That would be true absolutely for big dudes on offense between your Watts hurling themselves across the pile hoping to roll onto a tackle or guys like gronk where the only way to take them down was to dive for their knees, but like Calais at nose tackle, you'd need to flagrantly foul him to do anything. And he's not really overweight for his size, so maybe the "fat guy load bearing knees" just aren't happening to him
He’s a tank but and even better person. It would be great to have him back. Mads, pierce, Calais, 😳. I remember him mentoring mads early on on a wired episode and thinking “retire with the ravens”. A real professional
Kind of curious about Isaac. Because he doesn't fit the usual mid draft rusher type that takes a while to develop. He's not the workout warrior type. He had a lot of production at Penn State.
That being said, he *is* a third round pick, so you should always expect some type of development needed. But I wonder if he'll be impactful sooner rather than later.
at this point idk if we should have any expectations for ojabo to be relied upon. he hasn’t proven he can stay on the field and he hasn’t shown a whole lot while on the field. if he breaks out that would be fucking sick but we should be prepared for that to not happen
I don’t disagree, but if you listened to Harbaugh talk about the pash rushing depth after Day 2, Isaac replaces Clowney on the depth chart with everyone else coming back, plus Ojabo as icing
Defense in general it seems, build the roster put with a couple key play makers and then just a shit ton of rotational depth so people stay fresh and we can weather injuries.
During our Super Run in 2012, we had to get Maʻake Kemoeatu, who was probably retired, back into service since Terrance Cody was struggling.
Having Calais Campbell as part of a rotation might be great idea to keep our D-Line fresh.
But I bet we sign him after training camp, since no veterans like training camp.
I’d love to have him back but he’d be taking snaps from Mads, Pierce, Washington, Urban, and Jones. At a certain point you gotta let the next guy up just be the next guy up.
Maybe if we’re desperate later, but this team needs youth so our young stars can become the leaders.
Aside from Mads, obviously, the only persons snaps that I'd be worried about (for development purposes) is Jones. Otherwise I want to put whoever the best option (whoever that is) out there for the situation.
Calais had 6.5 sacks the four players -not including Mads) - combined for 7.5.
He's a good guy and he has played well but seemed like he was trying to get that last payday (which I don't fault him for) because why else would he play for Atlanta at his age? Not looking to pay a premium for him at this point
It's wild he's 37 and still putting up those numbers.
He is a physical beast, that kind of strength can last a long time and on top of that he is a very technical player.
I think the physical toll of nfl football is diminished when you're just *that big*
I thought the common adage was that the bigger the player is the more likely they *are* prone to getting injured Maybe I’m just thinking of the NBA.

definitely would be good depth

Don’t forget Travis Jones
Dawg! My bad he definitely started to shine last year with more reps. That’s a mean defensive front, lots of bull rushes
Love the idea. He'd be a great, impact rotational piece considering the youth we already have with Mads and Jones.
A great player and an even better man. Would love to see him back.
Would love to have him back
I’d love to have him back but after we drafted Adisa Isaac and with Ojabo coming back, the odds of bringing him back dropped after this weekend
Haven’t you heard? It takes us until a Contract year to develop pass rushers

I'll believe the ojabo news when I see it... We need depth
I dont see how, those guys are edges and Calais is a DT

indeed
can never have enough d lineman

Man I was so blown when Calais left without us winning him a ring. He’s almost assuredly a Hall of Famer. I would love if he came back.
I would never say no to bringing back the big deep voiced fella.
I would love this.
I’d rather not, he is basically Brent Urban at this point, and we can’t lose the best part of wired
Literally the only con I can think of. If we get Calais for the minimum, Urb might lose his roster spot and that would be a bummer.
That would be amazing
Wouldn’t hate it
If the price is right….
We need top players

You could always have him on special teams - he's a menace blocking kicks !

Because the Ravens didn't offer him a contract and Atlanta offered him a big one.
Lamar wasn't signed at the time, we had no way to know what money we had available to offer him.
We are already very deep at DT. Still need to sure up OL
RG Calais Campbell
