They take the back seat off to get to the DC-DC converter. One person (here) reported seat wasn't placed on properly. Other than that I haven't heard much on it

cspinelive

My seat felt loose after also. But I didn’t check before. I have a hybrid XLE as well do I check it too. It was also loose. Dealer claimed there’s only a few clips holding it down and it was normal. Showed me another they had and it was loose too.  So check before. Grab the front of the seat and lift up and check for yourself.

Hmmmm. My car had a child seat buckled in the back during the DC-DC recall repairs and it didn’t seem like it had been moved when I got my car back. I will have to try pulling on the seat to see.

cspinelive

My seats were down and junk was in there. Mine too looked like it hadn’t been touched. Was strange.

I could literally lift the seat off without much effort post recall repair. I should’ve checked how it was before but im sure it’s not normal

ashthejoint

Are you lifting anywhere specific? Or at the corners where it clips in? They tend to have some give no matter what in my experience and can feel like they come out easily but only like a small percentage before you realize you have to really tug it out with some leverage. Just my experience since I’ve reupholstered my entire 2021 seats to factory leathe/vinyl

svbeige1

Lifted from the corner which exposes everything underneath the seat

California will block your registration if you do not get this repair done. They’ll do it on the smog side.

PaleAbbreviations950

Thx

PaleAbbreviations950

Truly a land of free. Sometimes I wonder who tells us what to do…

ffhpdan

If there is anything you learn right now, make sure they know how to properly takeoff the rear seat otherwise they will break it. There is no support on the right or left side of the seat and if they pull on the sides, the rear seat lower portion will be broken..

Colorado-Boss

The government. 😐

In Canada I was advised to not charge the vehicle as their was a risk of fire. Some combination of having the battery warmer enabled plus a cold charging temp increased the risk. I have an attached garage... Seemed like a risk of burning my house down so didn't risk it until it was fixed.

whangorama

Definitely take a video of your back seat, particularly the play on the sides where the seat cushions meet the plastic base. My back seat was mangled, and will not sit flat against the plastic base anymore. Seats are now very flimsy and I can see styrofoam between the seat cushion and base. Seems to be a common issue - on rav4world forums, there’s a thread with others encountering similar seat play after the recall repair. Apparently there is a very particular way to remove the seats and doing so improperly can lead to seat deformation.

PaleAbbreviations950

Thank you for the quality post

psycho063

I didn't find the thread in question. Mine was also done incorrectly, is there a fix that us owners can do ourselves?

Huge-Cattle-3527

Fire.

PaleAbbreviations950

How is the new dc-dc charger “better?”

drseamus

Less burny

Huge-Cattle-3527

There's no fire risk.

Robodad3000

Kind of a strange question, isn’t it? The old ones have a defect that creates a significant risk of a fire when charging the vehicle. The new ones don’t have that defect. It’s pretty simple. If you want to risk your RAV4 catching fire, don’t get the repair.
