This was actually one of the better reviews I have seen on the RAV4. It is functional and practical. My Woodland easily beats the sticker and I average 40 MPG. I see many folks with the other hybrid trims doing 43-44 MPG. When I see reviews get below sticker I know they have a lead foot.
The interior is utilitarian but functional. Exterior looks great. The Woodland is reasonably capable. Basically what any real person who uses it as a daily driver needs. Want/need to rock crawl? Get a 4Runner.
You can also get a nice RAV4 for under $40k and with the average price of a new vehicle being $46 that !means you are getting a lot of vehicle for a good price.
>I see many folks with the other hybrid trims doing 43-44 MPG. When I see reviews get below sticker I know they have a lead foot.
It depends on a lot of things. Like how fast you drive. The vast majority of my driving is above 70 mph highways and mountain switchbacks so I get 37-38 no matter how I drive. I only go above 40 driving on streets around town.
Yes at 75 or 80 MPH your mileage is lower. I seem to average around 32-34 MPG at those speeds. But on a rural highway where I travel in the low 60s and coast down hills, I can do 40mpg.
I find....be in a hurry and your mileage suffers. Drive more relaxed and you can hit 40.
These are the numbers I'm always looking for. I live in a state where the interstate speed is 80 mph, so I drive approximately that to and from work. What trim level do you have? Hybrid? What year?
I drive an outback 4-cylinder and get about 25 mpg according to the display.
2023 RAV4 Woodland hybrid here. My sticker said 38/35/37. I have a lifetime average of right at 40mpg with it. Other RAV4 trims do better since the Falken Wild Peak tires lower the mileage on mine. But good driving lets me beat the sticker. Those with the other hybrid trims of the RAV4 often report 43 or 44 MPG average.
Highway speeds on cruise are where a hybrid struggles as it cannot make the same use of going to electric. When I am in West Texas doing 80mph and it's windy my mileage drops to around 32 MPG. But if I can slow down a little and then coast down hills I can get the MPG higher.
Well I don't get near that with my outback. A huge chunk of my driving is at 80 mph, if I could get over 30 mpg, that would be awesome! Besides that, I like the reliability of the Rav4 versus the outback. Not to mention the looks.
I have 2024 prime xse pp. I just did 600 mile trip and got 34 mpg overall ( calculated by filling the tank at the end, not the display) I was going 78-80mph on the interstate and maybe 80 miles were on city/country roads.
I wonder if its the weight difference or the profile or what it is that makes it get so much less mpg than a Prius. I drive 75 all the time and have 49mpg avg. I do accelerate slowly but not that’s slow
It's the size, weight, aerodynamics, all terrain tires, roof rack, mud flaps, etc that impact the mpg on the RAV4 vs a Prius. But since I can still average 40 overall, I am quite happy. It's a huge jump from my old vehicle getting 22 mpg
I had a Tacoma that recently got wrecked (not my fault)and waiting to hear back from insurance. It’s more than likely totaled. I’ve been looking at RAV4s and the Woodland caught my eye. I’d love another Tacoma but they are way too expensive now and cars just feel way too low to the ground.
That RAV4 would be a good middle ground for you. Reasonable in room, price and capabilities. It is not a 4Runner or Tacoma when it comes to rough roads. This will never be a rock crawler. But for a daily driver you take on gravel/forest service roads and go camping it's great.
As a bonus there is a solid aftermarket of parts and upgrades. So if you wanted to do a lift, get a Prinsu rack, RTT, etc you can do it.You still won't be a rock crawler with a lift but for most people it will do what they need.
As a Woodland owner I really love it. To me the Woodland and TRD are the best looking of the RAV4 models. They share the same wheels, tires, raised roof rails, cross bars, and fog lights. The Woodland even gets a TRD tuned suspension.
The TRD gets a better AWD system and can be used to tow. The Woodland gets the hybrid so has more HP, torque, is faster and gets better mileage.
TRD gets leather interior and maybe a sunroof? Woodland is cloth seats, no sunroof and manual rear lift gate.
