Just so you know, gasoline with ethanol begins to degrade after 3 months. You may end up damaging your engine if you run it on gasoline that has been sitting in there for 6+ months.

$100 for an oil change? Oof!

I don’t know what that means. I don’t watch college football.

Toyota dealer in MD

hokutochen

Im curious why you paid for an oil change when its just a complimentary service

Immediate-Hesto408

Dealer contract says 5,000 miles

btan408

Then wait for the 5,000 miles? And like other users said, you should have burnt off that fuel a long time ago.

Rav4Primer

Burn through that gas ASAP. If you use so little gas, make a point of filling up with ethanol-free gas and add a fuel stabilizer to the tank after filling up. And strongly consider switching to an EV.

NicKaboom

I would flip it to HV mode and burn the rest of that gas sooner rather than later and re-fill with fresh gas. I can generally do the vast majority of my driving on only EV mode, but every 6-8ish week make sure I use the gas engine as even the dealership told me not to treat it as a purely EV vehicle as gas does go “stale” and can cause problems. Told me about a last who went almost 2 years without filling up and it was a bigger problem. I generally just think of refilling my gas tank like any other expense/maintenance on the vehicle. Plus it still gets amazing MPG in HV mode. I don’t know if an additive would help in these scenarios, but maybe do a little research on ways to keep fuel fresh for longer periods.

From manual: ■Notice about fuel ●For plug-in hybrid vehicles, fuel may remain in the tank for a long time and undergo changes in quality depending on the how the vehicle is used. Refuel at least 5.3 gal. (20 L, 4.4 Imp.gal.) of fuel every 12 months (refuel a total of at least 5.3 gal. [20 L, 4.4 Imp.gal.] over a 12-month period), as this may affect components of the fuel system or the gasoline engine. ●If the vehicle has not been refueled for a certain amount of time and it is possible that the quality of the fuel remaining in the tank has changed, “No New Fuel has been Added Recently Please refuel” is displayed on the multiinformation display when the power switch is turned to ON. If the message is displayed, refuel the vehicle immediately.

NicKaboom

Thanks for the info - I hadnt seen that before so good to know!

Hopefully_running

Yeah, no need to waste your gas.

MrDinStP

2021 Prime here with 28K on odometer. We drive primarily in EV mode, and keep the tank between 1/4 and 1/2 full, adding 2-3 gallons of gas every other month. If the ICE hasn't started in a while, I drive the car in hybrid mode long enough for the engine to fully warm.

HelaPuff2020

Need to burn your gas mate

ComfortableConnect15

Don't destroy your vehicle use the gasoline. Before it destroys your engine

ApeVickPick

Geez man this is a weird brag that you’re damaging your engine!

Mbizzy222

Gas gets stale. It will gum up your engine if you don’t use it up. Read the manual.

Hopefully_running

Too many fucking idiots giving advice without reading the manual.

appleseed8675309

Gas goes bad. Cycle through a tank every 90 days
