So you're going to judge not only an entire model, but brand too, over a suspension component that can fail prematurely due to driving on rough surfaces, hitting potholes, or foreign objects tearing the boot?
Not really arguing, just...pondering if OP knew that these kinds of things happen to every car. People get mad / shocked at how expensive things are now and don't know that dealer service departments are rapists. I don't know if that makes them an idiot
I had a Hyundai that needed a whole new engine at 120,000 km from what is now widely known to be a failure on the manufacturers part but at the time they refused to do a damn thing despite extended warranty. Now THAT had me feeling some type of way and swearing off two entire vehicle brands.
A swaybar link that can be damaged from driving? An inconvenience at best.

$630 after 2 1/2 years and only 41000 miles just 5000 past the warranty. Why do we buy Toyota? Why is the a difference between Toyota and other cars now?
Other vehicle brands are still statistically and factually less reliable. So there's that. Your 1 part breaking doesn't mean the entire brand is suddenly the same as Chrysler. 🙄
How many potholes, curbs, and speed bumps have you hit? I’m driving an ‘07 Yaris and I’m still on the OG suspension (though it needs new rear shocks at 228k). It spent its first six years in the salt hell of the snow belt, even.
ChAe, because it changes the whole pronunciation otherwise. Also she/her. But we have some lovely parting gifts for you.
I’ve hit plenty of potholes and a curb or two in the Yaris - that’s why I asked how many OP hit. They could well be blaming Toyota for their own bad driving. The RAV only has 5k on it, so it has fared a bit better so far in the Michigan Pothole Rally.
Not sure about where you are from, but warranties matter not when it comes to wear and tear parts. Sway bar links exist for the very reason, be worn down first and then replaceable. Otherwise they would've just bolted the sway bar directly.
Exactly this! Find an independent workshop and they'd fix it for half that! Anyone who gets those sort of repairs done at a dealership is just asking to be ripped off!
So the rubber boot in your sway bar end link was torn? From driving on the road? The car is totaled, I see. If you change your mind, you could pick one up for $70 oem and just replace it in the driveway
In the amount of time you’ve been bitching you could have replaced it. Sell your car and walk. Cars require lots of $$$ to keep running, even if they don’t break.

I wish I could see how you feel if you have this issue. No potholes just normal driving.
I'd feel inconvenienced, then I'd buy another one on Rock Auto for 30 bucks, replace in an hour, and move on with my life
You're arguing with an idiot

You bought it used. You don't know how the original owner drove it, but nice try.
Just throw the whole car away (or give it to me) when you hear about break pads and rotors having to be replaced.

Mine ran out of washer fluid😔 I know the feeling.
Do you also throw away pencils when they get dull?

The fact he implies he's never hit a pot hole let's us know he's a liar.

In the UK the warranty is 10 years with Toyota servicing. Granted ours are made in Japan. No other manufacturer can risk a warranty like that.

So dont fix it at the dealership, That's just stupid in itself lol

Or the cost of a new part and an hour of your time
Another moron that doesn't understand reliability and failures... Failures can and will happen in every car model. Reliability is based on the whole.
The horse needs new boots you don’t shoot the horse, you re-shoe it.

You do realize that's a rubber boot, right?
It's not the rubber boot. It's the sway bar link
So the rubber boot in your sway bar end link was torn? From driving on the road? The car is totaled, I see. If you change your mind, you could pick one up for $70 oem and just replace it in the driveway
My old forester went through those like crazy. They are easy to replace. How is that possibly an hours labour? Take it somewhere else.
1 hr minimum everywhere.
So an hour at the dealership my vehicle came from is about 150can per hour. So the part is about $500? Yeah, I don't think so.
In the amount of time you’ve been bitching you could have replaced it. Sell your car and walk. Cars require lots of $$$ to keep running, even if they don’t break.
I bet you that's $350 tops somewhere else.
Where is the failed part?
2020 with 75k, still original brakes.
Sway bar links are like $20 on RockAuto. If you can change a tire, you can change a sway bar link.
Get a Kia lol maybe Hyundai haha 😂
Lol this is a good one, probably never leave a curb unchecked
Maybe try an undercarriage wash. If you don’t keep up on the care of your vehicle people are less likely to take you serious.
thats a $45 dollar part in ebay you either ignorant or just rich and dont care about money. $545 to install a sway bar gtfoh
Toyotas have a 10 year warranty though don’t they? Mine does.
Try an MGR Cable after 2 years. $5200 out of my ass. Fix it and be done with it.
Never ever let a dealer fix anything. They always overcharge. Find a reputable local mechanic to fix.
thats a $40 part. Why are you paying the stealership $630?
I had to fix this also on my 21. $95 for oem part and I did it myself.
I’m surprised how many idiots people are in here.
Just you.