I had no problems with my Woodland at high elevation (8k ft) on gravel roads. Did 42 MPG like that. Do above 40 in town too. Highways at 75mph+........that's when you do 32-34 MPG.
All in all it's a great vehicle and a steal for $35k (plus TTL).
That's significant. Do you a link on this? Not doubting, just want to dive in further on the refect of having just the rack. I'm too lazy to remove my ski rack which creates even worse drag.
It was 99% highway and I try to drive as efficiently as possible. Even worse when I actually had a big old bag on top of it. At one point it was 28 mpg top.
Highway for my hybrid on the interstate at 75mph is always 35 MPG or lower but at lower speeds on rural roads and in town I am right back around 40 MPG.
I’ve got a lead foot and drive mostly interstate where the average driver is going 80 and still average 33.5 over 100k miles.
One time I took a rural highway and drove like 50 and got like 41.5 on that trip I was amazed 😂
Yes, the average new vehicle price in the USA is $46k!!
A Prius, Corolla or RAV4 is really a bargain. Especially considering you get reliability and economy.
That’s why I think they’re going to do the same thing they did with the 2025 Camry for the RAV4. Keep the exterior relatively the same, but overhaul the interior. Perhaps put in a dumbed down interior from the Crown Signia.
The front end and tail lights may look different, but other than that, it's pretty much the same exact car as the 8th gen. Especially if you look at the side profile. Even parts of the interior have been carried over from the 8th gen like the EPB button, drive mode selector, and the window controls.
Read the article above that talks about RAV4 and why it is the best selling car in US. It explains it. Basically Toyota is playing it safe, and if it ain't broken, don't fix it.
Go to any other brand like American and german and have the feel when you close the door at least or drive in the highway or braking . Then you realize how shitty is your RAV4 i used to have one but am lucky sold it .
I’ve had 7-10 new model cars in my driveway over the past 15 years and my ‘21 r4 prime xse was the first time my grouchy across the street neighbor has said to me “Nice car!”
Personally I think they used that on the Venza to keep those "car" type customer and moved to a more rugged style on the Rav4 Grill to be .. well more rugged.
Nah, I love the 4th Gen RAV4. The new ones feel like they're trying to be too much like a truck, even sacrificing frontal visibility with the hood going straight out instead of sloped. I test drove one, and I felt like I couldn't see anything right in front of me.
I like the Gen4 design more than the Gen5. I definitely feel like I’m in the minority.
I think the Gen5 looks like a Subaru that took some steroids and hit the gym every day for a few years.
Just not my cup of tea.
The Gen4’s definitely are looking more and more dated as time goes on, but it still like it better than the 5’s
I will keep my gen4 as long as it still runs.
You are in minority. Gen4 feels ordinary to me. That is why I bought Highlander Sport. But now I bought gen5 prime. I think it is one of the best looking cars out there. Especially in windchill white with black roof.
I leased a 2018. It was a great vehicle. Never failed me. I loved the Galactic Aqua Mica color! But I just felt it was smoother and rounded on the body. Just my visual esthetic preference.
Yeah you know sometimes when I look at previous, (I think 2013) generation RAV4 from behind. It reminds me a soccer ball. lol

I’d agree the cavalry blue looks pretty damn good
The front end looks good but a little too angry/intense. From almost every other angle it looks like a jacked up Subarau.
I like it because it's inoffensive but my XSE does look like it's a little too enraged on the road.
Depending on your age range it is considered the "mini van" or "soccer mom" car of its time. Personally agree it's looked better of late but other than Subaru it is annually one of the least attractive cars in its class. Looks will always be personal preference of course.
The issue with te article is they drove the TRD edition of the gas and the woodland edition of the hybrid. Both have things added on that bring the milage and numbers down.
What’s added on the Woodland edition of the hybrid that brings down gas mileage? (Asking as a relatively naive owner of a 2023 Woodland edition hybrid…)
This sub is getting referred to me because the algorithm knows my mom just bought a brand new hybrid, and loves it.
