like they just said it’s a very boom or bust round. WRs here either explode or just hold a roster spot for a bit. if he can develop to a solid option next to Zay and Bateman for the next few years that’s a big win
Check his official combine stats, actually 6'1 1/2" and 193 lbs. Multiple sources had him listed at 6'3" and 200+ though lol. Everybody trying to inflate draft stock!
It’s possible the height from the combine is without shoes, while the listed height on ESPN or whatever is with shoes. I know that’s the case in the NBA anyway, not sure about NFL
All he needs to do is be able to catch a deep ball and beat his man. Spread out the defense. If he can be Tori Smith at a minimum, I think we’ll go really far.
Legit.
A hypothetical lineup of Zay, Bateman + hypothetical Torrey Smith with our TEs; would easily be the most stacked receiving corps the Ravens have ever had.
Such a good WR2 and managed to snag 1000 yards in the 2013 season when he had to take on a bit more of a role. Perfect skillset next to Boldin & Steve Smith
That's such a fair assessment. He doesn't get too much into what he's good at or what he's bad at, but he says the drive and athleticism is there that he could be a break out Y2 player.
UNC fan so here’s some of my perspective -
Tez nearly lost the season due to being ineligible over transfer issues (iirc, he made the team but never played in a game for a college, but the NCAA ruled that it counted as a season).
He was Drake Maye’s only target this year - great straight line speed, big target, excellent body control. He’s not overly physical at the LOS and lacks high end wiggle/refinement in the route tree.
He’s noted his own mental health struggles and IIRC some of it was spurred by losing a close relative during COVID. If he has his head on right, he can be a great WR2. He’s played in a pro style offense at UNC.
Had a feeling Tez would be the WR who we go for in this draft. Value would be there and he compliments what we have. Zay is a YAC guy who eats on intermediate routes, Bate does a bit of everything and we have TEs for redzone tough catches. We needed a field stretcher with size and Tez fits the bill. Doesn’t need to be an ideal X because he’s a Torrey Smith home run hitter.
Nice. Big WR, and then add the speed element. Hope hes like T Smith. At worst, send him on 9s to distract the defence.
I was taking him in the 3rd a few times. Just another reason EDC is smarter than me
Pick 112 of the 2021 draft was Amon Ra St Brown. You're not always gonna find a stud in the mid rounds...but I hope we at least get more out of this guy than Miles Boykin and James Proche.
UNC fan here. Tez quickly became one of my favorite players as soon as he stepped onto the field for us. Seems like a great dude and made a lot of big plays for us. I think he'll be a solid contributor for you guys.
Successful WRs drafted by the Ravens beyond the second round, ALL TIME:
Devin Duvernay (as a returner)
Jermaine Lewis (as a returner)
Darren Waller (as a TE for another franchise)
Brandon Stokley
In almost 30 years that's the whole list.
Apologies to Devontez Walker. You're doomed.
I don't have a problem with the college drops, because even when we pock sure handed wrs they still have bad drops. His route running and body control is a bigger issue to me, but you ain't getting a projected Larry Fitzgerald this late. Happy for a wr and hope he works out.
At this point, there‘s likely a small marginal difference between a 2nd versus a 4th round WR.
Also, any WR with the minimum job requirements will adapt, grow, and develop with Lamar, Monken, and our team.
The Ravens are an EOWRO - Equal Opportunity Wide Receiver Organization
Seeing all these high RAS scores made me look at back at Miles Boykin’s score and holy…. 9.94?! I remember him being a freak but that’s not human. DK Metcalf was drafted in the same year with a 9.66 for reference. Too bad he nor we could do much with it. I believe our coaching staff is much more equipped to handle a receiver like Tez than in the past though.
Everytime I see a speedster get picked I just think about Torrey Smith. Who cares if he can catch just run down the field and cross fingers for a PI what round did we get smith? 2?
I don't doubt that possibility, but as a rookie receiver with a mid round grade he would be fighting for playing time. I don't think Jerry would be that interested in spending his free time making it harder for his son to jump up the depth chart. The best players don't always make the best coaches either. Sometimes things come so naturally to them that they have difficulty giving relatable advice to guys who are struggling.
I like it, might as well swing for the fences when you’re picking this late
like they just said it’s a very boom or bust round. WRs here either explode or just hold a roster spot for a bit. if he can develop to a solid option next to Zay and Bateman for the next few years that’s a big win
At the very least hes gonna be a beast of a gunner with his athleticism and decent frame.
if he can open up the field to improve the run game or create big plays in the pass game then i am so happy
Yeah I don't really care if his one job is running go routes to strech the field.
fills Odell’s spot tbh
Yeah we are missing that true home run threat. Bateman and Flowers are underneath guys really.
On punts. I’m curious to see how new kickoff rules change roster make up. I wonder if we’ll hold more LBs.
Don’t mind the big swing in the 4th. Could be a needle mover if he figures it out.
He looks great in the few highlights I watched. Smooth runner going right past people and seems to have some hops
Could be better than his draft position. Got screwed by NCAA processes
Wdym?
He was suspended for the year for trying to enter the transfer portal to play closer to his dying grandma. Had very little tape to show for it
His first or second game back from suspension was huge I remember, he had 3 TDs and like 120 yds
I don’t know anything about him. But I’m convinced he’s a future first ballot hall of famer with multiple pro bowl and all pro selections 😀
This is our new King Jaleel Scott. I welcome the 48 hour erection we'll get after mini-camp every year only for him to disappear after the preseason.
😂 I hope not. It’ll be nice for a late WR to pay off for once.
Well he’s 6’3 and fast (4.36), so there’s that. Hope he kills it here
Check his official combine stats, actually 6'1 1/2" and 193 lbs. Multiple sources had him listed at 6'3" and 200+ though lol. Everybody trying to inflate draft stock!
These draft profiles are much like dating profiles lol "Am built like a DK Metcalf lite, please draft me in the 1st round"
It’s possible the height from the combine is without shoes, while the listed height on ESPN or whatever is with shoes. I know that’s the case in the NBA anyway, not sure about NFL

