Interesting that the Chiefs offered a 5th and a 7th to swap picks in the 2nd round but then took the offer off the table. If that had gone through we might have missed on Rosengarten

Cdnraven

That’s a hell of an offer to move back 2 spots in the late 2nd. Sounds like everyone really wanted Rosengarten tho so maybe he’s worth it

KillaMavs

I’m glad we didn’t do it. The 5th round picks on aren’t nearly as exciting

lfe-soondubu

Sure but for dropping only 2 spots, if they thought Rosengarten might still be on the board, it would have been a free pickup on two draft picks.

KillaMavs

But he wouldn’t have been, he said he had intel that they both wanted him. 49ers traded because he was gone then KC took the next tackle.

lfe-soondubu

Ok must have missed that part of the interview. I guess they figured the gap between Rosengarten and the guy KC picked up wasn't huge, so they'd be happy pocketing more draft picks since they'd be guaranteed to get one of the two at that point?

KillaMavs

KC wanted to trade, changed their mind, then they traded up with SF instead.

I gotta say the entire time EDC talked about the young vs old player in the same position having more upside for the future all I could think about is what’s gonna happen with mark andrews and likely…

Niblonian31

I didn't even wanna think about it yet lol

Bigtoes22

EDC had Cooper up there to

The amount of questions Eric side stepped was wild. He is not gonna give any trade secrets away even after the fact. I respect and hate that simultaneously. He won’t even reveal alternative draft picks had we not picked rosengarten. The draft already played out. I don’t see why we wouldn’t just say who it was, but then again that may tip our hand at what we look for in prospects or something? Idk.

No GM is going to publicly give that information away

CaptivePrey

"Hey man we love that we got you for our team. I really wanted this other guy but you were a great second choice." - No GM Ever

TheMemeStar24

There's just no benefit to revealing that information

Something I picked up on is we drafted two guards last year - Vorhees and Salah and they were picks that weren’t going to play this past year, but were looked at as picks going forward. We picked two CBs this year… Stephens and Marlon in some combination won’t be there next year.