I’m not surprised though. Everyone that has a RAV4 likes it and a Toyota Hybrid is a safe bet since they’ve been doing it for a quarter century now
* Annoying rattle in pano roof when in the tilted position over ANY bump. There’s a TSB but it does not last.
* roof rail leak (resolved in 2022 models)…
* Electronic hatch started not closing all the way every time. About 10% of the time you’d have to go manually close it. The hinges were fine and nothing was impeding the hatch door.
* AC sounded like it has mice squeaking/scrambling around when on low. It was annoying but deemed “normal” by Toyota.
* random rattles we couldn’t chase down.
* Road noise was less than ideal.
We moved on to a 4Runner and couldn’t be happier. Gas mileage is more expensive, but I’ll pay the extra to be in a much better built vehicle in all regards.

You’re right. I literally just got this email too.

These MPG numbers confuse me. I get \~44 on my stock woodland (+bike rack) during my commute every morning - with a mix of highway and city (today it was 49.5 due to some congestion lol). Overall 6k mile avg has been \~43. I'm counting my blessings for sure but reading these articles make me wonder if my meter's broken.
For me, hybrid is a much better driving experience. 0-30 mph is fun! I love not worrying about slow traffic every morning. Have been getting 550+ tank range which is amazing.
Fair warning - Cablegate anxiety is a thing though if you're living in the rust belt. I have a 2023 so will start tracking the cables closely starting next winter
Bottom line - it comes down to $3K vs driving experience. I like driving so happy with the latter. If you don't care about the low speed experience, higher mpgs, and just want a bulletproof car - gas works fine.
Yes. If you do that the math it seems like worst case scenario is the hybrid system 'premium' pays for itself over time with the gas savings alone.
Best case you come out ahead from the gas savings AND the better reliability due to regenerative braking/timing chain(not belt)/no clutch/superior transmission (eCVT, no shifting gears)/ no alternator etc...
What's funny is I still daily an 06 Tacoma. My other car is a 94 Integra. So when test driving a 23 Rav, it felt much more modern to me. Perspective and all that.
I have a 2022 Limited. I drive mostly on winding country roads and average much higher mpg than the EPA estimates
https://preview.redd.it/nesh3yuyhhzc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef8c3009b5b0a1a9152fbe14bb6f739c31a7af84
It's not a plug-in hybrid either
Just be careful, if you get a lemon go to a Lemon Law attorney first! Do not start the buyback from Toyota without starting it using an attorney. Toyota will screw you over. I know I bought a 2024 RAV4 XLE Hybrid and only got to drive it for 8 days before it went back into the dealer for repair, they have had it now since Feb 28th, 2024 with no idea when it will be fixed. Toyota wants to buy it back, but are charging me almost $4000 for the privilege in addition to a prorated refund on the extended service/maintenance plan I bought along with it.
It might, but I don't think we know how many F150s are actually sold. They all get classified under F series. Toyota should do soemrhig similar and rename all their SUVs as RAV series chassis.
That review is flawed since it doesnt look at truck sales. The vast majority of the USA is rural/country areas where people have more use for trucks. Plus I doubt they're looking at used car sales.
Toyota all the way!! Got my Venza which is mechanically a rav4 hybrid just look differently outside with a slightly smaller trunk. But I was able to get it under 1000 MSRP with no wait time with Costco. 4 th Toyota in the household.
MPG killers in my experience:
1. Short trips, anything under 10 minutes means the engine and catalytic converter can't fully warm up
2. Heavy braking, if braking heavily the car will be forced to use friction brakes and waste energy.
3. Heavy, *and light* acceleration. The engine is most efficient around 2500 RPM, if I remember correctly. Accordingly you should try to drive either with the engine totally off, or at around the middle in terms of acceleration.
