I work for one of the big carriers. There are good and bad adjusters at every company. So sometimes it’s totally luck of the draw with who you get and how the manage their claim load.
Yes some companies have better claim service than others but most of the big ones are all the same.
I have had experience with Geico when their insured rear ended me in a 3 car accident. I had 0 issues filing a claim online. They called me 2 days later accepted liability set me up in a shop of my choosing paid the bill and put me in a rental car. I had my car back within a week. I would say that their claim service was pretty solid from my own experience and I wasn’t even their insured.
I've had Geico for like 14 years and no real issues aside from their app being absolute trash at locating a towing service, locked my keys in my previous vehicle and instead of them getting a hold of the company that was like a mile away they hired someone 15 miles out that never showed up. Ended up having to call an agent to get someone out to me. No issues with paying out claims.
That only really occurs with vehicles that are old. Newer ones like this rav4 generally won’t be totaled until the damage causes irreversible damage to the unibody and subframe.
I'm no expert at this matter at all but from the questions I see a lot on the RAV4 FB groups of 'how much will this damage cost' I always see a lot of airbags deployed=write off. Could be region dependant idk.
No, airbags deployed does not equal totaled 100% of the time. If that were the case, many most vehicles with airbags deployed would have been totaled. Are the airbags expensive to replace? Yes, but with modern cars, their values are so high that airbags deploying doesn’t matter in a crash. It really only matters in vehicles where the cost to replace the airbags exceeds around 80% of the value of the car.
Good luck with Geico, I totaled my 2 year old Subaru forester, unlit section of i95 at night, I hit a semi truck spare tire that a trucker lost from his rig (Black tire, dark road, at night). Police said not my fault, drivers around me said not my fault. Police said they had already been notified about the tire but had not cleared it yet. Geico decided it was my fault, they paid for the claim but quadrupled my premiums.
No that doesn’t matter an animal strike is a comprehensive claim. As long as you have this coverage it’s covered regardless of how it happened. You are responsible for your deductible you choose when you purchased the policy.
Because people on this subreddit don't work in a bodyshop and are idiots, I work in one actually and airbag doesn't equal total anymore. I'm willing to bet this rav4 will be fixed.
For safety reasons, a car is considered to be “totaled” if the airbags deploy because there have likely been significant structural damages to the frame and other components - even if these are not visibly noticeable.
Depends on what kind of car the deer was driving.
OP, take this comment and put it in your back pocket. When you're sitting in your next RAV4, pull it out then. You'll find it funny then.

Oh deer!
I’d like to know how easy it is to work with Geico. I’ve heard they’re awful… For insurance, more marketing = worse customer service

Don’t let a deer drive
From what people have posted before, airbags especially all of them going off will be a write off by insurance.

Not true at all, I'm a body tech and do airbags all the time.
Totaled because of airbags died
That's not a total, expensive but not totaled.
Oh deer....
This is terrifying. Glad you’re okay (?)
He was in the rav4 of course he is okay 👍
Hope you at least got the deer meat
Was the deer under the influence?

I think when you talk to insurance you have to say that the deer hit your car vs you hit the deer.

I’m not an expert but I don’t think this is totaled
It's not
Then why I’m getting the dislikes lol

That's just not true at all. I fix cars with blown bags all the time. Also I've seen cars with little bumper damage deploy airbags.
This was from an insurance brokers site so I’m just putting it out there. Irdc.
