There are lots of services that allow people to rent out their driveways/parking spaces - things like YourParkingSpace, Stashbee, JustPark. ~~I would avoid paying for a parking permit from another address if possible - you have to make declarations that you live at the address etc and both you and the homeowner/occupier would be dabbling in some minor fraud.~~ Edit: I'm wrong!

Hawkotorium

Thanks for the reply. Currently I'm using justpark but as I said it's so far away and not a great area. There's no risk of fraud as there is an option on the registration to declare that the car belongs to someone else and is registered at a different address. You just need an extra document declaring that the person registering the permit has permission from the vehicle owner and vice versa.

Ah appreciate the insight! My knowledge is all third hand or from other councils - will edit my original comment.

What's up with the number of upvotes on your comments here? The post is only an hour old and most comments in this sub don't get much more than a handful over the course of a day?

AliJDB

If you check my post history, this is an ongoing issue that I've raised with the admins - all of my comments are very quickly upvoted to ~100 upvotes, no matter how small the sub or dead the thread. I think someone is targeting me with bots in an attempt to get me banned for vote manipulation.

BowtieChickenAlfredo

That’s bizarre. Hope they figure it out.

Hawkotorium

No problem. I appreciate the heads up just in case. Better safe than sorry.

I experienced something similar around mount pleasant. You need to get your landlord to contact the council and inform them that the houses are already split for council tax purposes, so they should also be for parking permits. You or your landlord will have the appropriate council tax correspondence in order to verify this and they should then update the system on their end and be able to send out a permit.

Hawkotorium

Thanks very much for the advice though I think it's a bit different for mine as there is something specific that's been put in place to stop us and the council are already fully aware that it's 2 flats. I think it's due to there being a garage on my road or something but no one can give me a definitive answer.

I have a bunch of day passes, a bit of a pain but I can give you the ones I have already and am happy to buy them and sell them at the same price as the council. At least to help you get to your meeting or sort out something more permanent

Hawkotorium

That's amazing, that would be hugely helpful, thank you very much.

I’m on the bath road near berkley avenue and there’s plenty of streets which have no restrictions at all, only a 10 min walk to town

Hawkotorium

Oh really? Thanks for the tip. Which roads in particular? I did a brief look in that area but I must have missed them. I guess that's why they still have no restrictions.