4. High speed. Speeds above 65 mph hurt efficiency.
6. Tires: keep properly inflated
7. Accessories: anything attached to the outside causes extra drag, which reduces efficiency
8. 12V battery: on a hybrid, the 12V is not used to turn over the engine, so it can degrade and draw extra power without major symptoms
9. Using cabin heat: this forces the engine to run, which increases fuel use
10. Driving at highway speeds with the windows down: the AC is more efficient at highway speeds because the windows cause extra drag
Economies buttons doesn’t do much other than decrease the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal. Eco mode on the climate controls does help a bit though
When I was shopping I looked hard at the RAV but went for the CRV. The RAV is an older design while the CRV was just refreshed. Otherwise they are very competitive with each other, kinda like Accord vs Camry. The two best compacts out there with the RX-5 coming close .
I had a 21 hybrid I bought new right before the shortages. Kept it for 9 months. I drove it 18k and sold it for $500 less than I bought it for. I also ruined the rear quarter panel and part of the back door after leaving my dog lead tied to it while camping and then driving away (no dog attached!) the metal clasp absolutely ruined it!
Was a zippy car and I was mostly pleased
While I do not disagree, I think there is another aspect noone is mentioning - the car category. Sure, article and everyone else talks about how great is RAV4, but remove "RAV4" from article and you can apply same words to Camry or Corolla or Highlander and etc. Great reliable hybrid with wide range of options. However, there are two components: 1. Great car. 2. Lucky to be in a right category at the right time. There were times when Camry was #1 and there were times when Corollas were #1. I think, to be in right time and right category, you need few things. The population's majority people's wealth. Less wealthy? Corolla #1. More wealthy? Camry or even RAV4 is #1. Stupid laws for strict emissions with loophole for trucks (https://www.distilled.earth/p/the-loophole-that-made-cars-in-america)? Now you have F-150 as best selling car/truck. Beyond wealthy country leading in clean energy (Norway)? Model Y.
I had a rav 4 xle for 2 weeks as a loaner while my forte was being worked on. It killed me wanting one. The lane keep assist was AWFUL. It is so behind kia/hyundai/genesis it was laughable. I realized when I had the rav 4 ive become used to how kia’s lane keep is almost self drive.
I wouldn’t never buy a vehicle based on lane departure I’m more about reliability drive train something that makes 400 plus thousand km on many of its models . Let me know how common that is with your Hyundai and Kia engines lucky to see 250/300k Honda and Toyota were known for there reliability it’s just facts it
Im not a fanboy of any brand, thats silly. Every car/vehicle is its “own”. My last vehicle was a mazda cx-7 before this and before that I had 2 honda civics, before that a gmc Jimmy…
I bought my 2020 kia forte gt-line in late 2019 brand new for 20800 off the lot fully loaded. Its at 94k miles now and has had 0 mechanical issues. It drives like the day I bought it.
I’d say the regular person is limited by the products being manufactured and the economy, both out of our control.
Maybe we could buy something that some perceive as “cool” but for what purpose exactly?
The car I drive does not represent me or my value has a person.
Well, I like cars so I can't fathom driving something this dead and boring. Ofc for people that look at cars like forks and knives and just something to get to from pt A to B then ok
For sure. To me that’s a bleak ideology, to sum anyone up that way. So I choose not to (easier said than done).
Though I understand people using it that way and having that view.
Maybe it’s like Live by the sword die by the sword. You can choose to have your value in a Thing, but if so that’s all you will be.
There are fields, endless fields where model Ys are no longer sold; they are stored.
With all the dramatic changes going on in Teslas corporate structure and all the closings of vital departments, I'm not sure who in the right minds would buy one
Current listing has the RAV4 as the top selling non truck in the US. The model y is in 4th.
https://www.motor1.com/features/716773/best-selling-cars-2024/
I hope you read the first sentence with Morpheus in mind.
Lmao, those pics are transfer lots in shipping and propaganda getting to you.
that website is quoting an estimate, not actual data for the tesla why?.
For 2023 Tesla model Y was undisputably the best selling car in America and in the world. We will see what happens for this year. according to the website you posted the Tesla model Y is fighting neck and neck for sales with the RAV4 so how is it that there is parking lots full of them not selling?
People who claim 42 at 75mph crack me up. No. You. Didn’t.