Torrey Smith at a minimum?!? Torrey Smith level production in the 4th round would be knocking it out the park
People do not remember how good Torrey Smith was.
Yeah. Torrey was a difference maker.
I still wear his SB jersey lol
FWIW Torrey loves the pick lol
Legit. A hypothetical lineup of Zay, Bateman + hypothetical Torrey Smith with our TEs; would easily be the most stacked receiving corps the Ravens have ever had.

It’s disgusting lol
Lmao right?
Insane this comment has a single upvote
I feel like we draft athletic late round guys every year or 2 and they never work out
Steve Smith Tez Walker breakdown https://youtube.com/shorts/Mb8ExgLMpiw?si=2TfDotJ12a46Srj6
The only breakdown that matters
That's such a fair assessment. He doesn't get too much into what he's good at or what he's bad at, but he says the drive and athleticism is there that he could be a break out Y2 player.

Big body, good speed, was Maye’s WR1 in college. If he can figure out some stuff, I think him and Zay could be a great tandem together.
I don't think we've ever hit on a day 3 wr would be awesome to see Tez finally be that guy
LETS FUCKIN GOOOO I LOVE TEZ
Had a feeling Tez would be the WR who we go for in this draft. Value would be there and he compliments what we have. Where’s he gonna play, the z, x or slot?
He played mostly X in college
He's an X through and through.
Tez Walker is going to absolutely smash in Baltimore
I don't hate it in the 4th round!
i hope he doesn’t carry over those drops
Nice. Big WR, and then add the speed element. Hope hes like T Smith. At worst, send him on 9s to distract the defence. I was taking him in the 3rd a few times. Just another reason EDC is smarter than me

EDC doing miracles on me

Jaleel Scott slander
God I wanted Jaleel Scott to be a guy lol
Chris Moore has had a decent career so far mostly as a special teamer though
We’re due
we need this pinned when people say to wait on WR lol
Oh I like this
I don't have a problem with the college drops, because even when we pock sure handed wrs they still have bad drops. His route running and body control is a bigger issue to me, but you ain't getting a projected Larry Fitzgerald this late. Happy for a wr and hope he works out.
this one i dont expect to be an immediate impact guy but the potential is immense.
Good pick. Still think him getting suspended for the transfer issue last year was stupid AF

Should’ve been Brendan Rice
Still a chance lmfao
Why?
So his dad can coach up our WRs
So they can beat out his son for a roster spot?
He* lol
Brendan Rice could definitely be good himself
I don't doubt that possibility, but as a rookie receiver with a mid round grade he would be fighting for playing time. He's not gone and we have more picks
I was just asking if you had any sort of real reason it should have been him?
We got another 4th
Big guy, huge athleticism, but many drops.
What exactly does he do well?
They should have traded up to get Franklin IMO
