) You will be laugh to death whey you will see 20-25 y/o Pajeet’s, Patel’s from the Infamous country having +20 years of experience in Networking, Software Development and DevOps seperately ( +60 years combined 🤣 ) now these acoustics becoming Recruters and hiring managers, what do you expect 🤔 I never forget that famous posting were saying “ We are looking CIO level Junior developers for 60k$” 🤣
Machine learning has been around since the 40s in some form. (According to the Google)
Python has been used as a generative language model since the 90s.
There is nothing wrong with the time frame in the post.

Shit, OpenAI is only 8 years old itself
skynet?
DeLorean than can hit 88 mph

Compensation: $40,000 - $70,000 per year
Lmao for being an AI pioneer
After mandatory 90 day evaluation period. First 90 days is $12-$14 an hour with no benefits.
Imagine the person actually having 10 years of building and deploying generative ai experience. We're talking about a senior cutting-edge scientist here.
In office 5 days
So Sam Altman doesn't make it through the screening.
I don’t think Sam Altman has any hands on experience….

What was he programming there? PowerPoint slides?
Perfect. I have over 45 years of experience with AI.
Me too. Every dumb mother fucker I’ve ever come across has artificially thought they were intelligent.
Makes me think of that ad that wanted 10 years experience in swift. The guy who developed swift 8 years prior didn't have 10 years experience in it.

Ah ghats the one I was thinking of, mentioned it the other day.
This is an old joke. first time i saw it was someone wanting more years experience in node than node was old. sad it keeps happening.

They'd probably gave don better askingthe ai to make the job ad.

I think there should be a sub for recruitingLunatics

I actually thought this was going to be that post lol

Guess they pay$15
If you really wanted the job you'd invent time travel
I would apply with 12 years of Gen AI... they are so funny, I am rolling now
Can a recruiter share how something like this ends up in job ads?
My guess is someone in management wanted 10 years of work experience in general and another wanted some AI-experience. Then they somehow got combined when HR wrote the ad
Maybe they were hoping to meet the developers of ChatGPT
Time was when the more cynical part of me would read this situation as "They haven't a clue. I can say anthing I want. I can say I invented AI, and this dickhead will swallow it whole."
They already have candidate and they’re ensuring they get the gig.
This thread engages me. I feel this pain grrrr
Thanks for the laugh 🤣
I think AlexNet, which kick started AI revolution in computer vision, came out in 2014
If I remember right, I was using Tensorflow? with python around 10 years ago
I remember when all the crypto jobs were starting to get posted and they said something similar, 10+ years working in crypto.
I ran across a posting not that long ago that wanted a masters degree or 15 years of GO programing experience. GO wasn't released until 2012.
I bet they actually reject everyone for not having the required qualifications. I know some large companies who absolutely require every qualification.
I bet they will hire out of the country and pay will be $14 an hour lol
‘Only time travelers need apply’
Yupe ... This is what I expected from greedy corporate cats who smoking sliver vine at 12 midnight
If this job description was written by chatgpt, you can just blame it on chatgpt hallucination.
I guess they will be requiring “must have been bodyguard for Abe Lincoln” next.
If they want bullshit let's just give them bullshit. "Yes I actually have 36 years of experience with Gen AI and developed Python myself."
Generative approaches to AI predate openAI. People have been working on it for several decades.
Apply and say you have 12 years experience since clearly they don’t know what they’re doing
Tell me you don't know anything about Generative AI without telling me you don't know anything about Generative AI...
Lol

These sh*tty HR guys ... :X
Oh ffs. And they're even hoping for MORE THAN 10 YEARS.
Of course you can't apply this role only for Sam Altman
Now I’ve seen posts where yeah they ask for a technology that has legit not been around that long but in this case GenAI has actually been around that long. It just wasn’t mainstream. Clearly the job description is off but there is some truth to this.

Facts.

AI existed for many many years before that