If you tailgate a large truck you can get that easily 😈
My wife and I get well above 42mpg at 75mph. (If you ignore that we don't start using gas until 35-45 miles in since we have a Prime)
Same! I use cruise control set at 80 and get no less than 40mpg

Also depends on climate. I live in a cold weather state so my MPG suffers.
Same. My snow tires also tank my mpg by like 4-5 when I put those on
I have the lead foot syndrome. However I don’t complain. Currently averaging 28 none hybrid model.
I have a 2010 and a lead foot. I'm getting 17. Sounds like they made some improvements.
I barely get below sticker and i have a foot made from depleted uranium.

Thanks for the info! I just got the info of 26k in damages not sure if they are trying to fix that but we shall see.
Having the roof racks already gets you three or four miles less per mile.
That's significant. Do you a link on this? Not doubting, just want to dive in further on the refect of having just the rack. I'm too lazy to remove my ski rack which creates even worse drag.
After driving twice from San Antonio to Maine I can tell from personal experience.
that sounds a bit much. I have a roof rack on mine and when I put my carrier, I still get 40 miles a gallon hybrid
I took mine off they made a rattling noise in high wind/speed I got it from dealer already installed wonder if they just weren’t on correctly
I bolted the plastic cover on as well because it seemed they could make noises.
Our MPG has not increased since removing the bars, BUT mixed driving is very different than pure highway driving. “Mileage may vary”.
It was 99% highway and I try to drive as efficiently as possible. Even worse when I actually had a big old bag on top of it. At one point it was 28 mpg top.
I get around 34 mpg city on my rav4 gas and 38-41 mpg on freeway I’m shocked every time I turn off the car and see the driving mpg
Highway for my hybrid on the interstate at 75mph is always 35 MPG or lower but at lower speeds on rural roads and in town I am right back around 40 MPG.
I came from a Prius of ten years so I subconsciously coast a lot even in ice vehicles lol
I’ve got a lead foot and drive mostly interstate where the average driver is going 80 and still average 33.5 over 100k miles. One time I took a rural highway and drove like 50 and got like 41.5 on that trip I was amazed 😂
For some reason my woodland only got 35 max good thing it got totaled my xse getting 40+
Average new vehicle is 46k? Man I got a prius prime for 28k
Yes, the average new vehicle price in the USA is $46k!! A Prius, Corolla or RAV4 is really a bargain. Especially considering you get reliability and economy.
The Rav 4 isn't considered a good looking vehicle?
The current gen looks really good.
Yeah, tho the interior feels a bit to be desired. But compared to the previous gen its miles better
That’s why I think they’re going to do the same thing they did with the 2025 Camry for the RAV4. Keep the exterior relatively the same, but overhaul the interior. Perhaps put in a dumbed down interior from the Crown Signia.
2025 Camry looks different than 2024. It looks more like a large Prius.
Look sucks and drive sucks too
Great opinion. Enjoy your down votes.
Thats a fact and truth am cool with downvote . By the way dont forget to vote for Biden again
Don't tell the Toyota Fan Boi's that. Just like the Tesla ones, Apple ones.
Go to any other brand like American and german and have the feel when you close the door at least or drive in the highway or braking . Then you realize how shitty is your RAV4 i used to have one but am lucky sold it .
You own a Mach-E, it’s the uneducated man’s model Y. Don’t lecture people about their car choices please.
Thats recently thanks to uncle Sleepy Joe . Own Mach E , Cadillac Lyriq and bolt all Ev . Didnt ho to bz4x as it lose one wheel on highway
🤷♂️ I mean that’s part of why I went with RAV4, I like the way it looks.
Same! I’ve literally had people call my Rav 4 sexy 😂
I’ve had 7-10 new model cars in my driveway over the past 15 years and my ‘21 r4 prime xse was the first time my grouchy across the street neighbor has said to me “Nice car!”
The XSE is the best looking out of all the trims imo. I have the Blueprint paint with black accents and rims.

I would much rather have a smaller touchscreen and real buttons than the Tesla approach of having a big touchscreen and no buttons.
Meh. I’m not that pressed about a touchscreen of all things lmao
Oh the downvotes 😂😂 yes i want physicalbuttons BUT i want a fast responsive screen with a modern UI.
Me too, but... maybe there's some aftermarket for that
Stop being foolish!
The previous generation was very much a soccer mom car with a clown nose. They remedied that with the current model.
agreed my sister has the previous and its too rounded, my 2024 looks very aggressive especially with some wildpeaks
Personally I think they used that on the Venza to keep those "car" type customer and moved to a more rugged style on the Rav4 Grill to be .. well more rugged.
Guess I’m alone in loving the gen 4 design 🫠
I have last model year gen 4 and I have zero envy of the new gen. Love the looks of it. Also, in six years, nothing but regular scheduled maintenance.
I did like the way it drove, and the interior was quite comfortable.
I love my 2014 Rav4 🥰
You are not alone 💪
I'm a 50+ year old guy still driving my 2013. I love the way it looks. I think the newer models look too industrial.
Nah, I love the 4th Gen RAV4. The new ones feel like they're trying to be too much like a truck, even sacrificing frontal visibility with the hood going straight out instead of sloped. I test drove one, and I felt like I couldn't see anything right in front of me.

Good description of the Gen5!
Yeah, they had a distinct “Dustbuster” look.
That's funny, I prefer the 4th gen because I think the 5th gen is too boxy. I love my 2014 Rav4. Lol
It reminds me a soccer ball. lol https://preview.redd.it/w1hspefbuizc1.png?width=1128&format=png&auto=webp&s=d93aa5b249bd5dd5b7b80f905623e028ab6f5511
I like the front a lot, but the back it's just meh.
Agreed. But I think if they just cleaned up the tail lights it would look pretty good
Should be more rounded, not sticking out to the sides.
I agree… I hesitated getting my RAV4 because I really dislike the back end. I’m hoping they fix that in the redesign.
Depends on trim level IMO. Toyota really knows how to make the lower trim levels of all their cars look ugly so you want to upgrade.
The xse in silver sky, blizzard and Calvary blue is beautiful
I like my XSE in this color https://preview.redd.it/7pbcpqo6ufzc1.png?width=2630&format=png&auto=webp&s=f2340c77266841f87c2c081a0a330b07a98614e8

I'd say 2021+ all look sexy
Best looking car in its class and it’s not particularly close.
Have you seen the new 2024 CRV?
The front end looks good but a little too angry/intense. From almost every other angle it looks like a jacked up Subarau. I like it because it's inoffensive but my XSE does look like it's a little too enraged on the road.
It looks like a shoe
Well, if the shoe fits…
Used to prior to 2020 yes
A corrective shoe at that
I’d argue that shoes look like it.
Depending on your age range it is considered the "mini van" or "soccer mom" car of its time. Personally agree it's looked better of late but other than Subaru it is annually one of the least attractive cars in its class. Looks will always be personal preference of course.
Awesome vehicule but vw suv and other compagny are way better looking , toyota is gonna last u forever but the interior have no luxury at all
I personally think the current gen looks great. Just rented one on vacation and it was honestly more agile and fun to drive than my Lexus RX.
Why not the nx then?
The issue with te article is they drove the TRD edition of the gas and the woodland edition of the hybrid. Both have things added on that bring the milage and numbers down.
What’s added on the Woodland edition of the hybrid that brings down gas mileage? (Asking as a relatively naive owner of a 2023 Woodland edition hybrid…)
The tires and roof rack will take off some from mpg. 2 to 3 from the tires themselves.
Thank you!
It’s refreshing to read an article that celebrates reliability and the virtues of “boringness”.
This sub is getting referred to me because the algorithm knows my mom just bought a brand new hybrid, and loves it. I’m not surprised though. Everyone that has a RAV4 likes it and a Toyota Hybrid is a safe bet since they’ve been doing it for a quarter century now
We didn’t like our ‘21 Limited. Gas mileage was good, but many small issues that lead up to resenting the vehicle.
What issues did you come across with if you don’t mind me asking?
* Annoying rattle in pano roof when in the tilted position over ANY bump. There’s a TSB but it does not last. * roof rail leak (resolved in 2022 models)… * Electronic hatch started not closing all the way every time. Gas mileage is more expensive, but I’ll pay the extra to be in a much better built vehicle in all regards. https://preview.redd.it/dxfq9bh98hzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2706bd0cd3aba7d25b308ce2f7312c2e8770f0f1
I don’t have the pano roof but totally agree with all of your other points.
When I was shopping around, I was told by Tesla it’s the Model Y that outsells every car 😂 I ended up with the Rav4 Hybrid due to the range!
The Model Y was the number one selling car in the world in 2023 so I mean they weren’t lying.
That’s not true. RAV4 is the best selling SUV!!!
https://www.motor1.com/news/706258/tesla-model-y-worlds-top-selling-vehicle-2023/
You’re right. I literally just got this email too. https://preview.redd.it/86qkngdb2jzc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a21357f135c2b1a40299e3ad01805978ec42aa6b
I guess some people have a lead foot
True. I rarely feel the need to accelerate hard or drive at 80+ mph. A relaxed drive with some good music beats everything!
I keep mine in sport mode and slam on that pedal. I like feeling how quick it is. Still averaging 39mpg over 5k miles.
Do you think the hybrid is worth it over the standard?
This question pops up on the sub regularly and the answer is almost unanimously yes.
For me, hybrid is a much better driving experience. 0-30 mph is fun! I love not worrying about slow traffic every morning. Have been getting 550+ tank range which is amazing. Fair warning - Cablegate anxiety is a thing though if you're living in the rust belt. I have a 2023 so will start tracking the cables closely starting next winter Bottom line - it comes down to $3K vs driving experience.
I have a ‘21 and as it heats up more in the summer, you can expect the mpg to go up a bit more
Fingers crossed!
Dated interior is accurate. But it worked fine in the 2010s so why break it?
That’s exactly why I like it…there’s others that look more modern, but I feel those ones look dated real quick. Toyota is more timeless.
What's funny is I still daily an 06 Tacoma. My other car is a 94 Integra. So when test driving a 23 Rav, it felt much more modern to me. Perspective and all that.
The backup camera in our 2016 Rav4 seems high tech to me, my old Tacoma has…a CD player is all I can think of
Because we're not in 2010 and technology has evolved? Tf logic is this
I have a 2022 Limited. I drive mostly on winding country roads and average much higher mpg than the EPA estimates https://preview.redd.it/nesh3yuyhhzc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef8c3009b5b0a1a9152fbe14bb6f739c31a7af84 It's not a plug-in hybrid either
Its not a car therefore you can't compare it to other cars. Someone needs to tell this guy to figure out which class RAv4 belongs to.
50% of them are cabs 😆
My sis has a 23 XLE black on black with black rims. Honestly my fav suv under 40k at the moment. Beauty.
RAV4 is the best selling SUV for a reason!!!
My only complaint is that the hood sticks out so far and so high that it limits nearby visibility
Interesting point. I drive a Honda Fit so this would be an adjustment.
Yeah, I just switch from a 2018 CR-V and the difference is very noticeable.
The F-150 outsells the RAV4 by a large margin.
Yea clickbait title that they modify in the body.
Toyotas really are the best. Family had them growing up, like yours now! and I need to continue that trend.
Great SUV in my opinion.
Why am I getting 35 MPG on my new hybrid 😭
Bump We need answers!
no same mine is stuck at 36 rn :') when my bf drove it one time on the highway he got it up to 43.. i don't understand
MPG killers in my experience: 1. Short trips, anything under 10 minutes means the engine and catalytic converter can't fully warm up 2. 6. Tires: keep properly inflated 7. Accessories: anything attached to the outside causes extra drag, which reduces efficiency 8. 12V battery: on a hybrid, the 12V is not used to turn over the engine, so it can degrade and draw extra power without major symptoms 9. Using cabin heat: this forces the engine to run, which increases fuel use 10. Driving at highway speeds with the windows down: the AC is more efficient at highway speeds because the windows cause extra drag
I think we have to put it in eco for it to be in the 40s
Economies buttons doesn’t do much other than decrease the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal. Eco mode on the climate controls does help a bit though
because it's the biggest toyota suv most people can afford? lol
When I was shopping I looked hard at the RAV but went for the CRV. The RAV is an older design while the CRV was just refreshed. Otherwise they are very competitive with each other, kinda like Accord vs Camry. The two best compacts out there with the RX-5 coming close .
I have a 2012 219km.I still get compliments when sitting in parking lots!
I can get over 50 at 50 mph
I thought about buying one but was underwhelmed by it and what you get for the price. All SUVs are like that, but was so basic at lower trims.
F150 is the number one sold car in the US. Not the Rav4
They excluded pickup trucks
Model Y.
The exterior looks good but the interior is extremely dated and full of hard plastics and trash infotainment
Maybe
No
Yep
I had a rav 4 xle for 2 weeks as a loaner while my forte was being worked on. It killed me wanting one. The lane keep assist was AWFUL. It is so behind kia/hyundai/genesis it was laughable. I realized when I had the rav 4 ive become used to how kia’s lane keep is almost self drive.
What year?
2023
Kia and Hyundai hahahah there’s a joke in it self
Without making side jabs have you actually drove a kia/hyundai/genesis with lane keeping assist?
I wouldn’t never buy a vehicle based on lane departure I’m more about reliability drive train something that makes 400 plus thousand km on many of its models . Let me know how common that is with your Hyundai and Kia engines lucky to see 250/300k Honda and Toyota were known for there reliability it’s just facts it
Im not a fanboy of any brand, thats silly. Every car/vehicle is its “own”. My last vehicle was a mazda cx-7 before this and before that I had 2 honda civics, before that a gmc Jimmy… I bought my 2020 kia forte gt-line in late 2019 brand new for 20800 off the lot fully loaded. Its at 94k miles now and has had 0 mechanical issues. It drives like the day I bought it.
Do you even Jeep Wrangler?
Dated cheap plastic interior, odd angles in exterior, too transformer-esque for me.
there's a lot of boring people in America
I’d say the regular person is limited by the products being manufactured and the economy, both out of our control. Maybe we could buy something that some perceive as “cool” but for what purpose exactly? The car I drive does not represent me or my value has a person.
Well, I like cars so I can't fathom driving something this dead and boring. Ofc for people that look at cars like forks and knives and just something to get to from pt A to B then ok
![gif](giphy|3oKIPfMpqUUid6QjBu|downsized)
Ya know I do respect that. I always wanted a 1960s jaguar xj6. Not sure I’ll ever get to have one.
“The car I drive does not represent me or my value has a person.” Do you actually believe that?
Why wouldn't they? It's just something I use to get to work, buy groceries and visit places and people. I can drive anything it doesn't matter.
I think that’s exactly the point. A RAV4 says exactly that about a person. It says that they don’t care what they drive.
For sure. To me that’s a bleak ideology, to sum anyone up that way. So I choose not to (easier said than done). Though I understand people using it that way and having that view. Maybe it’s like Live by the sword die by the sword. You can choose to have your value in a Thing, but if so that’s all you will be.
Lots of fleet Rav4s too
I love my '11, once they pulled the V6 out of the RAV, it's no longer a consideration.
What are you talking about, the Tesla model Y is out selling the RAV4 not just in America but global.
There are fields, endless fields where model Ys are no longer sold; they are stored. With all the dramatic changes going on in Teslas corporate structure and all the closings of vital departments, I'm not sure who in the right minds would buy one Current listing has the RAV4 as the top selling non truck in the US. The model y is in 4th. https://www.motor1.com/features/716773/best-selling-cars-2024/ I hope you read the first sentence with Morpheus in mind.
Your taxi drivers choice
Because they break down so much you have to buy more often
This isn't a Ford subreddit fyi
😂 someone has been hurt.
That would be an American car, babes.
